And good morning, this
is the unprepared
edition of BAM.
As we're jumping in, trying to get things going,
my counter's saying zero, there's a monitor
all the way over there,
we're trying to get the cameras all set up with everything that's
going on, somebody's calling me right now, who clearly is not watching.
This is not her time right now.
Look at you.
Like, I told you to take some time off, man.
You all right?
I'm trying to make it through.
Whew, child.
Yeah.
We bare bones.
I'm trying to hang in there.
Listen.
I hear all that, though.
Like, that's kind of where we are right now.
Let's do what we got to do.
We're going to be bare bones.
You start spreading something around this joint.
I have, so.
I know you good.
Been to the doctor.
I know you good.
I'm not contagious.
I just don't like to see you suffer.
Thank you.
So I'd rather you suffer at home.
Negative for COVID, negative for flu.
So he just doesn't want to see you suffer.
I don't want to see myself suffer.
That's not good.
We'll see how the rest of this week goes, because child.
I got tea upstairs.
You want a little something?
I'm about to run to the cafe and get her a cup of tea right now.
Yeah, you're going to take care of that?
Yeah.
So all the home remedies and stuff that people have.
You need something to coat the throat, though, like something warm.
Like, that water don't do it.
That ----'s wet.
You know, as soon as we start doing this,
you're going to start getting hit up on social
media, like every remedy that people have right now.
You need a hot toddy.
This has been two weeks, so we'll see.
I told you, mine's just like four weeks before it cleared out.
Like, I'm just clearing it out of my body after four weeks.
It's crazy.
I feel like the fact that I'm the sickly one at the table
means that I got the heavy-duty medication.
Pass it over.
I was sick.
You went to the doctor.
I didn't go to the doctor.
I just toughed it out like Alex is doing.
They're like,
these are some serious antibiotics
we're going to give them to you.
Two days later, I was like...
Yeah, I was right back.
I've been seen by two doctors.
I did go to urgent care over the weekend,
and it looks like I'm heading back somewhere.
This was the first day I woke up
without feeling the scratch on my throat
in like a month.
Oh, congrats.
So this is what you got to look forward to.
Well, I can't wait.
Thank you.
I can't wait.
The health and wellness edition of BAM today.
Brought to you by Color Madness.
All right.
If things don't go as well as possible,
then you might need somebody to work on your behalf.
Yeah.
Might as well.
Before we go ahead and jump into the topics at hand,
all those things we were talking about,
you may need someone on your side.
We'll tell you who in 15 seconds.
Wrong graphic, Mike.
We eat, sleep,
and breathe
personal
injury.
Our clients are our family, and we protect our family.
People can rely on us as if they could rely on a family member.
We know exactly what to do.
That's why people call us.
There you go.
Do you know what to do?
Now, Cortland Manners is a part
of the completely unprepared edition of BAM.
There we go.
As we jump into the topics at hand.
Thank you, Cortland Manners.
Appreciate you.
All right.
Jumping into the topics of the day.
Social media, we all talk about it.
We've got our counters here.
Mine's saying zero for some reason.
Back in zero, too.
I thought you said, oh, no, I'm back in the game.
My Twitter's back in zero.
I don't know what's going on.
So there is a group, and they go viral every now and then.
They've gone viral again because they go out into the community
and they provide food to the homeless.
Nice thing to do, right?
They are out there.
They're out there pretty consistently.
And so I would imagine that providing food to the homeless
with some level of consistency,
and you're an individual, could be pretty expensive.
Right.
So, somebody challenged them on how they're paying
for providing food to the unhoused.
Here's what they had to say.
I don't want any pizza.
I've been out here since November.
You come out here all the time, and it's troubling to me.
I just want to know,
how many views and likes does it take to feed these people?
You come out here all the time, and it's troubling to me.
I just want to know,
how many views and likes does it take to feed these people?
Um...
Like, I know for a fact you're helping the homeless, and it troubles me
that I know for a fact you're helping the homeless, but like...
