A midterm check on unified government puts congressional majorities in play.
Back now to your election headlines.
Millions of voters nationwide will
be casting their ballots today in
these high stakes midterms.

and the 35 Senate seats
that are up for grabs today.
Democrats hoping to win back control of Congress after two years
of total Republican leadership and control in the White House and,
of course, both chambers
of Congress. President Donald Trump has asked voters
to pretend like he is on the ballot today.
But with historically low approval numbers right now,
Democrats are hoping to ride the discontent to a blue wave.

Trump giving his closing message
from the reflecting pool, seemingly bracing for losses.
For some reason, the sitting president doesn't win the midterms,
but we gave this a very strong shot.
And the first polls close at 6 o'clock tonight.
Democrats need a net gain of three seats in the House
and four seats in the Senate to regain control of those chambers.
