Florida Gators EMBARRASSED by Georgia! Is It Time for a QB CHANGE?! + What's NEXT?
Nov 1, 2026
Good morning. Welcome back to High Top Sports. Today is Sober Sunday.
If you're new here for Sober Sunday, how this works is after we win
or lose, we come back and we have our sober thoughts of the game.
We come down from whether it's a high
or whether it's a very low low like it was yesterday
and hope to have a reasonable conversation about the game prior.
Does that always happen? Absolutely not.
But today we're going to do the best that we can.
To have a nice healthy dialogue as we get ready
to roll into the next week against Oklahoma.
Sit back, relax, enjoy your Sunday.
Grab yourself a nice little cup of coffee.
Let's have ourselves a show.
Good to see you.
Welcome back.
Be sure to smash the like button
and subscribe if you guys are new here.
So, as we know, Florida took
an embarrassing loss to Georgia last night.
27-8, I think the final score ended up being.
They got a last minute field goal there
at the end after Florida went down and scored.
a set touchdown and went for two.
Gave us a little bit of hopium there for the last
seven minutes of the game. I mean, look, we kind of knew the writing
was on the wall, but neither here nor there.
We wanted to believe for a little bit.
A lot to unpack, though, right?
Going into this game, I felt confidence.
I felt like this team had made strides over the last couple of weeks,
ending the South Carolina, rolling into Texas.
And then you assume some things would obviously continue
to build off of the bye week.
Now, the one big thing that changed, which everybody yelled out about,
was the quarterback, right?
Tremell Jones was part of the resurgence of the offense against Texas.
And everybody was like, why are you not going with this guy?
You're going to take the energy out of the room.
And that's kind of how it felt.
Now, the score was 10-0 when Tremell got in,
and the thing still got a little bit out of hand.
But you definitely put yourself maybe into a little bit of a hole
because we had that big stop.
We were able to, they missed the field goal, Tremell or
Philo comes out there and then throws just an unorthodox interception.
I'm not quite sure where that came from.
And then on top of that, the boys get another stop.
The defense shows up once again,
then has just an egregious penalty with the block punt
or the roughing the kicker, I should say.
And.
All of a sudden now you see just this,
the slippery slope starting to get very slippery,
which caused the issue that started just
to build on top of one another.
So that to me, I think was the biggest surprise
of yesterday was the continuation of lack
of discipline.
I, I cannot wrap my head around why that continues to happen.
One of the most penalized team in college football,
or one of, if not the most penalized
team in college football, we're averaging eight penalties a game.
We're averaging that.
We had seven in the first five minutes.
I mean, honestly, we had probably three penalties on one play.
They only applied one of them.
So it was probably more than what we actually were on paper for
because some of them got picked up because we had so many
happening on one play at one time.
That part I can't seem to grasp.
I hope that might be a big question on Monday because, look,
And I'm a big supporter of John.
I'm not nowhere near of like, John's got to go.
I've seen a few people have made that, you know, kind of that stance.
That's not where I'm at.
I've kind of made that clear.
I'm not one to really, you know, rip the bandaid off.
I mean, look, let's go back a couple of weeks.
People are ready to fire Brad White after four weeks.
I think after the last two weeks,
the attention has shifted from Brad now over to Buster,
which three weeks ago, we were all concerned he was going to be gone.
Three weeks ago, the craziness of college football.
Three weeks ago, we were in fear that Philo
and Buster would be gone in the portal
and we wouldn't have an offense.
Now we're praying to the lords above that they all leave.
And we were firing Brad White three weeks ago.
That just shows you the range of this college football team.
It shows you how it is so hard to know.
And we asked, that was a big question
we asked all week here on this channel.
What Florida team is going to show up?
And for me, I felt confident.
Where my stance was is that, hey, we've showed things to build upon.
We've showed things that we were going to continue to grow.
The one thing that I overlooked, yes,
we were growing, but we were still getting penalties.
We were still doing dumb mistakes.
Those things weren't getting cleaned up.