It's also troubling to me that you're also getting views and likes.
Well, that's how we keep it going.
Yeah, I know. I know. Like, where do I draw the line?
I don't want any pizza.
So, this person was out there, confronted this group.
So, the way it apparently is working is,
in order for them to fund this,
they provide the meals, but they also post on social media.
So, they're getting likes and follows and,
at least in theory, sponsorship.
That is helping to pay for all of this.
And it sparked the whole discussion over, once again, who's the jerk?
Is it the person who's coming up and confronting,
saying, I know that you're helping people,
but I don't like the fact that you're getting likes and follows for it?
Or the person who was pretty honest and was like,
that's how I'm able to afford to do this.
Whose side are you falling in on this?
Look, man, I get both sides of it, right?
But I'm like, this dude is out here helping people who need help.
And it comes at a price.
And if you don't want to get, you don't want to be part of the likes
and the followers system, don't take his food.
It's that simple.
You know what I'm saying?
It's like, yo, like, you, you know,
don't attack the guy who's trying to help you out of a bad situation.
He's got to finance this some way, somehow.
Like, should he just come out of his pocket,
just like, and I mean, some people can.
We don't have it.
It's like, you just, you just stop.
Right.
Should he just stop?
And that's the other side.
Like, okay, I'm going to quit with the likes
and the follows and everything.
And God bless y'all.
I'm out.
Like, what's worse?
You know what I'm saying?
I'd rather he go out here.
And if you got to record it
and that helps you feed people, keep doing it, man.
And if people got a problem with it, don't eat his food.
Don't take, you know what I mean?
Don't react to the videos and stuff.
Because then I get some more engagement.
Oh, you're talking about the people watching.
Don't react.
Yeah, but I guess then he won't have the money
and the sponsorship to go forward.
That's why this was a challenging one.
And I couldn't tell if the dude who walked up to him was unhoused
or he was just somebody who sees him on social media
because he said, I've been out here since February.
So I'm like, are you eating his food also?
You know what I'm saying?
And maybe he is.
And maybe he feels shame that this dude is,
you know, posting this stuff on social media.
But at the same time, man, and I know it sounds terrible
to say it like this, but, like, yo,
your backers can't be choosy.
You know what I mean?
It's a fine line.
You got to reach it out.
You want a handout.
But then you're telling me.
How I should give you this handout.
Like, yo, just take it and be happy you're getting it, man.
I think it's a fine line.
And I think the one area, because I was all on board
with the guys doing what they have to do to provide for people.
It would be nice if all of the independently wealthy people
who could just fund it did it.
But that ain't where we live.
But that's not right.
It is what it is.
The only area, the only gray area that I had with all
of it was that I was the one who blurred the faces.
Right.
And so when we posted the video,
I just didn't want people's faces on there.
I understand not necessarily wanting,
if you're out there and in need of a meal or what have you,
not wanting to be broadcast on social media.
So I get that side of it.
But I think you can also confront homeboy and be like,
listen, man, I appreciate the help, man,
but I really would appreciate if you
didn't put me up on your social media.
I don't think he would have a problem.
I don't know him.
But I feel like if your heart is big enough that you're coming out
and you're making this your mission.
That if I confronted you and said, hey, man, I appreciate the help,
but I would also appreciate that you didn't share
my image on your social media.
I think that's fair.
You would say to me, no problem, Mike.
Here, you know what I mean?
Take this food and God bless you.
Move on.
You know what I mean?
I hope things get better.
Like, I would think that that's how the guy would react.
But, you know, I wouldn't just put him on blast and say,
yo, don't do this no more.
I don't like the way you're doing this.
This guy is helping a lot of people, man.
We need that, man, you know, and it's usually the people
who have the least that are ones who are most willing to help.
You know what I'm saying?
And so I don't know what this dude's pockets look like, but he made it
his mission to come out here and help people who need help, man.
And I'm not getting in the way of that.
Yeah, I'm on board like that.
