The days after that teen was shot on his way
to this Claremont High School here in the Bronx,
families claimed he was being bullied.
Now, people are expected to gather just outside of this high school
as they call on justice for Javits Fringpong,
a movement that has sparked rallies,
gathered the attention of celebrities
and even local leaders like Mayor Zoran Mamdani.
Now, in a statement over the weekend, the mayor shared in part,
Javits Fringpong's mother deserves to say goodbye to her son in person.
I just got off the phone with President Trump,
and he has agreed to grant her visa immediately.
That call by the mayor comes as Fringpong's mother is based in Ghana.
The teen had immigrated from their home country just one
year ago before tragedy struck the morning of October 29th.
Police say Fringpong was on his way to school
when he was shot in the stomach.
Surveillance video even shows that teen running.
Down East 171st Street from the alleged suspects before the gunfire.
Now investigators say they are searching
for three people believed to be between the ages of 16 to 18.
Now rallies have continued to spark over the weekend,
calling for justice in the teen's death.
Many even pleading the suspects to turn themselves
in and changes to prevent another young life from being lost.
Days after the 50-year-old was killed,
one friend even shared a past incident Fringpong faced.
And how they'll remember him.
It was just one altercation with two kids,
but it was really nothing serious.
He was a fun kid to hang around
with because he would never look for trouble.
And that rally this morning is expected to start
at 8 just outside of William H. Tapp High School here,
where organizers tell us they'll be speaking about gun violence,
fringepunk's death, and also anti-bullying laws.
In Claremont, Jonathan Calixto, News 12.