Let's be honest.
And even against the,
when we started behind in Texas, those were errors.
Those were mistakes that we were inflicting on ourselves.
And, you know, some people may ask,
you look at this defense, I know they gave up 24 points.
On paper, it doesn't look great.
17 of those points were off turnovers.
We gave them short fields.
We didn't do ourselves any favors,
not to mention they were on the football field.
They, the Georgia offense, was on the football field
for the first damn near 12 minutes of the first quarter.
So our defense was playing from well behind,
gassed, with no hope in sight.
And the offense wasn't doing anything to complement.
This defense.
So, yes, 24 points is not great,
but I would argue that this defense did a pretty bang-up job.
They did a good job slash great job.
They had some moments where I was very proud of them.
But somebody asked, well, like, was Georgia just very vanilla?
Because I don't know.
I had talked to my Georgia buddy after the game.
I was like, you guys just showed up,
and literally I think the game plan all week from Kirby was like,
these boys average eight penalties a game.
We're just going to go out there
and play the most vanilla football that you possibly can
and be the most disciplined group that there is.
Because our advantage is that we're the University of Georgia.
I'm Kirby Smart.
We know that they're going to want
to do everything in their power to beat us.
They're going to overthink this.
They're going to try to go over and beyond and try to do what they can
because they think that we're fired up after a loss against Auburn.
And we're just going to be as cool as you could possibly imagine.
That's all that it was.
The whole time I'm running around,
my hair's on fire as a fan,
and I'm watching Georgia players,
and it wasn't like they were out here
just running the ball all over us.
Gunner Stockton wasn't slinging it
over our top.
Deshaun was the tight end.
Everything we thought would happen
didn't happen.
Georgia did nothing of what I thought would happen.
And even defensively, they're obviously great.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Georgia.
That's not the case at all.
I think what they do great is also a well-disciplined football team.
They're still a good team.
Defensively, they got to us a whole bunch.
Let's not get it twisted.
But man, it wasn't like it was just like they
were flying all over the place
and just making incredible catches and destroying us here and there.
No.
They just played sound, fundamental football.
And they made it look so easy.
Well, I mean, they did.
They made it look like it was almost like impossible to do
because of how just distraught that we looked.
That, to me, that is, I've talked a lot this year
about not being able to wrap my head around some things.
That is the one that I continue to, I can't seem to figure out.
Now.
Well, obviously a lot of holding calls on offense,
dumb mistakes here and there where we're getting a lot of holding calls
because, you know, we're just,
they're that much superior than us that we can't, you know,
withstand the pressure that they're providing.
And here's the thing.
I know where some Florida fans are going to be like,
there was bad calls, missed calls.
I hear you. There was. I saw it too.
We historically, week over week, have been a poorly penalized team,
meaning it's on us.
So it's hard for me to sit here and point the finger
when we historically have been ass with these penalties.
So that's 100% on us.
That, to me, falls on John.
And look, some people may point
to this as the remnants of the Napier era,
which it's partly that too.
We talked last night.
And it's kind of where I'm at, right?
This is year one.
You still have that caveat of you have to have the understanding.
I believe some may not believe
that because you'll point to two or three schools,
which I have too.
You're looking at Kentucky and you're like,
man, they look pretty damn good.
You could argue that there's some of their wins
and some of their games thus far
haven't been to the caliber of what other teams
in the SEC have gone up against.
I mean, Auburn's schedule and Golis'
first year has been an absolute gauntlet.
Kentucky's got a stretch here
that they're going to have to really be tested.
You could even make the point that, look, Kentucky,
we talk about Florida being talented, right?
In Florida, where we've been for the last couple of years,
and I think that, you know, on paper, we argue that on this show.
Like, hey, when John came in and retained this talent,
we're in a good place.
On paper, this team's very talented.
This team also lost to Kentucky.
This team's also been bullied by Kentucky.
Was Kentucky in a better situation?
I don't know.
You hate to say that out loud and believe that,
but let's be honest.