The only area I had, we made it the question of the day.
The only question I had is what we talked about.
Like, don't it feels like when you start showing faces, it transitions
from doing what you have to do to raise funds to potentially
exploiting people who don't necessarily want to be on camera.
And I think that's, as you said,
that's a reasonable request to say, don't put me on camera.
It was our question of the day.
A lot of people jumping in.
Some of our influencers, people who help a lot of people,
like Cass in the City, somebody who has been here.
Hey, Cass.
She chimes in.
What up, Cass?
Yeah, we got to get her back in.
She's been modeling for the Flyers and also being the in-studio host.
Yeah, isn't she?
Is she there?
Yeah, she's the in-arena host.
Yeah, so during the season, she's a little busy.
Yeah, and all her social media stuff.
But we would love to have her come on back in.
Cass, you free next week?
Come hang out, man.
Bill won't be here.
I'll have you.
You got this seat.
Well, that seat right there.
So Cass says, if the person is showing
their faces, then yes, it's gross.
Targeting vulnerable populations for views,
likes, money is exploitation.
You can easily document efforts to feed the homeless,
the setup, everything else,
without actually showing the people who are there.
And we all kind of agreed on that.
Perfect Day Photography says,
as long as their hearts are in it for the right reasons
and they don't video anyone without their permission.
Again, that seems to be the
the same trend. Netta says
that they're consistently feeding the homeless.
It doesn't matter that they use social platforms to encourage sponsors
or donations to help support their cause. That's pretty much everybody,
as long as they're using the money to feed the homeless
and not for themselves to sit there and make extra money.
Now, that's a that's gray area because who knows?
How big their platform ends up becoming
and how far it goes on social media.
It's still part of their mission, man.
It's like saying the church shouldn't get any extra money.
There's a lot of people who say that.
You know what they do.
You know what I'm saying?
I mean...
All valid points.
All right.
We're going to take a quick break.
Yesterday was Election Day.
All of us in some capacity were on the air on Election Day.
All over my feed were news anchors who were saying what they're
not allowed to or not supposed to wear during Election Day.
I'm curious if you guys had heard that.
I haven't heard that.
We only got one big-time anchor sitting at the table with us.
And I don't know what, like, she had on green,
so she was, like, played down the middle.
Mike didn't read the handbook, so we don't know.
Quick break, we'll be right back.
I know, I know, I know.
But I had a new vote shirt, and I had a black-ass shirt
that I'm a voter shirt on.
Yeah, that's interesting.
We both had vote shirts on.
You the only one who, like...
Bill, Alex, and Mike on the airwaves giving what you like.
Topics on fleek, 11 o'clock every day of the week.
On Fox Local.
Let's go.
It's BAM.
Right now it's BAH.
Bill and Alex.
Because, and we share this information,
because as much of a hard time as I give Mike,
you don't always give Mike a hard time.
Not always.
Much of a hard time as I give Mike.
People don't always see that Mike's genuinely a good dude.
Yeah, he's definitely a good dude.
What?
No, nothing.
What's going on with the camera?
I don't know.
There we go.
Okay.
There we go.
Yeah, he's definitely a good dude.
Maybe we didn't want to show him.
Mike's not here.
Thank you.
Today?
Something about today.
What's going on?
Thank you.
Anyway, so Mike went to go make you some tea.
Which was very sweet.
He said the water's not enough.
So we're going to, you know, get some tea
and hopefully that'll help so I can get through.
It's good stuff.
We'll see.
You need a throat coat.
upstairs. I have throat coat, yes. I got throat coat.
I got Echinacea Plus with the elderberry.
You got all the remedies. You got a whole medicine cabinet.
All the teas. I do. The numbing throat
spray to sit there because much like you,
there's situations where we just can't take off. So you
keep going. There's a lot of people watching
who can't take off. Yeah. You just keep going. So
anyway, Mike will be back. I'm sitting here watching this.
So my Facebook came back up and
But now my Instagram is at zero.
