Welcome back, 8:12. Your time.
The Falcons are in Madrid today, continuing their preparations for
this Sunday's matchup against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
It was another day of practice for the Falcons and Fox 5 Sports.
Justin Felder is in Madrid to cover the game on Sunday
and all the preps. He joins us with more
on what's already been a busy day for the Falcons.
Justin, I understand it's a nice mild 15 degrees there right now.
And Buck, that's one of the differences between here in Madrid
and back home in Atlanta.
We're live right now outside of Real Madrid's training facility.
And a couple of those differences, I don't know what time it is ever.
My high school Spanish is not getting me as far as I wanted.
People are going out to dinner at 10 p.m.
But once you get on the practice field with the Falcons,
it feels just like home.
Take a look at some video.
This is from literally minutes ago here on Good Day Atlanta.
Only place...
You're going to be seeing this right now.
The Falcons, as we speak, are still out
on the practice field here at Real Madrid's training center,
getting in work ahead of Sunday's game.
Now, as far as those differences go,
today felt just like a normal practice.
They had their music playing.
They're going through the normal routines, and that was the goal.
Yesterday, right after they landed, they practiced.
That was more of just a jog, do some light work,
get the blood flowing after the plane.
But today is supposed to feel like a normal practice.
That aside, however, head coach
Coach Kevin Stefanski says, yes, it is a normal game.
You gotta go out there and win, but it's different.
They're overseas.
They're in a place that many people on the team
have never been before, may not be back too soon.
So the head coach says he and his team
will soak up the experience as much as they can.
We're excited about having the support of the town
and we're excited about being the home city here.
This means a lot to us,
so we can't wait to get out in front of them on Sunday,
but also just to be in the city and experience the city.
And listen, it's a business trip for us. We have a lot of work to do,
but we will take a moment here and take a walk
and take in the sights and sounds
and understand how lucky we are to be in a city like Madrid.
Yeah, lucky indeed. Back here live in front
of Real Madrid's training center and talking to people around here,
the journalists from Spain who are covering the team.
They said it's been interesting to see the Falcons
and even if they're not experts on American football yet.
They know Atlanta well.
Bring up the World Cup, and they know all about Atlanta.
Remember, Spain's national team played twice in Mercedes-Benz Stadium,
Atlanta Stadium back then we were calling it.
They trained up in Chattanooga just up the road.
So bring that up.
They have some very fond memories of Atlanta,
even if they're still learning about American football.
That we'll see on Sunday.
Reporting live outside Real Madrid's training center,
I'm Justin Felder for Good Day Atlanta.
I think a nice equivalent would be if you had
to cover a bullfight over here.
And all the Spanish media was covering.
You were trying to figure out how to cover that, right?
Well, sometimes I wonder.
We listen to these press conferences.
We say, these are some interesting questions,
right, that they ask the players.
And then I think, oh, this is how we sounded
asking Argentina's players all kinds of questions
when they were in Atlanta for the World Cup.
So we're going to, you know, no judgment there
because we were doing the same thing over the summer.
All right.
Enjoy some good food and good luck with that high school Spanish.
All right.
Justin Felder, live in Madrid.
Thanks, Justin.
Yeah.
So I cheated early.
