The Lions have a GOLDEN Opportunity.....
1 Video View·Sep 10, 2026
Well with what GM Brad Holmes has coined as a light wide receiver room
heading into that season opener against the Saints coming up on the 13th a
Huge potential signing could be in the works for the Lions to help alleviate some of those concerns and it's got
Tremendous upside as well
We're gonna dive into that potential signing and what it could mean for the Lions on this edition of Lions digest

Preview show coming up this Thursday

We're gonna take a look at the schedule for the Lions this year make our predictions and we're gonna interact with you
We'd love to see what your takes are gonna be live interaction
What you think the record is going to be for the Lions this year that and a whole lot more
It's this Thursday 7 o'clock Eastern Time our first live broadcast of Lions digest our season preview show
We hope you can check it out. All right, Brad Holmes
He said throughout the preseason the Lions with four wide receivers makes the room a little bit light now
He says he likes the flavor of the room, even though it's light
Well, there's a potential signing out there in the works that the Lions may be in on that could have huge potential
Indeed and a huge upside for the Lions heading into that opening day
I was first reported by mirror u.s. Sports yesterday that Darius Slayton
Was released by the New York Giants
4435 career yards 22 touchdowns for the Giants and the big upside with him, too
Yeah, I know he's a seven-year veteran. Maybe not as young as
Isaac Tesla
But he can play both the slot and the wideout and he's got the hands and the experience to back it up
So a great potential signing could be in the works for the Lions again to create
More veterans in that locker room and more experience as they head into that opening day
Against the Saints now, we know who's leading the way for the Lions, right? That's Amon Ross st. Brown. There's no question
He's the leader in that wide receiver room and with this new offense going into 2026
I'm very confident that he could be one of the leaders again in the NFL so much so that I am going to trade
Yes, that he will be the leader this year in touchdown
Receptions and I'm going to roll with our brand new partner here on Lions Digest and that's Kelshi when I say that he's going to
Be the wide receiver the touchdown leader for wide receivers in the regular season now with Kelshi
Remember you're trading directly against other users
Not the traditional sports books you buy yes or no contracts on outcomes of sporting events
Politics even the weather now if you take a look at Amon Ross St.
Brown as we mentioned as the potential leader in touchdowns for wide receivers
He's trading at just under 10%
What does that mean?
That means a huge return
if you want to take a plier and buy a yes contract for him to do it if you were to buy a
Contract for $25 a yes contract that says he's going to win that title as touchdown King
Your return is going to be
$235 and change that's a monster return on that yes contract so
$25 why do I say that well if you're interested in trying out Kelshi?
Use the link in the description and use the promo code
Digest NFL and when you trade your first $25 you will get $25 added to your account instantly
Football season starts on Wednesday and all the games are trading on
Kelshi now there was also breaking news as we get back into the Lions wide receiver room that on Tuesday morning before their first
practice of the regular season
head coach Dan Campbell
Suggested and said that Tom Kennedy could be on the roster heading into that opening day game
Against the Saints, so that's something that we were expecting at some point in the regular season
but I think the big reason for that is he's still going to be used primarily as a punt returner and
Perhaps a kickoff returner
so again
still a lot of room for a guy like Darius Slayton to be on the roster for the Lions and
They don't have to worry about paying him his full salary of 16 million dollars because he was released from it
They can sign him for whatever they'd like. So again when I ask you this
Let's look at the wide receiver room as well for the Lions now, obviously we mentioned
Amon Ross St. Brown Isaac Tesla
Jameson Williams and Tay Martin now again
Do you think that he could slot in there that being Darius Slayton and his 22 career touchdowns?
Would you take him ahead of Tay Martin? Are you willing to roll with what we've got and again?
Let's look at the practice squad roster at the moment right now
We've got Tom Kennedy Lucky Johnson and Dominic Lovett on the practice squad
And as we mentioned it sounds like according to Dan Campbell the cat may already be out of the bag
Tom Kennedy could be on the roster heading into that opening day game against the Saints
But if they were to sign Slayton that might change his mind and he might get bumped back down to the practice squad
So I guess my question to you off the top would you sign Darius Slayton to the Detroit Lions wide receiver room
It's that simple. Yes or no, or do you think the wide receiver room needs somebody more than him?
I'm not sure if anybody else really is available for the Lions to go after and I just think
But what they could sign him for I think he'd be a great addition to that Lions locker room. He brings experience
He's got the pedigree that comes with them
I know he's not a number one wide receiver, but the Lions don't need a number one wide receiver
What they need is a solid number three because I'm not you know, I don't know how much I trust Tesla
He made a couple of big-game catches last year, but he didn't have so great of a preseason
So that really worries me when it comes to the Lions
All right, real quick a couple of signings here by the Lions also yesterday the Lions signed Joe Bocci
to the 53-man roster
He's going to help in the depth for the linebacker core for the Lions and he's also he's a huge special teams player
So I see him making a lot of contributions on special teams
so the Lions still have one opening on that 53-man roster and it could be or a guy like
Darius Slayton unless they use that last option or Tom Kennedy now the Lions also signed yesterday
Seth McLaughlin and Jabari small to the practice squad juice grub right now
We know he's really the only center that the Lions have on the roster
So McLaughlin not surprised that he was signed back to the practice squad
And of course Jabari small the rookie out of Tennessee
The Lions only have three healthy running backs on the roster right now. They've got of course Jameer Gibbs
They've got Sean Bocci and Jacob Saylor, so not surprised that small got signed, but that just leaves one question
Is it possible that perhaps that they might still be thinking about signing Kareem hunt to a contract?
Those are questions that we'll have to dive into on another time
So again, I'm gonna ask you when it comes again to the wide receiver room
Do you think the Lions should go after Darius Slayton to help fortify that Lions wide receiver? Yes or no
Let's roll with what we've got or they need to try somebody a little better than him
We'd love to see your comments in the comment section here on Lions Digest
