The Lions have a SERIOUS Issue....Detroit Lions News
Nov 3, 2026
Well, the Lions got a big victory on Sunday over
the Minnesota Vikings to knock them
from the ranks of the unbeaten,
but it came at a serious consequence for the Lions.
And, uh...
It could have major implications going forward
for the rest of the season,
starting with the upcoming game against Miami.
We're going to dive into all of that, the ramifications, any updates,
and a whole lot more on this edition of Lions Digest.
Hey, everybody, yours truly, Captain Lou here.
Want to take a moment to welcome those of you that are checking us out
for the first time here to the program.

I invite you to hit that subscribe button.
It's free.

Be a part of all the conversation, all the live reaction,
that and a whole lot more on Lions Digest.
Well, yes, it was a big victory yesterday, the Lions.
Came through, persevered, whatever you want to call it.
Monster win in the division over division-leading Minnesota, 19-15,
and they knocked them from the ranks of the unbeaten.
But obviously, it's come at a tremendous cost
for the Lions on and off the field.
We all saw the injury with Jack Campbell carted off
the field in the third quarter yesterday.
Very numbing, very just devastating.
Any kind of adjective you can imagine for the Lions,
and it was gut-wrenching.
There's no other way to put it.
You saw Aiden Hutchinson in tears, in the huddle,
off the field, rallying the troops.
The Lions galvanized.
In the effort, and they took over in the fourth quarter, a big win.
But, you know, there's other things than football, obviously.
And, you know, this is kind of a somber Monday for the Lions.
Just want to let everybody know that we don't have any updates.
But when we do...
We'll keep you updated here on Lions Digest,
absolutely, for sure, no doubt about it.
And you could tell Head Coach Dan Campbell, you know,
rallied the troops as much as he could in the postgame.
I thought it was absolutely apropos
that they gave the game ball to the whole team.
Obviously, they dedicated it to Jack Campbell with that injury.
And hopefully, you know, the last we heard, he was resting comfortably.
Possibly, but...
I thought it was very classy,
and I also thought it was very classy of the Lions
not to show when they kneeled down for the prayer
before the end of that post-game quote-unquote celebration.
And again, what can you say about the Lions
and Dan Campbell in this regard?
And I also want to take a moment to give kudos to Kevin O'Connell
and to T.J. Hawkinson.
I mean, you could see how visibly upset Hawkinson was.
after the game and, you know, also with Kevin O'Connell
with the message he gave in the post-game show.
So, again, just such devastating news for the Lions.
No updates as of yet, but when we get them, of course,
we'll pass them along to you right here on Lions Digest.
Well, there were some other injuries
and some potentially devastating, serious issues for the Lions.
We'll get updates on those, obviously, throughout the week.
We'll start with DJ Woonham.
He went out on concussion protocol.
He's been having a wonderful year for the Lions.
And he and Brian Branch,
we all know how Branch plays with reckless abandon.
And I just, I shudder.
When I see how he, you know, launches at times,
leads with his helmet and his shoulder.
And, you know, obviously he's coming off the Achilles injury.
But DJ wound him out with a concussion.
Just, again, very not good news for the Lions.
This could be a serious problem for them.
Who knows if he's going to be available against Miami on Sunday.
Now, Skylar Gil Howard came in and played very well in his absence
and picked up the slack.
Losing Branch and D.J. Woonham to concussion protocol
could be devastating coming up again against Miami on Sunday.
They gave the New England Patriots all they wanted
in their game this past Sunday.
So big news there.
Cade Mays, he went out with an injury in the game
and was replaced by Juice Scruggs.
And Scruggs, we all know how well Scruggs has played.
Definitely has played monstrously for the Lions here in his absence.
And he stepped right in, almost didn't miss a beat.
The Lions were so devastating in that fourth quarter.
Uh, great kudos to Drew Petzing with his game plan
in the fourth quarter to take advantage of
those blitzes and get huge runs up the gut.
