Are the Jacksonville Jaguars True Super Bowl Contenders?

But let's assume they do win it here.
I'm guessing Jacksonville, not only division winner,
what is the ceiling for this team for you?
Because I'm still on the fence about them one way or the other.
Are they a legit Super Bowl contender like Buffalo is?
What are they to you in this?
What is the ceiling for this Jacksonville team?
So I picked them to go to the Super Bowl last year.
That was when Jacksonville was my AFC pick.
Yeah, I remember, yeah.
Yeah, they were my AFC pick.
Buffalo was my pick this year.
But I think the reason why I didn't pick Jacksonville
to go to the Super Bowl
is because of what you just said,
is that while I think Lawrence has now entered the category of,
okay, this is exactly who we thought he was going to be,
I think he's there.
I think he's in that category, but he does...
What he's missing, Joe, from Drew Brees,
Tom Brady, Manning, all those guys,
what he's missing is exactly what you just said,
is that once every three or four games,
It's three picks. It's three picks and a fumble.
Why? Why is that? I don't know the answer to that.
That's the only thing holding him back from starting to talk about
that, about is Trevor Lawrence going to be a Hall of Famer?
Because you may laugh, but if the guy plays another 10 years,
wins a lot of games, throws for a lot of yards,
throws for a lot of touchdowns.
He's Philip Rivers, and Philip Rivers is a borderline Hall of Famer,
and Matt Ryan on Atlanta was a borderline Hall of Famer
who never won a Super Bowl, but got to a Super Bowl.
I think Lawrence is trending in that direction.
But why is it that when they play in Tampa
or they play some weird game against a team
that they're supposed to beat by three touchdowns,
Lawrence throws for 180 in three picks and fumbles twice?
I don't know the answer to that.
So, I don't think that tonight determines that by any means,
them winning this game 41-0, because
that's what they're supposed to do.
But until I see that, the problem is, Joe, is I treat this,
I always treat this like, who am I going to pick for the Super Bowl?
I treat it like March Madness.
Do I think Jacksonville is one of those teams where favored,
favored, favored, favored, possibly,
but I think, like, they could lay an egg.
And that's why.
I can't pick them like I did last year.
But I will say this.
As far as my belief in coaches in the NFL and coaches in sports,
I don't think coaches mean as much in sports as we make them out to be.
I know in the NFL they probably mean more than anything else.
This guy in particular is at near the top for me, Liam Cohen.
I do think this guy's got it together offensively, defensively.
He puts the guys in the best position to win.
They're playing so...
Just think about Doug Peterson was there two years ago.
Look how much better they look now.
Clearly, this guy has a clue.
So, show me that graphic again.
I do think that the odds are right.
I think Buffalo should be at the top.
I think...
Not the odds.
Buffalo should be at the top.
I think Jacksonville probably is fair right there.
But...
You know, Joe, if Jacksonville, I got news for you,
Jacksonville hosting Kansas City
in the divisional round, and Jacksonville is minus two,
and Kansas City wins 31-0.
We're like, ah, we got fooled again, you know?
Like, that's my worry there.
Well, and it's a legit worry,
because we've seen it time and time again.
So that's why I think tonight is going
to be a very important game here,
not just that they win.
But that they win convincingly enough where we can look
at this team and say,
this is a legit contender.
Because anything outside of an easy win tonight,
Greg, you know what's going to happen.
It's just, it's going to be up, same old, same old Jacksonville.
Can't trust them.
Not going to work.
It's not going to happen.
So I want to see how they perform here tonight.
I'm going to be very interested to see this.
I will say this.
They do lead the NFL in point differential.
Plus 85.
Yeah, that's big.
And this is through eight weeks, right?
Well, last week was a crushing, though.
That was a big part of it, too, though, to be fair.
Yes, absolutely.
But it's still a divisional game.
They still had to win it.
So it wasn't, you know, it's been a tough place to play.
I think they win by 30 or 40.
It was, yeah.
Was that the biggest blowout of the year?
I don't know if it was the biggest blowout,
but it was certainly never in doubt there.
But I will say this.
They have also outscored their opponents
in the first half this year, 110 to 40.
It is the largest margin by far in the league.
So to your point about Lee and Cohen, that's all scripted.
That, to me, is the scripted portion of the game.
That's what tells me that you have
a coaching staff there that does the work,
understands what the weaknesses are of teams,
and goes out and exploits them.
And that's what they've done, and they have the offense to do that.
So I'm wondering.
Is he the best coach on the sidelines tonight?
Because if he is, then maybe the simple play
is just expect Jacksonville to do what they do.
And that's, it's five and a half, six in the first half.
Are they up a touchdown by the time we get the break?
They have been all year.
Probably.
Right?
I mean, they have been all year.
So why even bother with the back door maybe opening
at some particular point in the second half
because the game's already out of hand.
That's how Jacksonville.
Has played all year long.
Now, I did see and I did hear, of course,
that his passing prop over 235.5 yards
was the single most public bet prop tonight.