Oh, so it's like you can only show a few at a time or something?
Rotating around, like it only wants me to have people supporting me.
Anyway, so I saw like four
or five different news anchors all in my feed from various stations,
various networks, all local news, who all were working on Election Day.
And they all said that there is a policy.
That they have been told that on election day,
you can't wear either blue or red.
Thank you, beautiful.
No.
That looks like syrup.
I don't know what that was.
That looks like syrup.
I'll get it on the break.
You said it was over top of the refrigerator?
No, over top of the sink.
Oh, I went to the wrong joint.
Thank you.
I hope you didn't put that in there.
I put that in there.
I was like, yeah, I got to double check this joint.
That looks a little thick.
Bill got bourbon.
Yeah, like, we don't want to share this.
I don't know what we got, but go, I'm sorry.
So the...
Can't wear blue or red as a journalist on election day.
And several stations said that that was the policy
that they've always been taught.
I've been here now 12 years, hosted a couple of election specials,
and nobody ever said that to me.
Is that a rule that has been presented?
I've never heard that rule.
It's been said to me, yeah.
Really?
That's why you had on green yesterday.
Yeah.
I usually end up doing purple or green.
Huh, okay.
Or something neutrally, purple's the best
because it's red and blue, so it's like both.
But that's why I wore green yesterday
and there was no, because yeah.
I had on gray yesterday.
Just by accident.
But I had on blue last night for the political special
we hosted, it was like a blue jacket.
Yeah, one time I came to work
and me and my co-anchor, we don't have our plan
and we happened to wear the same color.
I think we both happened to be wearing blue
and yeah, we got to talk about it
because you don't want to be swaying.
I've learned to make a conscious effort to purple,
green, whatever is like...
Huh. Okay. You?
Now, we're hosting BAM, so it's a little different.
They don't even care what our politics are.
No.
No.
But I hosted a national political show, and they didn't say anything.
I mean, I've been on TV 20 minutes, though.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
They're still trying to figure out
what rules they need to remind me of.
They're like,
With Mike, there's so many rules
that we've got to go ahead and enforce.
They're like, let's fight one.
Let him wear what he wants to wear.
One at a time.
If he crosses the bridge, we'll let him know that that was wrong.
We'll move forward.
But I get it.
But you know what I mean?
I get it.
I understand where it's coming from now that you mentioned it.
You don't want people to just look at the screen
and be like, yo, they got on blue.
They must be Democrats.
Or they got on red.
They must be Republicans.
And that's kind of how people look at newscasters now.
It is what it is.
So I feel like a couple things.
I get it.
One, and tell us.
Hit us up on social media.
Because that's all based on what you apparently.
Think about when you see somebody
wearing something. Tell us, do you
actually look at people on the screen and go,
he's got on whatever.
They must be a certain political...
I think it comes with how they talk, too.
You know what I'm saying?
But you can talk one way and be wearing a purple suit.
But it's about how you're also talking about it.
Like, you're talking about the
different candidates and all this, and so
they're looking at you, they're wearing red, they might be Republican.
That's why they're saying that when we're trying to give analysis.
Sometimes it can be...
Yeah, I think that's how you can kind of...
People just start making their own assumptions.
You know what I mean?
I think that's challenging.
After the show, I had to switch
because it got hot yesterday, in my opinion.
So I switched and I couldn't find something really quickly.
So I was trying to hurry up and get to the polls.
So I changed to my FIFA shirt.
FIFA 26 is the closest thing I could get.
And it happened to be red.
So I posted a video about how, you know,
everybody has to show proof that they voted.
And some people were like, oh, red, I see.
Red, red.
So people do look.
And I was like, guys, it's a FIFA shirt.
Like, we should all wear blue today.
You got on blue?
You got on blue?
It was a blue wave.
Oh, my gosh.
You don't have a blue shirt.
You're not going to get your five grand now, though.
Y'all blew that.
Oh, my gosh.
Blew that.
Oh, my gosh.
