New York Representative Hakeem Jeffries says Massachusetts Representative
Catherine Clark will become the first woman in U.S. history
to serve as the majority leader in the House of Representatives.
The American people didn't just reject the failures
and broken promises of the last two years.
They didn't just vote for damage control.
They have entrusted a Democratic Congress
to lead us forward to something better.
Clark has been serving in the House since 2013
and is currently the minority whip.
This shift in power also means Jeffries is poised to become
the first black man to serve as Speaker of the House.
He'll need to win a floor vote once
the new Congress convenes in January.
