AI GeneratedThe Associated Press has called the California race for Becerra, who leads Steve Hilton 55% to 45%. Additionally, Democrats have achieved a major victory in Texas, with James Tallarico defeating Ken Paxton and Governor Greg Abbott conceding. While Hilton's supporters in Orange County remain hopeful, the candidate has yet to appear on stage following the results.
Numbers, according to the Associated Press,
are 55% for Becerra, 45% for Hilton.
And here's a look at that.
Range right there.
I also we will get to Hilton's camp, but I want to make it clear.
We also have some big news out of Texas. Texas ultimately has gone blue
with Democrat James Tallarico defeating Republican Ken Paxton.
That is significant. More than half a billion dollars spent there.
And then also in the gubernatorial race,
Greg Abbott has just conceded to the Democrat there.
So Democrat the Democrats have taken Texas ultimately.
Wanted to squeeze that in.
We'll work to get you some more information on Texas.
Back here in California, let's go to Steve Hilton's camp.
This is where Rachel Aragon picks up our coverage tonight.
Rachel?
Hey guys, yet despite the AP calling
that race for Becerra just now.
I can tell you people and supporters
for Hilton still trickling in here.
In this now crowded ballroom in Orange County at the Hyatt Regency
and something to point out that's interesting is that the screens here
at the campaign HQ in Orange County have not shown results
of any races all night, not locally and not national races either.
So right now you're still seeing people in somewhat good spirits.
I did notice though in the last few minutes people were looking
at their phone. Of course, I'm sure checking those results.
We caught up with Hilton about an hour and a half or so ago.
He did talk to the media and here's what he had to say.
about his campaign, and he also acknowledged,
you guys, the elephant in the room, which
is that the polls were never really in his favor.
Take a listen to what he had to say.
There's an energy for change in this state.
We've built something special here.
Whatever happens, I'm incredibly proud of what we've done here,
what we've built here,
and I'm very excited to fight for California,
because this state desperately needs change.
Now, right now, you're looking at the supporters
and surrogates who just took the stage so far.
They have not talked specifically about the results, but they did call
this a historic campaign that Steve Hilton has been running.
Again, we're expecting to hear from him later tonight,
but again, this is the latest here in Orange County.
I'll send it back to you guys in the studio.
Okay, I just want to make it clear
that Hilton himself is not there just yet.
He was here earlier before any race was called,
before the polls even closed.
He was here around 6.20, and that's when we talked to him, the media.
But since then, he has not come out on stage.
Okay, all right.
Well, as soon as he does, we'll bring
your shot up back here live for our viewers.
Thank you so much.
