Just across the border, Wisconsin's elections also make state history.
A successful night for Democrats there as well, who now are in control.
She knew her in the Live Center with what we know,
the latest coming out of the Badger State.
Good morning.
Hey, good morning guys.
One of the biggest headlines this morning coming out
of Wisconsin is David Crowley winning the governor's seat.
But keep in mind, that's just a part of the big picture here.
As we mentioned, a successful night for Democrats.
They now control both Wisconsin chambers happening for the first time
in 16 years. Along with that, Democrat David Crowley will now
also be the state's first black governor.
Crowley beat Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany,
and he did so with some big endorsements
from outgoing Governor Tony Evers and former President Barack Obama.
Because of you, a boy who grew up facing eviction
will now live in the governor's residence.
Wisconsin made history.
Yeah, Crowley, he's always pitched himself
to voters as someone who is a dealmaker.
He played a large role in negotiations
on a deal to keep the Milwaukee Brewers,
the champions, the Milwaukee Brewers in the city through 2050
and for upgrades to American family field.
Tom, Kelly.
Yeah, he mentioned that in his victory speech, too.
It was a big week for him and for Wisconsin, for sure.
All right, thank you.
All right. Well, Wisconsin has
been a closely watched swing state for the election cycle.
Definitely. Fox 9 political analyst Blois
Olson joins us. So the closer look,
unpacking the results. Obviously,
we just talked about the governor's seat there.
Democrats put a lot of focus on this and really felt like maybe they
could do this. And now they've got control,
which hasn't happened in a while.
Well, they've had control of the governor's office.
They just flipped the legislature in Wisconsin.
But they haven't had a full trifecta since 2008.
In 2010, since 2010, the legislature's been controlled by Republicans.
Democrats take an 18-15 lead in the Senate
and a 53-46 lead in the Assembly.
Now, so they'll have their first Democratic trifecta since 2008.
Eight.
They had a very volatile governor's race,
Crowley got out, he got back in, he beat Samantha
Hong in a primary, Tom Tiffany crashed his plane into a lake,
so just the idea that this
all settled out, but a state that went Trump,
Biden, Trump, has been very close, for it
to be done that early gives you an idea
that the national trend hit there too.
Right, and when you look at this, kind of the single biggest...
Takeaway for you from Wisconsin
and the results here as we look towards 2028, what is that takeaway?
What do you say, where do we move forward from here?
We are seeing it all across the country, but we saw it in Wisconsin.
Southwestern Wisconsin, which was Trump territory,
ag country, flipped blue across the board.
In Congress, in the legislature.
Farmers left Trump, there's no doubt about it.
Were we seeing that in other states as well?
We did.
We saw it in Kansas.
We saw it in Iowa.
We saw it here in Minnesota.
That first congressional district where Leah just was,
that's one of those races where
the ag economy was no doubt part of the factor in those results.
All right, Boyce, thank you as always.
Our political analyst, Boyce Olson, will be with us all morning long.
We're going to work him out hard on this day.

Boyce, thanks again.