I feel like I'm owed like $13,000
from promises that were supposed to happen.
Things happened.
So blew my $5,000.
I don't know that I own that much.
You guys talked to me about not wearing green during the Eagles.
Like, I'm just a creature of habit.
Well, that's only for like the sports sports people.
Because I wear green every Friday.
So I wore a green sweater earlier this week.
I think it's the only green sweater that I own.
And I put it on.
I don't know.
I don't own a lot of red.
So if I put something on,
it would have been a conscious effort to put it on.
But I own a whole bunch of blue just
because there's a guy wearing suits and pants and shirts and whatever.
He's like wearing red.
I look like Steve Harvey.
Steve Harvey wears all the colors.
Yes, he does.
Teal, purple, and bright.
The green is rainbow and velvet.
Yeah, he does it all, so you ain't got to worry about that.
Freaking lavender velvet suit.
Right.
What are you doing?
And what does it mean?
Right.
What's the message that you're sending?
And the shirt and the tie is the same exact color.
Hello.
The hat, long.
So we have all heard this, because I hadn't.
No, she heard it.
And other anchors who have posted.
It's not just me.
No, there was a lot of them.
Some of them in this market, some of them national,
working for all the major networks.
We're all talking about it.
And it just made me go.
Stay tuned for other anchor rules of life.
Right.
I'll fill you in on everything.
We'll share those.
All right.
Quick break.
What's the hair rule?
Hair is out of the, they don't bother you with that, right?
It used to be a, yeah, a big thing.
That's gone.
I think, but there's still like, you can't just like dye it blue.
Like you have to go in and tell.
The crown that gave y'all a little freedom.
Yeah, well, back in the day, when I was in radio,
they said that that male, particularly black men
with full facial hair looked like scary and intimidating.
Yeah, you know, facial hair was a thing, no facial hair when I was in school.
Yeah, they were a lot of people.
They were like, you got no shot dude, but look at us now.
Tightly groomed. Yeah. All right. Quick break. We'll be right back.
Stay tuned. I'm going to get the honey. Thank you.
Put this back in the one over top of somebody's liquor cabinet.
Yeah. Over top of the tea. That one was sitting there.
Bill, Alex, and Mike on the airwaves giving what you like.
Topics on fleek, 11 o'clock every day of the week.
Sweet on Fox Local Conversations.
Look how Bill is living.
He got money.
I ain't never seen a thing of honey this big.
Listen.
This is huge.
Y'all also see the generic label.
Can I get a close-up, please?
Like on the top of it.
Can I get a close-up?
Because I'm like, wait for it.
I'm like, listen, look at this.
Look at her head.
Oh, my God.
I was like, does this cost $80?
Because honey is not cheap.
You've been using it up, too.
I tell y'all, I go to the wholesale club.
You get a two-pack of those.
So I got one at home, one here, the two-pack of the lemon juice.
So you can do the honey and lemon.
Come on, Bill.
You got to use real lemons and local honey.
Real lemons are too much work.
I have local honey.
You have to see, even though some people may not count as real,
but I could buy the bag of the seedless lemons.
So I have no worries.
Just cut and squeeze, cut and squeeze.
Because it's the seeds that I'm worried about when you squeeze.
Oh, God, a seed dropped in.
Let me get it out.
I got about 500 lemons in that bottle.
You just spit the, oh, my God.
Keep it moving.
Of course you do.
So trifling.
Exactly.
All right.
I need a ruling on whether or not this person was wronged
or this person is just a baby.
So, a grown man has a birthday, well,
it's his birthday, but there is no celebration.
So, if we could pull up the post that is up
on social media of this grown man.
Today was my birthday, but we were up
early for my wife's niece's wedding.
I was annoyed, but I figured we'd still have the evening.
We got home around 2, changed, ordered pizza,
watched a movie, etc., etc., etc.
The family was there, kids, everyone tired.
Halfway through the movie, my wife said she
was exhausted and going to bed.
