A major shift in power. Republicans suffering losses across
the country on midterm election night.
Republicans did win the Senate and governor's races in Florida,
but the balance of power is changing nonetheless in Tallahassee.
Several Democrats flipped Republican seats here.
Stephanie Buffamanti joining us live this evening.
So, Stephanie, things are going to look
a little different during Florida's next legislative session.
It's been in the headlines all day today
that a blue wave has swept the nation.
And experts argue that here in Florida,
the state had its own version of a blue wave.
Democrats taking a victory lap after a historic win
in Tuesday's midterm elections, sweeping battleground
states President Trump previously won by double digits.
If I was on the ballot, we would have won.
It's the political equivalent of a meteor strike
that went all around the United States.
Governor Ron DeSantis said Republicans in Florida were able
to hold the line and maintain Republican control.
But there was enough of a Democrat surge in Florida where Florida
Republicans no longer have a super majority in the statehouse.
I do think that Democrats have a bit more power in Tallahassee
because they've got 50 out of the 120 seats.
That's not the majority, but it is a sizable increase from.
The 35 that they had before.
Statewide, voters flipped 16 statehouse seats from red to blue,
including at least five in Central Florida.
Democratic turnout was up.
There was a lot more Democrats showing up,
and a lot of these NPAs and independents
were probably leaning Democratic,
according to polling.
And that's probably the biggest factor that helped.
The Democrats in Florida actually win some state houses.
That was not a blue wave. That was a blue tsunami.
Fox News business contributor Gary Kampbaum says it comes down
to Americans' wallets.
People were speaking loud and clear, actually screaming it.
And a certain party better recognize
this as we go through to 28th and 30th.
Leave no doubt, affordability is huge.
And Governor Ron DeSantis said that he believes
Amendment 3 brought out Republican voters to the polls.
Now that that has passed,
we will dive into what it means for you and your family tonight at 11.