1v1, we played them for the last couple of years.
They've had our number.
Right?
So, sure, maybe on paper they didn't have all these five stars
and four stars and whatnot, but the culture for sure as hell
wasn't maybe as soft as maybe what he's inherited over at Florida.
I don't know.
I can't put my finger on it because I refuse to sit here and say
that John was not the right hire.
I'm not ready to admit that anywhere close to that just yet.
You know, what is ironic, I remember vividly,
we had Graham Hall on the show.
We started this coaching search, and a name that he brought up,
we actually both mentioned, was Will Stein, being a coordinator.
And Florida fans didn't want to hear it for that.
That's it.
I want a little side,
but it just goes to show you just,
we really don't know what we want.
We just want to win.
Right.
That's kind of what,
what,
what,
what it boils down to.
So look,
I don't know,
you know,
so a lot of football left.
I think that's the kind of the key thing here.
When we did our preseason rankings,
we talked about it and this is kind of a.
Look, when I say this, I understand how it sounds.
You're trying to cope with what's happening here.
But if you told us, like, hey,
you're going to be three losses at this point,
which when I did my preseason rankings, this is where I had Florida.
I had Florida dropping a game to Mizzou.
I had Florida dropping a game to Texas.
And I had Florida dropping a game to Georgia for whatever reasons.
Obviously, they swapped one of those games
with South Carolina and Texas.
Going into this game, I felt that, hey,
going up against Kirby, John's first year, didn't
feel, you know, the best about it playing a rookie coach,
but this was one of the teams
for the rookie coaches that I did feel better about.
I did say that because of the coordinators.
We're going to get into Buster here in just a little bit, but.
You had to win out the rest of the year.
You had Oklahoma at home.
That game at once looked very intimidating.
Does not look nearly as intimidating anymore.
Kentucky looks much more intimidating than it once did.
And Vanderbilt, FSU look about exactly
what I thought they would look like.
So that is your remaining schedule.
And look, Cody mentioned last night, and I get where fans say like,
hey, let's not mention playoffs.
I think you always have to find like goals and things to look for.
If this team were to finish 9-3,
is there a conversation that it could be a playoff team?
Yes, on paper, yeah, there is a true conversation.
If you ask me, hey, Shelton, is this a playoff caliber football team?
No, it doesn't look anywhere like it.
And I think there's just so many errors
and so many issues that this football team has
to either, one, figure out,
or they're going to just kind of work itself through to the
end of the season.
The offensive line is the big kahuna here.
Let's talk about quarterback play.
Obviously, the big elephant in the room.
I said it after Texas.
I felt that Trammell came in.
I said it the Sunday, the sober Sunday after.
I felt that Trammell walked into his trap
and took over that trap, right?
Now, I understand, like, you don't want
to be the guy that has the quarterback
lose or a player lose his job because of an injury.
But, man, when a guy comes in and you just feel a spark,
that's kind of where I was at.
I also kind of took the stance of when they named Philo starter,
I'm going to trust in the staff
that they're making the right decision.
They're seeing something
that maybe we're not seeing.
Well, as usual,
the fans usually have
a pretty good pulse on things, right?
We all saw it,
and you felt it, right?
It just, again,
Trammell has his mistakes,
and I think people are still going to,
you know, lean on that.
But I want to read some stats off for you, too,
because on paper,
like, if we want to talk about this thing
in its totality,
Trammell's rating from Texas to Georgia.
Texas, 118 rating with an 86.8 QBR.
UGA, a 121 rating with a 62.9 QBR.
And then Philo had a 45.5 rating against Georgia.
Didn't play very long, but again, not a great rating
by the time that he was in there, with a 0.7 QBR.
In South Carolina, he had a 147.7 rating with a 34.3 QBR.
And at Mizzou, he had a 65.2 QBR.
Look, I've been in support of Philo,
and I think that he still has opportunities
to maybe do some great things,
but it's just not working
in the current system that we have, right?
And I don't know if it's a Buster situation.
The Buster offense is starting
to look a little bit vanilla.
