Rockmart High School is High 5 Sports Team of the Week

Championship title wins. It's only right. The Rockmart High School football team is our High Five Sports Team of the Week. And good news, Alex Whitler is in Rockmart with the Yellow Jackets to hand them the High Five Trophy. Good day Atlanta. We've had that trophy just sitting there just waiting to be presented to you. Well, a lot of hard work. We've got a great senior class. They set a lot of goals. The first goal was to win the region championship. We took care of that last Friday. Now we've got to go win game 10 to get us up in the top four in that PSR and get into the playoffs and meet goal two, which is getting back to the quarterfinals. Okay, so what do you say is your strong suit? Defense, offense, what's the deal? Well, we're pretty good on both, but I'll say our strong suits definitely are our offensive line and defensive line. Those guys in the trenches have been great for us all year. Thank you. Who would you say are some of your team leaders that I need to talk to right now? Well, we have team leaders over here. We have Devin McCoy. He's a defensive end running back. We have Quay Alexander, who plays in the secondary for us and on special teams. Great. Well, let's start with you. What year are you? Class of 2027. Amazing. And how does it feel to be presented the High Five Sports Trophy It's good, man. It's a great feeling being here all four years. Don't want a reason in our years. I'm ready. You haven't stopped smiling this whole day. I saw you. Cause bro, I'm happy. Like, it's good. Like, we finna go in the playoffs next week. We finna go to state. We finna win it. Playoffs, aren't you? Yes. And how do you guys get to that point? How do you make sure year after year you are playoff eligible? We just listen to our coaches. We play hard and we just play physical and fast. Anything else that anybody at home needs to know about the kind of work you put down on that field? Just stay tuned. We going on a run this year. On the run. You heard him. On the run. Congratulations to the Rockmart High School Yellow Jackets, our High Five Sports Team of the Week. And in our High Five Sports Game of the Week, the Tigers will take on the Cardinals, the Stockbridge High School varsity football team facing off against Jonesboro tomorrow. So kickoff is at 7:30 at Terrace Stadium, and we will have all those game day highlights you need right here on Fox 5. It's 9:43, still ahead.
