Robot dog designed to help investigators arrest suspects

This is an interesting story as well. So this robot dog has helped investigators arrest a suspect. Our Maria Guzman is joining us live now to talk about this case and how this dog even got involved and helped. Hey Maria. Hey, Jasmine. Yeah, so we're here in Undaunted in the office right here. So this is called the staging room. But I'm going to go ahead and put my camera to introduce you guys to Brian. And he's going to tell us how these robot dogs helped investigators catch a suspect. So Brian, we are here with all the robotic dogs. Talk to me about the role they played in helping decap investigators. Yeah, so we've had explosive growth over the last year since you guys first covered us. We now have the largest robotic security fleet in the country. We actually have more security robots here in Atlanta than the rest of the country has combined. And so one of the new properties that we started at, sadly, had a gang war breaking out. And our job is to enforce the property rules. And we were talking to the cab about the issues they were facing, and they called us and said, hey, have you seen this vehicle? Left the property around this time. We're like, yeah, we actually just told them they were violating the property rules. We've got a close-up image. Of the person getting into the suspected murder vehicle shortly before the incident occurred, I think. And that was able to help them identify it. So it's actually the first time that a robot has ever helped solve a murder investigation. Yeah, and this case did happen this summer, so it's very new, it's very recent. Talk to me about the technology behind the robots, because they do have a camera, and who is watching the cameras? Yeah, we've got a few operators here in the U.S. The majority are operated out of our mission control teams. The robots are, you can see them here, but they're watching the cameras across the property. And then they deploy the robots out of their charging docks, also called dog houses. What was this? As you can see over here, we're assembling the payloads that sit on top of the robots. These include microphones, speakers, low-light cameras, backwards and forwards, about almost 360. And so we're able to do so in a much safer, more efficient, more cost-effective way than a traditional guard would. Which has led to this explosive growth. And now you guys have been in the market for over a year. So talk to me about how many apartment complexes that you guys are in so far. We're in just under 60 properties. About 70% of those are apartment complexes. And every property has at least two robots per property. Some have slightly more. And so we've got 137 now out in the field. Goal is to get to 200 by end of year. And then just last question, what is the relationship that you guys play, for example, with law enforcement and officers? What's the role? Yeah, so we do private security. In the simplest form, we are a walking security camera with a person on the other side. When we do have issues, we do contact authorities. We provide properties the option, but not the requirement, to share their video feeds with law enforcement in high-urgency situations, and we rely on them to enforce the laws. You're never going to see one of these robots have a weapon on it. We let officers enforce the laws, and we're just there to make sure people are following property policy. Awesome. Well, thank you so much. Again, a robot dog here helping investigators identify and arrest a suspect in DeKalb County. I'll send things back to you guys from downtown Atlanta. All right, Maria, sounds good. Pretty cool here. Thanks for showing us this. We'll check in with you a little bit later this afternoon.
