It is election day and the race
for Pennsylvania governor has been heating up.
Sure has.
Hank's in Bucks County with more.
Good morning, Hank.
Hey, good morning guys. Yeah, here at Ben Salem High School,
guys, the parking lot has begun to fill up as it typically does
on a school day here in Lower Bucks County. No school today, however.
Teachers have got alternative things going on, bookkeeping as it were.
Today, of course, Election Day, guys, a day of reckoning
and consequences. Americans going to the polls today to vote.
Midterm elections for ages. That has been seen, guys,
as a referendum on what kind of job the party in power now.
Has been doing polls open right here in the Keystone State 7 o'clock.
Top of the ticket statewide, of course, is the governor's race.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, the Democrat incumbent,
made a number of campaign stops throughout
our area yesterday, as did his opponent,
Republican State Treasurer Stacey Garrity.
Governor made specific promises to workers and to women.
Garrity promised thousands of jobs and lower energy bills.
And act one of 2027 will be to raise
the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
We will make sure to codify in the constitution
of this commonwealth abortion rights for women.
They will be protected always.
We'll fund mass transit and we'll build more housing
and we'll grow our economy. We will unleash the energy that we have
under our feet, creating 200,000.
These are good paying, good paying jobs.
Generating $5 to $6 billion
of revenue every single year that we desperately need.
If you don't like your electric bills, there's good news coming there.
We're going to reduce them 20%.
There you go. The question is, Jason,
Alex, as voters, who do you believe?
It wouldn't be politics without promises, guys.
So who do you trust to follow through local congressional races?
Include Casey Tomlinson versus Brian Allen,
and a nasty one between incumbent
Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick
and Democrat Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvey,
which is polling very closely, almost too close to call, guys.
But the consequences are...
It's clear here. Both houses,
both chambers of Congress are in play today.
The Senate in Harrisburg in play today as an educated voter.
It's your job both to know the races, but also to know
that this particular midterm election has direct consequences
on your wallet and your pocketbook.
The choices you make as a voter today will improve
or reduce your life in years and months to come.
So think about that as you do go to the polls today.
Make sure that you vote.
Jason Allen.
Yeah, and if you don't know who to vote for,
there's about 10,000 signs behind you,
Hank.
I mean, it's just like, well, who do I vote for?
There you go.
Well, it's interesting the way the money gets spent, guys.
Yeah.
Nearly every single one of the signs behind me are Republican signs,
but the big one right in the middle, Brian Allen.
It just, it's how the money broke down to go ahead
and cover this particular school with posters,
as opposed to others.
You get a different story all across the county.
Yeah, and then I know it's early, but then at some polling locations,
like when I go vote, there's people who come up to you.
Oh, they hand you material.
I know.
Am I even supposed to talk to you?
Yeah, can you be here?
And I know, by the way, I know how much
But you love the political ads on TV.
You can't get enough.
Sadly, they'll go away after today, so.
You promise?
And the text messages and the e-mails.
Oh, the texts.
Oh.
And then they want you to reply.
Why haven't you replied back to me?
It has been a lot.
All right.