By 9 p.m., the whole house was asleep.
So I spent my birthday at the gym because apparently
that's the only place that still remembers that I exist.
Happy birthday to me.
This is what you said, Selfish.
You got to be about you.
But this is whining.
This is different.
This is a grown man who's whining because he had to get up
and go to his niece's wedding and they didn't celebrate his birthday.
I'm sure his wife said happy birthday to him.
I'm sure the kids said happy birthday to him.
It's like, so what?
She went to bed at 9 o'clock.
B, go out.
Go buy yourself a cocktail.
Go to the gym, because they're the only place that cares about it.
Right, like, come on, man.
Get out of here with that.
Bunch of haters.
First, one of the earliest things you learn when you're married
and you make kids, you don't count no more.
You don't count.
Like, you got kids.
You got a wife.
She's dealing with these children and all that.
Man, she ain't worried about you.
So what is your birthday?
It kind of feels like grow up.
Right.
It is.
Now, if they completely ignored it.
So what?
At least, I got to at least get a happy birthday.
And if you don't, then what?
Then I would probably, I mean, I wouldn't put a whole post up.
I'd come in here and talk about it.
Thank God they completely forgot me.
But they could say happy birthday.
But you go into the whole,
I'm going to the gym because that's the only place that cares about me.
They don't care about you either.
No, you're paying them.
You're right.
You pay a membership.
That's the only reason they care.
So this wouldn't be you.
Nah, not even close.
I'd just be like, yo, babe, y'all going to forget my birthday?
Right.
And they'd be like, yep.
I'd be like, all right.
I'd swing by Bread and Becks, get you some cupcakes, by the way.
See if Miss Corinne will make you a crunch cake.
I'd just drink a little tequila until I passed out.
Happy birthday to me.
Happy birthday to me.
Me, right?
Are you ready?
Do you pout if people don't celebrate the birthday?
Would I pout?
I don't know.
I don't know about pout, but I'd like to be celebrated, yeah.
But I don't think I'd – it doesn't have to be that day.
No Reddit post for you?
You can always do another day and pick a day to – you know.
With my birthday, I celebrated it like four or five months later.
I didn't go on a trip to like – so I think
it's whenever you make it and you declare it.
That's what I'm saying.
It's your birthday.
It ain't her birthday.
Go do something for yourself.
That's the selfish we were talking about.
That's good stuff.
Yeah.
All right.
So wine is all of our vote.
Yeah.
You're just whining.
Quit your whining.
She might leave him.
Oh, my gosh.
This little punk I'm married to.
That guy's a little extreme.
Whining punk.
Right?
She's watching right now going, yo, you wrote to Bam?
Yeah.
Quick break.
We'll be right back to wrap it up here on Bam.
Let's see who else is whining today.
Send us your messages.
Alex and Mike.
Alex and Mike.
Yeah, man, that citrus punch be official.
You got to just squeeze them, Jones B.
What happened?
Citrus punch.
You get all them grapefruits, man,
the grapefruits, the oranges, the lemons,
all the ones you don't eat in your tea and whatever.
You have a juicer?
Yeah, we juiced them.
I mean, a manual juicing by hand.
It takes all of five minutes.
Yeah?
You take all that fruit and make your own citrus punch?
Yeah, citrus punch.
I squeeze all them joints, take
a little cup of sugar, throw it in there.
Some water.
This dude shocks you all the time.
Some, you know, the grapefruits, the lemons,
the oranges that I got left over
that we didn't get through throughout the week.
Okay.
Make a pitcher of punch, man.
Mix it with some tequila again.
Or I use it with my champagne for my mimosas.
Like, listen, ain't nothing like
fresh squeezed citrus juice in your mimosa.
That'll change a Sunday.
All right.
We gonna go.
There you go.
Hope you feel better.
Thank you.
Thank you guys for the tea and honey.
Oh, good.
Look at them being sweet.
Every day, learn something different about this dude.
We got to get ready to get up out of here.
