Dodgers make SNEAKY good trade... This is GREAT | LA Dodgers News

Despite being the top team in baseball, the organization is managing injuries to Taylor and underperformance from other outfielders. Additionally, the team is navigating pitching rotation adjustments and managing Freddie Freeman's ongoing ankle injury.
Dodgers making moves, and with the Dodgers making moves,
could they be admitting there
might be a little bit of problem with some certain positions?
I'll get to that story right now, Brad J. with the Dodgers Digest.
The Dodgers indeed making moves, and to me,
I think they're admitting there's a little
bit of a problem, and before I get started on the story,
let me just say right now that
The Dodgers are the best team in baseball, right?
We all, there's no, you can't dispute that, okay?
Dodgers are the best team in baseball.
I predicted they would win
a World Series last year before they won the World Series.
Predicted it back in June.
Okay, not a big deal.
I predicted the Dodgers will go back to back
and they will win the World Series again this year.
So if I bring up some bad news
or I bring up something that seems like it could be a little bad news,
You need to relax.
Deep breath and just chill, because here's the deal.
I'm going to tell you the bad news.
I'm going to tell you the good news.
Any possible Dodger news that I deem worthy
to kind of combine in stories,
I'm going to tell it to you.
So I'm not overreacting.
I'm not Chicken Little, which I've been called before, which is funny.
I love that, by the way.
But I'm going to tell you the good with the bad, the bad with the good.
And if you need a spoonful of sugar to help the bad go down,
well, then that's what it is, all right?
But the Dodgers are making moves.
Sorry about that.
I don't know why I had to get into that right now.
All right.
Dodgers have acquired outfielder Stewart Barowa
from the Toronto Blue Jays
for cash consideration.
So I don't know how much that would be.
You got to wonder about that.
But, okay, he's an outfielder.
What does that mean to you as a Dodger fan, an outfielder?
That means the Dodgers are looking the fact
that they have a little bit of a problem,
not a big one, I'm not overreacting, settle down,
but they have a little bit of an issue with the outfield, okay?
And so the Dodgers have acquired somebody
who doesn't have like these massive numbers
at all or anything, he doesn't.
But there could be a small window of opportunity for Barowa in L.A.
Because Dodgers outfielder Tao has
been placed on a 10-day list on May 6th.
Now, Wednesday, I think last Wednesday,
Dave Roberts said he could miss about two weeks if he progresses well.
What is that?
We didn't hear the other part, though, Dave.
What's the other part?
If he doesn't progress well, how long is that?
And so the Dodgers making a move, that makes me think a little bit.
And maybe, once again, I'm the chicken little here,
but I'm telling you right now,
I like what I see. They're making some changes.
They know they need some help.
Altman is not crushing it.
That is not a huge blow to Conforto, that is...
Not brand new news either.
Has not been producing out there as well.
And with tail out, that makes an issue.
It also makes you think,
do you move Mookie back to the outfield so he can cover it?
But the Dodgers are trying to do stuff to see
if they can maybe fix the problemo that's going on.
Baroa started the season in the minors and only was hitting 195.
So when you see this, you're all...
Really? That's it? With four runs batted
in in AAA Buffalo was what he was playing.
He made his Major League debut. He was in with the Jays last year.
It was his rookie year. Put up slash 189, 333, and 216.
No home runs. One RBI across the 37 at-bats.
He is 25 years old. 28 big league games for Toronto last season.
Dodgers are seeing something in him,
and they're trying to do something about it.
And, I mean, all you have to do is look
at what Dodger Nation put out yesterday,
and this is addressing it next year.
Obviously, Kyle Tucker is not ready to go this year,
but free agency Dodgers are going to pursue
because they know there's a little bit of lack in the outfield,
and that's what there is because you can foretoe.
Even if he was signed through next year,
he's only signed through this year,
you're not happy with the production you're getting,
so you're not going to option him
or try to put him on for another year.
And so the Dodgers know that they lose him,
and who knows what's going to happen with Altman.
Pahez has been contributing, so the Dodgers,
by showing their cards right now,
I feel like...
This is what they're showing.
They're telling us right now that, hey, we are addressing the outfield.
The outfield is a priority with the Dodgers.
So that's what they're doing right now.
You've got Conforto not providing.
You've got Taylor barely getting any at-bats at all.
And I don't know why is that.
I mean, with Conforto not producing, I would think, like,
well, we'll put Taylor out there and see what he can do.
But he's not getting the at-bats.
And I'm not saying that he deserves the at-bats,
but I'm just saying what I'm saying.
I mean, he's not getting the at-bats.
There you go.
Knack will be on the mound
and a chance to prove himself needs to stay up.
Your Knack, your ERA is 4-6-1, okay?
12 Ks in 13.2 innings is what your numbers are.
You got Kershaw coming back on the weekend,
so what does that mean for the Dodgers?
Once again, do they go five-man or six-man rotation?
That would be a five-day rest or a six-day rest, okay?
Now remember,
That was the plan to help
the Japanese pitchers having the six-day rest, right?
Because that's what they were used to in their prospective leagues,
the six-day rest, right?
And they were doing, I mean, Yamamoto was lights out.
Sasaki, you know, here and there, but got his win, what have you.
But as soon as they went to the five-man rest,
both of them had trouble in their games.
Is that a situation that the Dodgers
are noticing now and going, hey, wait a minute.
Pump the brakes, Jocko.
Let's make sure that we get him the extra day of rest.
Could Kershaw be that guy?
So does that mean Knack does not get sent down?
These are all questions that are going to need to be answered.
What a stupid way.
Update on Freeman's injury.
Freddie, what is going on with Freddie's injury?
There is some talk about it.
I've scoured the internet.
And Jack Harris, L.A. Times, he knows a thing or two about the Dodgers.
Freeman posted National League best 376 batting average,
734 slugging percentage this season.
Jack Harris of the LA Times reported the extent
of Freeman's ongoing ankle treatment.
So did you know, which I mean, I didn't know this,
but I mean, I don't think a lot of people knew this,
but every day Freeman says he gets about an hour and a half of pregame.
Treatment on his ankle.
In games, he tapes it up for stability,
wears a heel lift in the cleats
to prevent it from getting jammed as he runs.
So I did not know that he was getting that much.
I mean, that's an hour and a half of straight ankle massager-y
or whatever they're doing for an hour and a half
to make that thing ready.
But they also say it could be healed by All-Star break, right?
I don't know how, to me, if you're playing on it every day,
I have a hard time thinking it gets healed by them, but whatever.
Now it's giving Freeman an update on when
his ankle might not be giving him problems.
This is what they've said.
Perhaps by all-star break, Freeman has
been told by the team's training staff,
so Dodgers training staff said, hey, by all-star break,
you could be relatively normal, right?
You'd be good to go.
And he might not need as much treatment.
That's what Jack Harris said.
As the Dodgers look to repeat as World Series champs,
they're going to need him healthy.
They are going to need
But the one thing, the one thing I say to Freddie Freeman right now,
thou shall not steal.
I thought that was going to be a good joke.
Yeah, it's pretty much a dad joke.
But I mean it in a good way
because Freddie Freeman has no stolen bases this year,
and you do not want to see him stealing a base whatsoever, right?
Whatsoever.
Want his bat?
Want him at first base?
Do not want to lose that.
So, my thoughts.
The end of this is thou shall not steal.
All right, there you go.
And that is going to wrap it up.