And here's my thing, right?
The reason I always lean towards Philo, right?
And this is hand up because I felt,
hey, you've been with Buster.
You've been growing in this system.
You've had playing time.
That was always my reasoning
for going, being more on team Philo, right?
I say Team Philo lightly there, but that was my thought of like,
hey, where is Trammell in this process?
When we talk about like, hey,
how much of command Trammell has more than Philo,
I'm not seeing the gap that I may have thought was there.
Congratulations, boys and girls, because

You can now get in on the action on PrizePicks with college football.
It is time to get up after it.
This week, we're rocking and rolling, feeling pretty good.
But our guy, Micah Alahado from Hawaii.
Then we've got, of course, King Miller
with USC getting some rush touchdowns.
I know we don't like FSU around these parks,
but I think Ashton Daniels is going to use
a little legs in this upcoming week
for some nice football to get him more in his rushing yard.
You can now get in on the action
with PrizePicks for the rushing season.
And individual games.
And on the app, you can pick your team to just win the game outright

PrizePicks.
It is good to be around.
And when I talk about bullets flying,
that was going to be my other question.
I feel like Trammell plays with these bright lights.
I understand any mistakes.
I'm not putting the fumble on him.
Evan Pryor got shoved out of the way like a toddler
and Trammell got absolutely walloped.
Like, I don't know what you want from him
for him to do there.
The interception he threw in the end zone,
not the greatest play call,
but also on him, poor decision.
Those things are going to happen.
Like, both guys are going to make their mistakes.
Both guys are going to have to overcome some adversity.
I expect that from both of them.
Keep in mind, though,
Philo has had way more time in this system
to be light years ahead, right?
That's the thing is, like,
if this thing is as close as it is,
at this point, you go with the younger guy.
You go with the guy that has showed you more potential.
At the time, at the beginning of the season,
I felt that...
Goodness gracious.
I felt that Philo would eventually pull himself away
and find his footing in this offense.
I'm not seeing that anymore.
I'm not feeling it.
It's not there.
You got to give Trammell a full rep,
a full opportunity to take this team.
Don't mismanage this quarterback situation.
We've praised John on how he's been able to handle it.
Now, we've got things that are starting to flare up
with Trammell Jones on injury
and he possibly could need surgery at the end of the year.
Again, that was part of what I said.
We don't know the full story of it.
This whole injury thing is kind of weird to me.
We're getting transparency, but at the same time,
we're not on the level of where things are.
Like, Duke Clark, what the hell is going on with Duke?
He just shows up on the injury report late.
We don't know what's going on.
I don't know what happened to Jade Robinson.
We've got, for now, Brown, it's being reported that
it's up to him whether he wants to go or not, right?
Now, I'm not getting into conspiracy theories.
I'm just trying to explain the timeline here.
It gets reported to us that
You know, it's up to him.
It's a pain tolerance.
And so that's how we're viewing the situation, right?
And then he's probably very optimistic all week long.
And then Friday comes and it's like, he's not good to go.
And we're like, what's happening here?
Then a report comes out from Zach Abernathy that it's a PCL,
that he had to get drainage because it was swollen.
Like, oh, that's fine.
I'm not, again, this isn't me questioning anything.
I'm just, the management of the communication
has been very strange.
And same thing with Trammell.
Like, he kind of said in his presser,
hey, we don't want to give the other team an advantage.
I don't know exactly what that means.
But Trammell, I mean, he's winced a little bit.
He's playing through it, as far as I'm concerned.
I don't know.
There's a lot of question marks here
with how that whole injury bug, if you will,
is being managed.
I don't know if it's because we had such a,
it was such a weird thing last year
that John's trying to overcome it
from this, you know, the PTSD we as fan bases,
the fan base had.
I really don't know how it's being unpacked.
But for me...
At this point, and I think some people may still be indifferent of it,
I don't know how you could be after watching the game.
Like the,
the.
Again, with Trammell's mistakes, the offense felt different
and had more of an uptick, and that's two weeks in a row.
