Trade Rumors INTENSIFYING...MAJOR Upside | Detroit Lions News
Nov 1, 2026
As the Lions get set to take on the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.
And the trade deadline right around the corner.
The rumors are picking up again.
They're intensifying, escalating, whatever.
On this time, the offensive side of the ball,
for which help that would bring major upside
for the Lions going forward.
We're going to dive into what it all might mean,
the ramifications of it,
and a whole lot more on this edition of Lions Digest.
Hey, everybody.
Yours truly, Captain Lou here.

Be a part of all the conversation, the reaction,
and a whole lot more right here on Lions Digest.
The trade rumors with the deadline right around
the corner have exclusively been on the defensive side
of the ball until now for the Lions.
All of a sudden, they're intensifying, picking up steam on the offense,
and it's centering around help for our dude,
our bell cow, Jameer Gibbs.
His workload has been intense through the first six games,
and one wonders if it's going to come at a price.
His numbers are fantastic.
Almost 900 yards of total offense
from scrimmage through the first six games.
But again, is it coming at a price?
He's got a little bit of a shoulder issue.
And how many of you were like me
and cringed at that slide he took towards the end of the
game, preserving the win for the Packers
or for the Lions against the Packers on Sunday?
Well, three names all of a sudden have perked up
as trade possibilities for the Lions ahead
of the deadline.
Let's start out with Tony Pollard running back right now
for the Tennessee Titans.
They're in sell mode down in Tennessee,
and he would be, I think, a perfect complement
for Jameer Gibbs in the Lions' backfield.
Let's take a look at his numbers.
407.
474 yards, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.
And his streak, a very interesting one,
where he's gotten on a streak now of six straight games
with 50-plus scrimmage yards.
That may not look like much on the surface,
but with the team he's playing for, Tennessee, being abysmal,
that's not bad at all.
And again, another enticing thing about it
with Tony Pollard's contract,
he's an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.
This could almost be viewed as a rental.
You could get him for probably
a fifth round draft pick, a day three pick,
which to me is a bargain.
I would definitely kick the tires on Tony Pollard
because he's got tread on the tires and he's been playing this year.
Now, the other name that's been bandied about, Kareem Hunt.
The Lions have contacted him.
They've been in conversation with him throughout the year.
Let's take a look at his numbers right now.
611 yards last year, 3.7 yards a carry.
Filled in great towards the end of the year
when Pacheco went down with his injury.
But the key right here with Kareem Hunt.
He hasn't played, he hasn't practiced,
he hasn't done anything really besides maybe
individual keeping himself working out, keeping himself busy.
How long would it take him to get in game shape?
That's why I kind of shy away from Kareem Hunt.
I know he's got a history and I know he's a decent back,
but he hasn't played.
So that's why I would shy away from him.
Here's another name, though, that's kind of starting to sneak up.
And he's a wild card, what they would call,
they've been calling an honorable mention possibility for anybody,
including the Lions, to pick up at the trade deadline.
And that's Alvin Kamara.
One of the things I like about Kamara, too,
he signed a one-year deal with the Saints.
He's in a crowded backfield right now.
The Saints are kind of stumbling.
And I know they've got younger legs in the backfield
in New Orleans that they're trying to kind of groom to take over.
So Alvin Kamara's contract status.
After this year, he's an unrestricted free agent.
Now, he's more of a runner like Jahmyr Gibbs,
but he's another weapon out of the backfield.
He's a great dual threat for the Lions.
So those are three names that I would keep an eye on.
Let's take a look at his numbers, his receiving numbers.
Not too bad.
And also his numbers, again, throughout the regular season.
Another thing to keep in mind, 133 yards receiving, 125 yards rushing.
You know, that's more of an even split in the backfield
that he's been participating in with New Orleans.
So with the trade rumors picking up,
those are the three names to keep an eye on.
So I'm going to ask you, of the three,
which one of these running backs would you choose
to help complement Jameer Gibbs in the backfield for the Lions?
Would you go with Kareem Hunt, not costing you anything?
As far as a trade, because he's a free agent.
How about Tony Pollard?
Probably a third draft day pick, like a fifth or sixth round pick.
Alvin Kamara could be a third or fourth round draft pick.
I think those are cheap options if you ask me.
But again, would Brad Holmes pull the trigger?
What would you do if you're Brad Holmes?
Would you take a flyer on any of these three?
I would go with Tony Pollard.
That would be my choice right there for the Lions.
Well, speaking of Jahmyr Gibbs and his workload
and what he's done in the regular season,
they're going up against the Vikings
that are the 12th rated defense against the run.
But I still think he's going to have a decent day.
That's why I'm going to roll with our brand new partner
here on Lions Digest, and that's Kalshi.
And I'm going to trade yes that he's going to get
at least 85 yards.
against Minnesota.
Now, again, with Kalshi, remember,
you're trading against other users,
not the traditional sports books.
You're buying yes or no contracts
on the outcomes of events across sports,
politics, even the weather.
Now, let's take a look how that's trading.
Right now, 48% of the people are trading yes
that Jameer Gibbs will get over 85 yards
against the Vikings.
And if you do that,
And you trade $25 that he's going to do that.
You'll get $47 plus on your return.
Why $25 do you ask?
Well, it's that simple.
If you're interested in trying out Kalshi,
use the description in the link below
and make sure you use the promo code DIGESTNFL.
And when you trade your first $25 using that promo code,
you'll get $55 back into your account instantly.
All the games right now.
In the NFL trade on Kalshi.
All right, let's take a look at the standings
in the NFL right now real quick.
Going into the game on Sunday, the Lions trail the Vikings.
The Vikings undefeated.
6-0 on the year.
The crazy thing is, they've only scored 125 points,
but they've only given up 74.
Chicago, they're 5-2.
Detroit, of course, 4-2 right now in the regular season.
Coming off two straight wins.
Now coming up, their second straight conference game.
And Green Bay won on Thursday night against Carolina, 27-19.
So they're now 5-3 in last place.
Unbelievable that all of the teams.
In the NFC North are all over 500.
All right, let's take a look at a couple of your comments.
You know, about trading at the deadline.
Now, yes, all the talk has been about trading
on the defensive side of the ball.
And here, one of our readers posted trade
for Christian Fultner or Zion McCollum.
I don't know if Tampa's ready to give up yet on him.
Same with Cam Lassiter from the Houston Texans.
I think those would be great additions
for the Lions on the defensive side of the ball.
And now, again, here's a comment on Cade Mays.
You know, his timing was a little bit off.
He had a couple of penalties and, you know,
also helped Jameer Gibbs on that fumble,
caused that fumble against the Packers.
I contribute that more maybe to a little bit of rust,
but who knows?
So again, I want to ask you our question for the day.
Should the Lions choose a quarterback
in the backfield to help Jameer Gibbs?
If they do, should they choose Kareem Hunt,
Tony Pollard, or Alvin Kamara?
Would love to hear your comments down below.
