You decide election day is officially here in Arizona
and voters are already heading out to
the polls. As of this morning,
we're told that more than 50,000 voters have already checked in
at voting locations across Maricopa County.
So that is on top of more than 1 million early
ballots already returned with about 950,000 tabulated
as of yesterday. And as election
workers gear up for a busy day,
the county is giving voters a new way to plan ahead. So an
online tool allows voters to check wait times
at vote centers before heading out the door.
We spoke with Maricopa County elections
official Adrian Borunda about how it all works.
Voters can go on there and see wait times in real time.
So the great thing about our ballot on demand system
is that if you see a vote center with a long wait,
any one of the other vote centers around it will be able
to print off a ballot for you and you can cast your ballot there.
There are more than 254 voting centers in Maricopa County.
So here is what you need to know if you still need to vote today.
Polls will be open until 7 o'clock tonight.
You'll need to bring an acceptable form
of identification if you're voting in person.
And if you still have that early ballot sitting at home,
you can drop it off at an official drop box
or voting location in your county
as long as it is there.
That's a tongue twister by 7 p.m. tonight
and remember if you're in line when the polls close
you will still be allowed to vote.
You have just under seven hours to get it done.