My concern would be, right, when he came in the second time,
would things be exposed?
Would it completely fall flat?
Because now you've got a freshman guy that's been showed.
That was my question.
He continued to do what he did.
Again, he made mistakes.
I'm expecting those mistakes.
I even gave Philo a pass, if you will,
of like, hey, you're going to make mistakes.
I'm okay with that.
Like, for anybody that thinks these quarterbacks
are going to come out here and be perfect,
they're out of their mind.
They're both very young quarterbacks.
They're going to do dumb stuff.
How I would expect us to overcome those things
is by managing the game well, right?
And also putting them in situations to succeed more times than not
with the understanding that, hey, mistakes are going to happen.
We talked about all offseason, like, hey, the gauntlet mentality.
Like, you got to go in and be expected to do up-downs.
So if your quarterback makes a mistake, how do you bounce back?
I'm okay with mistakes when you're trying to hit a good throw.
I'm okay with mistakes when you're trying to make a play
and you realize, hey, I saw what I did there.
It was a mystery. That's all me.
And that's my opinion. That's what happened.
I mean, the interception that Philo had was,
Inexcusable.
The other one went through Eric Singleton's hand and who's been,
I don't know, can't even explain what he has been.
Has not been anything what we all, I think,
anticipated him to be heading into the season.
So the quarterback situation, I think, is settled.
And a lot of people called into the call-in show yesterday,
talked about this as well.
Like, with...
You know, us discussing, we got distracted by quarterback.
That isn't necessarily the entire issue.
And John said this.
Look, if we continue to block the way that we're blocking,
it really doesn't matter.
And we have no ability to run it in between.
I don't know if we don't have the ability to run between the tackles
or if Buster just refuses to run it in between the tackles.
And exposure is starting to happen to Buster of, you know,
we're three weeks running now where it hasn't been great.
I would argue that Trammell against Texas,
allowed for it to get back to what makes Buster offense successful.
We all thought that, hey, Hanks King was a one-off.
He's had success elsewhere, him being Buster Faulkner,
having this high-flying offense.
What's starting to appear to be that's not the case at all.
He needs a quarterback or a running back
or somebody that can run between the tackles
to allow this window dressing
to be as successful as it is
because it was good for the first four weeks
but then it's like, hey, all this movement
and ----, it's all just hoopla. It means
absolutely nothing because they actually can't even go to
these guys. It doesn't mean anything.
Just shut these things down because their offensive line
is not good enough to go in between the tackles.
So as long as we stop the
runs to the outside, they're not
going to be able to go anywhere.
Since that has happened, the whole thing is busted wide open.
And a part of why I think this offense even struggled this go-around
because what Trammell did really good
against Texas was the quarterback keep.
He was more hesitant this go-around.
I don't know if it was due to injury.
I don't know if it was due to lack of block.
I don't know what it was, but wasn't as prominent to keep it and run.
The two times that he did,
he had major success, took it for a touchdown,
and it ran for like 18 yards, I think it was.
But, again, we don't know what is lingering with him, right?
And so, obviously, he could be second-guessing a little bit.
A lot of hate for Ball.
For me, you know, I think he's playing a bit injured.
It's just he doesn't look himself.
He's not getting the press off
his legs like he was earlier in the season.
And not to mention, it feels like he's just having to be a hero
every time he touches the football, right?
It's like he gets it and he has to go and be Superman.
And figure something out.
They're just not a nice one-cutter, make one guy miss.
No, it's making 11 dudes miss, which isn't easy for anybody.
So the offense is a shell of itself.
Buster seems to be lost in the sauce.
And again, we can blame it on a multitude of things.
Again, the offensive line is, we've tried to patch that together
and elevate it as much as it possibly can,
but it's starting to get exposed day after day.
And here is the thing that I am going to be critical of John on, okay?
Year one takes a lot, and I see a lot of people tweet that, hey,
Nick Saban did this in year one, Kirby did this in year one,
Urban did this in year one, and all that is very true.
