Election Results: Maura Healey wins reelection as Massachusetts governor

Governor Maura Healey gets a second four-year term. She defeated Republican Mike Minogue. And we have 22 News reporter Kaylee Thomas, who's live in Burlington, where he just lost Kaylee. I believe. All right, so Mike Minogue addressed dozens of supporters as his run does come to an end, calling it a rewarding experience and said he called Healey to congratulate her. Healy now has secured another four years in office. Healy and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll won re-election after a campaign centered on tax cuts, lower energy bills, affordability, and housing construction. Healy backs multifamily zoning near transit and cites 100,000 homes built, permitted, or under development, with a goal of doubling that in her next term. She supports the MBTA Communities Act, while Minogue wanted to put an end to it, ensuring the time to permit a single-family home to 45 days or less. She also said voters will see a focus on... AI including protections for the workforce, the economy, and online security. Tonight she addressed supporters following her win. Because for centuries the people of Massachusetts have sparked the change the world has needed to see. They've shown courage, they've shown resilience, and they've shown compassion in the face of challenge. That's because in Massachusetts we lead, we don't follow. Minogue said in his speech while the results weren't what they had hoped or worked for, Minogue said for them to not lose their optimism, saying an election determines who holds office but doesn't determine what they believe in. He also thanked supporters for having the courage to join his movement. Minogue said they gave the campaign everything they had and put their hearts into it.