But we don't know with Cade Mays. Now, Dan Campbell,
he talked about it a little bit, the injuries after the game on Sunday.
And he said with Mays,
I don't think any of these necessarily are long-term,
but that doesn't mean they're not
going to be out for a week or two or perhaps even more. So obviously.
These are going to be updates throughout the week.
But these are serious issues.
And also banged up a little bit, DJ Reed and Jimmy Roller.
Roller was playing very well at linebacker.
He's got a hamstring issue.
I don't know if he re-aggravated it from the beginning of the year,
but we're going to keep an eye on that as well.
So, so many issues that could be huge.
This could be serious for the Lions heading into Sunday against Miami
and going forward here in the regular season.
Now, we mentioned Miami coming to town, or we're going to Miami
for the first of a quasi two-game road trip,
even though it's technically a home game
in Munich against the Patriots.
But the Lions are going to Miami.
For the game against the Dolphins.
And the over-under to trade on right now is 49 and a half.
And that's why I'm going to trade yes.
I think they're going to bounce back.
Both teams are going to get over 49 and a half points down in Miami.
And I'm going to trade with our partner.
That's Cal Sheep.
Now remember with Cal Sheep,
you're trading against your peers, other users,
not the traditional sports books.
You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcomes of
Events in sports, politics, even the weather.
Now, let's take a look at that again.
Right now, it's trading at 54,
which means 54% of the people think
it's gonna go over 49 and a half points.
So if you trade $25,
you'll get $44.47 back on that trade.
Why $25, do you ask?
Well, it's that simple.
If you want to try out CalSheet,
make sure you use the description below and use the
promo code DIGESTNFL, and when you do that,
you trade your first $25, you'll get $55 back
into your account instantly.
It's that simple.
Again, all the games are trading on CalSheet.
Let's take a look.
Let's give you some good news here today, shall we?
Let's take a look at the final stats
in that game yesterday against Minnesota.
We've all seen how beleaguered
and how maligned our defense has been, and justifiably so.
Let's take a look at the numbers.
The Lions held Minnesota under 300 yards of total offense.
Time of possession was huge for Detroit.
They held them to, again, they outgained them in first yards,
outgained them in rushing yards, and they held them in check.
Held them to 15 points.
The point total's getting better every game.
And, again, I'm mystified.
We've said it in the broadcast
in our Captain Lou cast, our watch-along,
that, you know, all the weapons that Minnesota has.
With Addison, with Justin Jefferson, with TJ Hawkinson,
with Aaron Jones, that running back.
And they can't do anything with those in Detroit.
Again, we're able to contain them.
Calvin Shepard, I give you your flowers.
You get what you deserve, and you deserve flowers this week.
Holding them to 15 points.
And how about Drew Petzing?
Realizing the weakness.
Game planning for it in the fourth quarter,
sticking what worked.
We screamed about it in our watch-along,
run it up the gap, and that's what they did,
and they exploited that weakness.
200 yards plus in rushing.
What can you say about Jameer Gibbs, right?
Again, if you traded yes on that 85-plus yards,
you're thanking me this morning on it as well.
So, had to bring that up.
Some good news for the Lions as they are now 5-2.
And 2-0 in the division.
Monster numbers heading into that game against Miami.
All right, that's going to do it for this edition of Lions Digest.
Again, obviously, in our thoughts and prayers right now,
linebacker Jack Campbell.
When we get updates, we will break in with another episode,
maybe later on today, if not obviously tomorrow.
So until then, our thoughts
and prayers are with Jack Campbell and his family.
And again, let's hope for the best for him as well.
All right, that's going to do it for this edition of Lions Digest.
Thanks to everybody who's taken time out to be with us.
Thank you for tuning in to the Captain Lou cast yesterday.
Monster numbers off the charts.
And it's all because of you, your passion for the Lions and the NFL.
From around the world, people were listening.
It was an absolute blast.
Okay, until next time, Captain Lou saying keep your heads up,
keep your sticks down, keep your feet moving,
and as always, keep your minds open.
So long.