All those are fun stats to think that, hey,
this is part of the process, and I believe you and I hear you on that.
They're obviously the caveat, which a lot of people will say,
but these guys didn't have the portal.
You have an opportunity to flip things around,
to do things, to overcome things.
And I would push back and say,
hey, you had a 4-8 football team.
You've taken a good chunk of this 4-8 football team
and then tried to patch it with some portal additions,
some good, some ----.
That's always going to happen in the portal.
I think that's what people misunderstood of like,
if you had a good foundation
and then you add a portal pieces, that's great.
This foundation on paper looked fantastic.
We said it ourselves,
but maybe we overlooked that.
I don't know.
Because some of these guys still have a little bit of that stench
that's maybe left over from that Napier culture.
You know, I genuinely don't know.
I think how he attacks this portal will tell us our feelings of that,
of like, okay, they're seeing what we're thinking too,
that we've got to just burn this thing to the ground,
which then it's going to have its own set of, you know,
concerns when you roll into that.
But that's besides the point.
We'll cross that bridge when we get there.
But that's the only thing that you have to push back of like,
We did the GM show, Cody and I, and they were a blast.
I can't wait to do it again this year.
We're going to have more data and more information
and more technology than ever before,
so we'll be having more fun with it.
But I remember vividly, we were like, hey,
we had an idea of what this offensive line cost.
We were shipping everybody out.
We had everybody going.
We were looking, okay, we're going to get this guy,
this guy, this guy, this guy.
Would that have been the right answers?
I don't know, but they kept everybody.
And they brought in a few guys who I didn't mind.
Harrison Moore, I think he's been a sound piece.
Hasn't been a great piece, but he's been sound.
TJ Shanahan may lack the skills,
but plays with, overcomes it with just heart and attitude.
Right?
We haven't seen Boyer.
That was the other addition from Penn State as well.
And then, of course, Emeka.
Look, I don't know.
Guy's been getting throttled.
But the majority of this line was kept intact.
I don't feel like we've seen a whole lot of them.
That were kept, unfortunately.
Look, nothing against these guys.
I think that there's just, you know, we've got to figure something out.
When you're looking around the league,
you see what we're talking about Kentucky.
Well, Kentucky went and spent a penny on Kenny Mitchell.
Kenny Mitchell was somebody who I wanted.
I think at one point they were in the conversation
for Kenny Mitchell, if I'm not mistaken.
If I remember properly, Florida was.
Who I was very high on.
And I do remember defending the fact
because he hasn't played a whole lot.
I liked where he was coming from.
Very similar to Philo.
We're both sat behind good quarterbacks.
One behind Haynes King.
The other one lost his job to CJ Carr.
A little bit older.
I think he's a much higher recruit coming out
of high school than Kenny Minchew was.
So you had that going for you.
But on paper, looked eerily similar.
And you're bringing your coordinator over.
So at that time and place, it didn't look as much of a difference.
But Kenny Minchew's been really good.
And then they went
and got Sanders, the offensive tackle from Tennessee.
Gave him $3 million.
The guy left Tennessee demanding what he wanted.
And you got a new quarterback, new system.
And you go and you spend money.
To protect said quarterback.
We didn't do those things.
And I think that's part of a critique of we overlooked.
We had two young quarterbacks, right?
We didn't go out and spend it on the quarterbacks.
That's fine, but what do you do to counter that?
You spend money on Jaden Ball?
Okay, love that.
You're going to hand the ball off to him.
But who's going to block for him?
And I feel like we try to put a band-aid on that
versus go ahead and maybe overspend in that room.
And I think that was a complete overlook from this staff.
And I don't know if they may try to trust in Troutwine and make,
hey, this guy can fix it.
And I do believe that he's done a pretty bang-up job for what he's got.
Let's be honest.
I think they've played well above their pay grade up until this point.
But the way Buster's going to want to do,
he needs a little bit more love if you want to keep this thing
rocking and rolling here.
Look, got a big matchup against Oklahoma
who hasn't done much offensively.
