Governor Maura Healey, easily projected winner
over Republican challenger Mike Minogue.
This race called about 60 seconds after
polls closed tonight in Massachusetts.
We have crews crisscrossing the state and out in New Hampshire.
Let's go live now to Boston 25 News reporter Amal Elhel.
Amal, you're at the Healey headquarters in Boston.
We just heard from the governor.
What did she have to say?
Yeah, we're inside the historic Fairmont Copley Plaza
and the energy is high after the AP called
Governor Maura Healey as the winner
in the 2026 gubernatorial race here in Massachusetts. She just
took the stage for her victory speech.
It was full of thanks and she also addressed her Republican
challenger Mike Minogue. Take a listen.
And to those who supported my opponents in this race,
Here's my promise. Here's my promise. I'll show up for you.
I'll fight for you. I'll be a governor for everyone.
Governor Healey has been running on a campaign
that she says will focus on housing affordability,
lowering costs for families and education,
and tonight she spoke about furthering those efforts.
She made history as the state's first female governor
and says she wants to continue doing the work she's been focusing on.
For the past four years and it looks like she's given being given
a chance to do that staying in office for a second term.
She only just got off the stage a couple of minutes ago
and you can tell that the energy is still very high in this room.
For now we're live in Boston. Amal Elhel for your local station.
Boston 25 News. Our thanks to Amal.
