Bears and Seahawks.
You know, I got to hand it to John Schneider,
the general manager of the Seahawks.
I mean, he goes out and gets Nelson.
There's even a conversation, Jacob,
that you could see maybe Jonathan Taylor of the Colts
landing in Seattle.
Before we get to the game tonight, I know that the Bears made a move.
They got Jeffrey Simmons.
That was a gigantic move.
Could you see both of these teams still
making some more moves before November 10th?
That's the trading deadline.
Yeah. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
I think you mentioned Jonathan Taylor. He'd be a good fit
for the Seahawks because that Quentin Nelson trade gives them
an excellent run blocking
offensive line now. And yeah,
they have some guys come back from injury. Jadarian Price,
the first round rookie and Zach Charbonnet both should
be back this week, but they still don't
have like a true three down workforce there that's proven.
So I can see them saying,
we got to get someone to help JSN carry this offense
and Jonathan Taylor would be a great
Great fit, and they already made a deal with the Colts.
Who knows? Maybe they already discussed that.
So I would like that.
And then I think the Bears, you know, there's a lot of different areas
that they could address, but I think that they could still look at
adding more to that defensive line and the edge rush
because Simmons on the interior is a massive upgrade.
But, you know, guys like Josh Sweat on the edge from Arizona,
he'd be a guy I'd be interested in.
Or Khalil Mack, a reunion with him could be massive for the Bears
because Khalil is still playing a lot
of snaps for that Chargers defense.
And I would assume he gets dealt to a contender
Why would they keep him around on a one-year deal?
He's 35.
Absolutely.
Do you think John Schneider, the general manager of the Seahawks,
miscalculated on the Kenneth Walker negotiations?
I mean, they just let him walk out of the building.
They didn't really even offer him.
any kind of contract,
and that was one of the formula pieces of a year ago.
Played great defense, controlled the clock with running the football.
They just made a move, as you said, for Nelson, for the guard,
and then they really haven't been able to get that running game going.
Now they're starting to see a little bit
of a resemblance of what they did a year ago.
They want to upgrade, obviously, but do you think they miscalculated
on letting Walker walk out of the building the Super Bowl MVP?
I think they probably did.
Listen, I understand why teams don't necessarily want to pay big money
to running backs given the short shelf life
and the injury history they have. But I think for the
Seahawks, if you looked at their offensive
identity last year during the playoff run
and how important Kenneth Walker was to that,
I think you could easily have seen there being
a decline coming, especially with Zach Charbonnet,
you know, recovering from the torn ACL. So
I understand liking Jadarian Price as a prospect.
I think he'll eventually be a good running back,
but when you have a Super Bowl window open
and the Seahawks are certainly threats to repeat,
they're not a team that went to the Super Bowl and we were all saying,
oh, there was a flash in the pan.
We all know that that defense is going to be around to stay.
So I probably would have said maybe they should have ponied up
a little bit more for Kenneth
Walker. Hindsight's obviously 2020
and if Darien Price hadn't gotten hurt and hadn't
Hadn't had bubble issues.
Maybe we're talking about this differently, but.
I think certainly at the midpoint of this season,
John Schneider is probably saying,
yeah, I kind of regret that decision a little bit,
even if they do eventually figure things out
with the running game.
Seattle's really a tough place to play, Jacob, as you know.
I mean, I played up there a couple of times
and that is just nuts.
Now, not in the new building,
but at the old Kingdome here.
What do you think tonight?
I mean...
You look at this right now, I mean,
this is going to be really a back-and-forth football game.
We might see this as a precursor, again,
to a conference championship here.
What do you think tonight?
Yeah, you read my mind.
I'm looking at these two teams and saying,
man, these might be two of the hardest teams
to beat in the NFC.
I am probably siding with the Seahawks for the very reason you stated.
It is just so hard to go into that stadium
and win with the 12th man there.
And I also think the Seahawks are going to have
a little bit more of an offensive identity
with Quenton Nelson getting in there.
I think their running game is going
to be significantly upgraded with Charbonnet and
Priceback.
They're going to have a three-headed monster
when you add Emmanuel Wilson there.
I'm looking for them to try to kind of control the clock there,
take a little pressure off of JSN
and try to keep the Bears offense off the field.
But I do think the Bears will play well.
Caleb Williams is just making throws that few quarterbacks can make.
He's fitting the ball into tight windows.
He's just so dynamic.
He's so fun to watch.
I'm excited to see him.
I'm excited to see how Jeffrey Simmons impacts
that Bears defensive line.
But at the end of the day, I think the Seahawks will win a tight one.
I just, anytime I can back them at home, I'm going to be doing it.
Do you think a guy like Caleb Williams can play himself back
into the MVP conversation
with a game like this tonight?
I know he's missed significant time.
There's still a lot of football to be played here.
Do you think he can play himself into a conversation where,
you know, we're talking about potentially
an MVP candidate here?
Yeah, I think you can certainly make the case for him.
I think if he didn't miss those three games,
I think we'd be looking at it more and saying,
man, this guy is playing at such a high level right now.
Now, of course, the problem with the MVP conversation is
you can argue about who the most
valuable player is regardless of stats,
but at the end of the day,
the accumulation of stats does matter a fair amount.
But, you know, looking at these odds,
I think he can certainly work his way
probably into the top five if he continues to play well
and have the Bears winning big games like
this, especially in primetime.