They got throttled by South Carolina.
Cocktober is alive and well.
Shane Beamer keeps on rocking and rolling.
He's feeling himself.
And again, this South Carolina team,
Does it surprise me?
Yeah, because of Shane Beamer.
Does it shock me?
No, because we talked all offseason.
I go, this is going to be a team to watch,
but they've been a team to watch for the last three years.
It just depends on whether or not it finally clicks.
And I don't know if it's going to or not,
but that team, they went out there and spent money.
They spent a ton of money on the offensive line.
They had a quarterback who they trusted,
who they believed that had been there in that system
for quite some time, and it's starting to click for them.
So, look, good for them that the investment
seems to be paying off up until this point.
We have the same record as they do, right?
And I think that's the wild part is that our record,
and that's the whole big thing.
The record, it's not horrible.
It's not great.
It's kind of right where we expected.
You just look in front of you.
And I knew at this game, going into this game,
win or lose, you still have a long season ahead of you.
Like every game is genuinely a split,
because the question still remains,
what Florida team is going to show up?
That's the part that continues to just blow my mind.
And it's not even anymore because offensively, obviously it's,
it's having its issues, but it's the discipline.
It's the, the,
the lack of focus and the attention to detail that continues to,
to arise. And look, I mean,
John getting the dumb penalty on the
sideline that he called himself a dumb
as for that is in a, in a, in a, in a sense to kind of just, you know,
Speaks to the team.
We're getting too in our motions.
We're playing a little bit too high.
And that's something that, I don't know,
John's got to figure out or what's got to have happened.
Look, I love his energy.
Again, I'm still very supportive.
He said in his post-game presser,
like, hey, I promise you we're going to fix this thing.
We're going to turn this thing around.
I hope that is one of those speeches
that we look back from a couple years from now
and we go, he kept his promise, right?
Boys and girls, I'm fired up.

huge shout-out to those guys.
That's going to be what we focus on over these next couple of weeks.
I think what really just stings of, look, look, I always say this,
and I'm sick and tired of saying it.
You never want to lose.
It's never okay to accept a loss.
But losing is natural.
It's part of the game.
But how you do it.
We have three losses, and all three of them,
we just look like we don't even belong on the football field.
And to be honest with you, our win over Texas,
there was a half where we didn't look like we belonged either.
Can you just give me four quarters
of just good, complimentary football?
What happened to the team?
I remember this.
You guys remember this?
Steve went to the scrimmage
and John came out afterwards
and the referees talked about
how well-disciplined this football team was,
the lack of penalties they had.
What the hell happened?
Were we being gaslit?
Were those guys paid to not be over the top?
Or were we just in our own little comfort zone
and they felt comfortable
because they believed in themselves
and now that confidence is gone?
So now everybody's overthinking everything.
That could be, I don't know.
I don't know.
But that kind of has me scratching my head of like,
a month ago, we were praising these guys,
two months ago now, of how well they were functioning.
So I don't know.
I don't know.
A lot of head scratchers.
I think that's the biggest thing that I feel like
every time I leave a loss,
I'm more confused than the week prior.
Coming off a bye week.
You've got to be way more sound than that.
It looked like, I think that's what concerns me the most,
is that a lot of fans did not like Philo being named the starter.
And I said it on this microphone, hey, I'm trusting the staff.
They must see something that we don't know.
I worded it in that way
because I kind of felt all that you guys are feeling
was like, it just doesn't make sense.
But I also know that I don't know everything.
I'm not the smartest guy in the room by any stretch of the imagination.
I was like, maybe I'm missing something.
Maybe I don't want to be like an overreactor.
I'm trying to stay level headed here, but.
Again, the thing that we felt with Trammell
that wasn't necessarily put on paper.
And I know people who were going to be like,
look, the fact of the matter is
neither quarterback has looked exceptional.
