This is a major victory, not for me.
This is a major, major victory for all of us.
And we have seen the results
across the country,
and they're still coming in.
We know that this is now a point in history
where
America has
turned.
Those of you from this county know that 250 years ago,
America turned not far from where we stand right now.
We are turning it again.
We are turning it away from the negative,
from the ugly, from the heartless, from the
ignorant, from those who would take us backward
and who would divide us and make us fight
each other.
And instead, we are turning toward the America
that we have always wanted to be and have
been at brief times in our past.
A time when we are with each other,
helping each other, hands to each other, pulling
each other up.
There is so much more work to do.
The last 18 months of this campaign have been about building a future
and building back the American dream
that so many of us were raised to believe in
and so many in this country have yet to achieve.
We have taken a major step to doing that tonight here in this district.
And, yes, and we should
always think about
who we thank at this moment.
Start with thanking yourselves, okay?
Thank yourselves.
Round of applause for you.
No matter what you did, no matter what you've done
for this campaign, even just voting,
but postcards, door knocking, phone calls,
social media, everything you have done, putting
out signs, moving them when they moved ours
and putting them on yours, you can now take
credit for all the things we're going
to do to start rebuilding ourselves as a society,
as a country.
You can take credit for doing that.
That's you who did it.
That's you who did it.
Okay.
So, but I do want to thank, especially,
there's too many people to thank individually, you
know who you are, the people
who've been in the office doing the postcards and doing everything
that had to be done to make this victory happen.
I do want to thank, obviously, the people,
my campaign staff, Dan McCormick, who's somewhere
hiding.
And they're hiding back here.
But we've got so many people.
And as I'm starting to eat, I'm afraid I'm going to miss them.
So I see Anna.
We have Keely.
We have Kendra.
We've got Matt and Linto.
We've got Zoe somewhere.
I don't know where she is.
But Stephen, I see Stephen.
Who am I missing?
I know I'm missing somebody.
Grace Solstice.
Thank you, Solstice.
Our social media.
I do want to make sure that I'm thanking the people who,
of course, you know, I'm standing
next to our party chair, Steve Sinisero,
who's done an amazing work,
but this race, this
race was won, obviously, tonight,
thanks to all of you, but this party has built itself
up, and so we do have to thank people like John Cardisco,
who did build this party up
into what it was today, and there are some people,
and it's tough to see, but I know
there are people here who were in this party decades ago.
When there was a real struggle just to get people to run,
just to get people to run.
And we've lost people we know over the years
who worked their hearts out for this party
and did not live to see this day.
And so we have to keep those in our minds too.
And we've had standard bearers.
We've had the people that have held that flag high
when no one else was really there.
And no one has really done that more than Diane Marseille.
Thank you.
And I would be remiss if I did not thank a lot of the people.
I mean, I can't name everybody, but we definitely have to, you know,
thank the den mother of the Democratic Party
in Bucks County, Helene Ratner.
Where's Helene Ratner?
Where's she?
Helene Ratner.
And obviously, I have to thank those who are closest to me.
I used to tell people the past few months
when people said, you know, those signs,
those signs make me so mad.
And they used to say, and I was being serious.
I wasn't being funny.
Think about how my mother feels, okay?
And so for my mom.
And certainly, you know, what Brian Fitzpatrick
never thinks about when he's putting up signs
attacking somebody is that sometimes that person
has children. And so for Emma
and Brendan and Rob, thank you so much
for everything you've put up there.
And to Colleen,
thank you for
everything you've done
to help me through this time. It's 18 months.
My
father
passed away 20 years ago.
He was looking forward to voting for Patrick Murphy
but
passed away beforehand.
I'm
And so I think about him, I thought
about him all day today.
starting
And everything he taught me.
But I also want to acknowledge all the people
who ran for this seat before.
Who have helped build this party up.
to
So to Patrick Murphy.
speak
To Kathy Bavar.
To Kevin Strauss.
To Steve Sinisero.
To Scott Wallace.
now.
Christina Finello.
Ashley Ehasz.
All of them chipped and chipped and chipped and chipped away.
So we have done
a great thing.
I could not have done it without you.
It's just my name.
But I appreciate the trust you put in me to help rebuild this country.
But I'm going to keep leaning on you
as we should all lean on each other.
And we need to lift each other up.
We need to keep pushing forward.
We know there's a lot of work to do to help each other out,
help our neighbors, help our friends, and help rebuild this country.
And so let's get to work to do that now.
Thank you.
