Chattahoochee Technical College hosts WorkSource job fair

Let's get out to our Eli Jordan to talk about this opportunity that's being held in Marietta. You can fall into your next job opportunity. This job fair is connecting people to more than 20 employers. So, Eli, thanks so much for joining us to talk about this. Yes. Hey, yeah, good morning, Jasmine. Yeah, I'm out here at Chattahoochee Technical College, the Marietta Campus, 980 South Cobb Drive, Building H. It's going on until 1 p.m., and they do have a lot of opportunities. opportunities out here, WorkSource Cobb, WorkSource Georgia Cobb is out here, and they are hosting this with the Center for Family Resources, and joining me right now with WorkSource Cobb is Nurkiz Brea. Hey, Nurkiz, how you doing? Very good. Thank you for being here. Thanks for having us. But this is, people can get more than just, you know, find a job. They can get some... You know, critique about the resume and things like that here, correct? That is correct. We're the ones that are hosting, and we help them with the resume, how they should dress. We also try to connect them with funding so they can get trained and go into the field if that's what they're trying to do. So we definitely invite them to come on over, probably get hired, dress well, bring your resume, be ready, and learn about different opportunities in healthcare, manufacturing. warehouse and public safety. We have different things going on. Child care. We have different schools, staffing agencies. So please get dressed. I know it's tough through this rain, but come on up that we are waiting for you. And we have these employers waiting to talk to you as well. And with the rain, you know, it's not as crowded as I've seen it before, but that means more opportunities await. Employers are still looking to hire urgently, so that just gives you a better chance to speak to them, have a one-on-one, and hear them out, what they're looking for, what can you offer. And are people getting hired on the spot here, potentially? Yes. Some of the employers are grabbing the resume, setting up interviews right now, and seeing if you are a good fit for the roles that they have. And so, this is going on until 1 o'clock. Correct. But if you go to worksourcecobb.org and you sign up, what will people get with that sign-up? Yes. We promote this type of event. We do job fairs. We do a job fair every once in a while, like quarterly we do a job fair and we also partner with other job fairs so you're going to get that information whenever we have a job fair and you get weekly job leads if you're looking for a job. If you come into our offices we can help you also work on your resume so please, if not able to come in today, drop into one of our offices. Yeah, and the weekly, I'm going to bring it in frame, I mean it's nice, it's got the job listings and it has like how much they pay per hour, which is important for when people are job shopping. So what are some of the key mistakes you say people make whenever they come here looking Go in for an interview. They don't speak on their behalf as well. They don't come dressed properly. They forget their resume sometimes. Not necessarily a mistake, but also they don't follow up. So, keep up with those employers. And also, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Go ahead, apply it to different places, and see which one has the right fit for you. Be flexible. Don't have your mind set on just one field, I guess. What all different fields do we have out here? So, as you can see, we do have something in the food industry, service, hospitality. It's manufacturing. We even have chat tech also recruiting for different students if you're trying to level up your skills. WorkSource is also talking about the different apprenticeships that we have and GED programs that we're offering. We'll also have public safety and different staffing agencies that are looking for administrative work and different... Thank you so much, WorkSourceCobb. Thank you. And if you want more information, they'll help you out, WorkSourceCobb.org. Go there.
