East Northport neighbors report string of vehicle thefts and break-ins caught on camera

It wasn't just a piece of metal. It was something I put extra money into. Eric Fackner says his car wasn't in the driveway when he woke up Wednesday morning. And after filing a police report for the stolen vehicle, he found out he wasn't the only neighbor affected. Then we heard back later on at 10 o'clock that it happened to be a neighborhood thing that many more cars were taken and broken into. Police confirmed that three cars were reported stolen Wednesday morning. Eric's Dodge Durango was stolen on 8th Street. A Honda Acura was stolen on 10th Ave. And a Mercedes-Benz was stolen on 6th Street. Security video from a neighbor shows three cars pulling over before one of them heads down 8th Street. And a few minutes later, all four cars drive away together. I put love into it, so yes, I would like it back. It was my baby. Other neighbors say their cars were broken into and the thieves took anything valuable. Timestamps from security footage show that the group was in the neighborhood for at least an hour before driving off. She'll wait. This morning we see people on the camera going through our driveway. Keith Alaco says his cameras caught someone in dark clothes, gloves, and a ski mask looking into his cars. He says he's lucky they were locked and nothing was stolen. It's a little unnerving, a little jarring. To have somebody violate your space like that and go through your stuff. But the incident is leaving neighbors worried. It's terrible. It's in your neighborhood and, you know, someone's close to home. It's coming and violating your property and who knows what else. In East Northport, Suffolk County, Jenna Rae Gartner, News 12.
