Back here at home. It's been happening across the country.
There have been all kinds of different allegations
in fraternity houses. We've seen it in Cornell and in New York.
We've seen it obviously at Penn State.
And now we're seeing it right here in the city of Philadelphia.
Apparently Pi Kappa Phi and Lambda Chi.
Alpha, two fraternities at Drexel
are currently under interim suspension as the university is
reviewing reports of potential sexual misconduct and hazing.
You know, we even saw in West Virginia University
over the weekend, I think it was this weekend,
federal agents went into fraternity houses there.
So it's a question of what are they finding
and they're heightened alert. It's a question that
we will ask Greg. So Greg, what's going on?
I know you just got there, just trying to figure
out what's happening?
Yes.
I mean, just arriving here and we're on Powelton Ave
and that's actually where you have.
Both of those fraternities are located.
They're literally right next to each other.
And as you mentioned, it's the Lambda Chi Alpha and the Phi Kappa Psi.
Now, Drexel University, they had mentioned
that these two fraternities are currently
under interim suspension as the university reviews reports
of potential sexual misconduct
and hazing.
Now, they say this is consistent with university practice.
Matters of this nature are reviewed
in coordination with Drexel Student Conduct,
Office of Civil Rights Compliance, and Drexel Police to determine a
Appropriate next steps.
These offices remain in regular communication throughout
the investigation process to ensure
that all applicable procedures are followed.
Drexel did mention that they are committed
to maintaining a safe learning environment for all
students. The university does not tolerate sexual misconduct or hazing.
Drexel investigates all such
accusations as part of its conduct policies,
provides students with support resources
and channels for reporting potential conduct
and civil rights violations, including an anonymous
tip line. But one of the things that we have noticed,
and as you had mentioned, we literally
did just get here and we're actually trying to speak
with some students about this. Some weren't
We weren't even aware that this had occurred,
But others, they had mentioned, you know,
they don't know that much about it.
They don't want to say too much about it.
But one girl, she had said, you know.
She hopes everything goes all right, especially since,
as you guys had mentioned, it's been
a hot-button conversation and topic about these fraternities,
especially with that latest
situation over at Cornell.
And so that's kind of been the reaction,
and we're kind of working now to be able to try
to talk with some students.
We did see some folks that actually did enter inside,
and it appears as though they are
a part of the fraternity here, the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
We did see there were some folks that walked.
inside. None of them wanted to say anything on camera.
I know that it has been brought up of
trying to get in contact with the president of the fraternity
and we're working to try to get that. It
doesn't seem as though they're going to talk about
this situation in the early stages but
that's kind of where this stands at this
point in time and we're just going to be
working to try to get some reaction
from students here at Drexel University.
All right. Thank you, Greg. All right.
It is midterm day. It's election day.
