Out live now to Silver Lake,
where L.A. mayoral candidate Nithya Raman is speaking to cameras.
Because the homelessness volunteer program that I led used
to run a weekly hot meal service here, which they still do.
So I was really happy to vote here.
I'm here with my parents, my in-laws and my brother's sister
and his I mean, my husband's sister and her family
and my brother and his wife, our little niece.
There she is and people are here from across
the country to be here with us on this day
and I'm really grateful for everyone's support.
I know you're doing it in the primary,
but officially in the election in November, you can't do that.
This was, it felt a little bit like an improbable moment.
I think this may be the shortest mayoral campaign
in this city's history, at least certainly in its recent history.
So to be here, to see the extent of support across the city,
which I talked to hundreds of voters just yesterday, across...
The entire breadth of Los Angeles,
who were all excited for a change from our really broken
status quo.
Four years of diminished services.
People are ready for hope.
People are ready for change.
People are ready for a city that really works for them.
And I was really excited to be able to share
in that vision of what Los Angeles can look
like in a better future with all of them.
What do you make of all the undecided voters still here
this morning wondering what they're
gonna vote for in this race?
I'm here because I know this city can work better
for every single one of its residents.
There is no Democratic or Republican way.
To fix a pothole,
there's no right or left way to fix a broken street light.
What I know is that the residents of Los Angeles deserve
a city with functional city services,
where their tax dollars that are going
to address issues like the cost of living and
our homelessness crisis are transparently spent
and that they have real results on our streets.
That is the city that I will deliver for them
if I'm lucky enough to be elected its mayor today.
Thank you.
Quick question here.
Brooke Thomas with Good Day LA.
What does it mean to you to have your family,
so many of your family members here with you
today?
It's overwhelming.
It's just I feel so lucky.
My parents and in-laws have been here
on and off helping with childcare throughout the
entire campaign.
My father and father-in-law have personally knocked on probably...
A thousand doors.
My dad is everyone's favorite canvasser.
The number of voters I meet across Los Angeles
who said they met my dad at a tabling booth
or at their door is just so...
I feel so lucky to have a family that has supported this vision
and they're in it because
They know that Los Angeles deserves a city that works for everyone.
And they're out here fighting for that.
They may not be full time residents of LA,
but they believe in that vision and they're fighting for it.
