Governor Kathy Hochul cruised to an easy victory.
Over Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman.
Jessica Formosa, what's going on with that race
and some of the other local ones?
Good morning, Rosanna and Dan and Robert.
Yeah, a big night for Governor Kathy Hochul here.
It was also a blue wave here in New York State.
Governor Kathy Hochul, who was leading in the polls,
winning re-election for a second full term.
The governor winning with 60.1% of the votes.
Blakeman taking 39.7% of the votes.
Back in 2022, it was a narrow election for Hochul, winning by only six.
six points over Republican Lee Zeldin,
but this time around, the governor made what
some are calling a remarkable political comeback,
racking up huge margins in New York City.
She campaigned with Mayor Mamdani
and other progressives like Congresswoman Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez.
Meanwhile, affordability and crime dominated this race.
Bruce Blakeman's campaign was centered on tax relief
and improving public safety, but
came up short.
You will first hear from Governor Kathy Hochul during
her victory speech and then Bruce
Blakeman.
The people of New York have sent a message
that will be heard far beyond our state lines.
All right.
Remember this.
Just a few weeks ago, Donald Trump came to New York and told voters,
listen you can't make this up,
told voters to pretend that he was on the ballot.
I just got off the phone with Governor Hochul.
I told her that she ran a great race, and now the race is over,
the election's over, so we all have to unify
and work together and make for a better state of New York.
You win some, you lose some.
The fact of the matter is that now we pull together, we move forward,
we have the best interests of the people in our heart.
And in the race for Attorney General,
Letitia James also declaring victory, securing another term,
defeating Republican challenger Saritha Kamataredi.
James, who has served as the state's top prosecutor since 2019,
will now begin a third consecutive term.
James won by about 60 percent of the votes,
while almost 40 percent voted for Kamataredi.
The victory belongs to each and every one of you from Long Island
to the hills of the Catskills, from the Hudson Valley.
To the lakeshore of Rochester, to both,
to the streets of New York City.
Biddy!
And let's now go to Connecticut,
where Governor Ned Lamont wins re-election.
Lamont's defeating Republican State Senator Ryan Fazio,
securing a third term and becoming
the first Connecticut governor
to win three consecutive elections since 2002, Lamont winning
with more than 718,000 votes.
The winners have another four years to advance
their agendas as Republicans look to rebuild
and challenge Democratic control in this state.
Back to the governor's race here in New York State.
Right after the polls closed,
that is when we knew that Governor Kathy Hochul had won re-election
and Bruce Blakeman was walking into his venue when he found out.
And the polls recently showed her with an 11 or a 14 point.
So she was up to 20 points.
So this is a significant higher than what they kind of had predicted.
Yep.
Got it.
Okay.
Well, thank you so much.