Neither quarterback has given us a reason to be like,
yeah, they both have their concerns,
but there's something that you cannot measure
that Trammell has brought to this offense
that I'm like, okay, regardless of what we talk about,
regardless of how somebody practices,
the team and the offense flows much better
when Trammell is in.
That's a matter of a fact.
So he may turn it over.
That might be his kryptonite.
Well, Philo doesn't move the ball.
When Philo is in, the offense doesn't move.
That's his kryptonite.
I'd rather at least have a chance to move the ball
and give me a chance to score
when we turn it over later on down the road
than what's happening right now.
So that, to me, is where, again,
I felt a little bit of, like, it doesn't make any sense.
So I hope that this isn't a conversation.
He did not announce a starter here.
He goes, look, we're going to have to go back and look at it.
Not happy about that conversation either.
I
If I had to guess, there was a change with the defense.
don't
He came out the Monday after we got our asses wally-wopped
and said, yep, we made some adjustments, we did some things,
and he was more hands-on.
I think the same conversation now has to slip over
to the offensive side of things,
where he's got to go and make a decision.
know.
I do believe there have been times where
John may be trying to trust these coordinators
to go out there and do their things.
And are we having a case
of the good old-fashioned ego thing with Buster?
I don't know.
I've seen it before.
I've seen it before, unfortunately.
And that's the thing, too, with Florida fans, right?
We want to be patient, as patient as we can be.
We do and we don't.
But I want to be understanding to the fact
that this is their first year together,
all as a coach, a lot of expectation, yada, yada, yada.
But the problem is that because of the last four years,
we're always going to point to that.
And when we see similar signs.
Right. We always used to joke about Napier about being kind
of like the crazy girlfriend.
Right. And you come in and do the thing
and get us all excited and bring it and reel us back in.
Right. But there were signs of crazy.
There were signs of just what are we doing?
And there will be moments where we would like like to forget that.
Well, these signs are showing up again.
And I feel like for somebody who talks about it,
I can't overlook it because although it is somebody new.
I, you know, the signs are there
and the incompetence that I'm seeing with this
offensive play calling and the predictability,
it's all coming right back. And is it again,
who knows what it is? Is it
because of the lack of blocking? Is it be, I'm sure,
I'm sure there's multiple reasons,
but you're an offensive coordinator. I saw Northwestern
and Chip Kelly throw four wide receivers
in the backfield yesterday. Figure something out.
I mean, have these guys so off-kilter of like,
we're going to just try something new
because we have to overcome these things.
Like, you've had six weeks now to adjust.
Somebody asked you from GNFP,
Gain Nation Football Podcast,
like, hey, is there a tell sign?
Your tell sign is your stupid window dressing
doesn't work anymore.
So...
I don't know.
Lots to unpack, per usual.
Monday's Champs Corner should be fun.
Look, it's nice to see the heat off of the defense for a little bit.
We flipped who we're pointing the finger at,
and now it's to the offensive side of things.
But for me, it's Trammell's job for now.
I don't know how you don't go with him.
The offensive line has to improve dramatically.
I'm
The running back blocking hasn't been what it was.
starting
The perimeter blocking has lost a little of its luster.
And again, is it because these guys are, you know,
banged up and bruised up?
Possibly.
And look, Kirby even mentioned this the other day
about, hey, this nine-game conference.
to
We haven't even got to that yet.
We're not even in the thick of it
speak
to where that should be affecting it.
And I do agree with that to an extent.
I think more so, and I said this
when I was talking with Uncle Lou,
the parity of college football has changed so much
now.
that the quality of teams have all leveled out.
So that's a factor.
But you wonder what is happening
with these guys being so banged up.
More than ever before, there's a phenomenon that's happening.
I've got a separate video that I'm going
to make about that because it is intriguing and
I have a theory on it that I think that could be causing it.
Some may say it's because they're soft.
This generation is a bunch of pansies.
It's NIL.
It could be accumulation of all those things.
I think there's something else that could
be that not enough people are talking about.
I might sound crazy when I say it.
But I think that it's possibly part of it as well.
So, you guys be good.
Have a happy Sunday.
