All right. We're talking weather with meteorologist Jonathan Stacey,
watching this issue of flooding in a few counties.
In fact, we have a crew headed to mudslides in Fannin
and Gilmer counties.
So hopefully we can get some pictures back to you.
This is something you're also watching in the Weather Center.
There are a few words that the National Weather Center rarely uses,
and that is catastrophic and particularly dangerous situation.
They've used all those words tonight
to describe the situation that is unfolding
and the way of flash floods happening in Fannin
and in Gilmore counties tonight.
I just want to hold here because there are a couple
of roads that we haven't been able to map out just yet
that there is a danger.
And if you're inside your home, you need to go.
Go ahead and call emergency crews
to let them know where you are, especially if you live
in this area.
This is the area in and around Old CC Camp Road
that is in Gilmer County, maybe close
to the Murr County State or Murr County County line.
Also reports of water
and residences in Busy Head Road near Fannin.
As well, so these reports are kind of, you know,
coming in in a very sparse and a straggling manner, but nonetheless,
it's an unfolding situation that we're going to continue to watch
because the rain is not going anywhere. Here is a look
at Fox 5 live hyper radar and most of the moisture has been.
Really lodged up across areas to the north of the metro area
and out to the east.
There's been some action out, I should say, to the west.
There's been some action out to the east,
but what is taking our attention at this hour
is this particularly dangerous situation in the way
of this catastrophic flash flood warning
that covers what will be the central and the westernmost portions.
...of Fannin County and then the northernmost portions
of Gilmore County. In LLJ, you're dealing with some impacts here
because of the heavy rain, and I can see you having some flash floods,
but in terms of the expanse and the scale of the emergency situation,
that is happening just a little bit farther up
to the road along Highway 76. This particular flash flood...
Warning now goes until 1.30.
The greater green polygon that you see here will go until 3 o'clock,
and that covers areas as far to the west as Murray County
and as far to the east as Towns County.
Once again, Blue Ridge, Cherry Log right there.
This is the county line of Gilmer and Fannin,
an area that we're going to be watching very closely here.
While this is a mountainous area,
you can see that there are a number of roads
indicating that there are people who live in this area
and people who are under extreme danger.
Right now, not only will we be tracking the threat for flash floods,
but there's also a pronounced threat for lightning.
And then we cannot sleep on the risk for damaging winds and small
spin up tornadoes as this energy continues to jet to the east.
This is the view at 12 midnight.
Those of you in town.
Union County is going all the way out to Raymond.
Stevens County is starting to get into a lot of action.
White and Habersham, especially on the north side of town.
What we get here in the metro area is fairly sparse and scattered,
but the flow continues to be for these storms to travel more northward.
More north-northeast rather than to the north and to the east,
so anything that hits Cobb and Paulding counties,
it goes up through Gordon and then it flows right
on in over Pickens County and it meets our friends who need
no more rain in parts of Fannin and Gilmer County. That will continue
to be the story likely until daybreak tomorrow morning.
Most of us will wake up to cloud cover and fog across much of the area.
And then as the day grows on,
we'll bring in some sunshine and temperatures will return to the 70s.
We are tracking this situation
and we will keep bringing you updates throughout the entire hour.
All right, Jonathan, thank you so much.
