Election Results: Ed Markey wins reelection to U.S. Senate in Massachusetts

Multiple Democratic candidates are speaking at a joint party tonight in Boston as the votes are being finalized and 22 news reporter Aretha Odaya joins us live in Back Bay with how the energy is over there. Yeah, that's right. Very happy Democrats here tonight in Back Bay. This is where Team Massachusetts is celebrating. That's Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Governor Maura Healey, Senator Ed Markey. They're all very excited. The energy is high in this room because all three of them have claimed victory. Now, supporters here tonight soaking up their win. Many speakers tonight calling these results a blue wave, especially after just finding out that the Democrats are on track to control the House with very early leads in Republican districts. We've heard speeches tonight from Attorney General Andrea Campbell, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, all here to support their colleagues. Again, Markey got that win he was looking for. The 80-year-old is headed back to Capitol Hill for a third term. Markey brought his wife on stage, and in his speech tonight, he shared what he's focused on moving forward. And tonight, we celebrate! Because tomorrow, we have work to do to save our democracy. We don't know yet the full outcome of today's elections around the country. But we do know that Donald Trump is the most corrupt. Markey beat three candidates, including Republican John Dean. Dean did concede. Markey says he spoke to Dean on the phone. They agreed to working together. Dean also putting out a statement saying he respects the voters' decision, wishing Markey only success. Now, again, all three of the Democrats who are hosting a party here tonight at the Fairmont Copley Hotel have claimed that victory.
