Police are now asking for your help to find the person
who stabbed a 28 year old woman while she was out jogging.
News 12's Morgan Scott is sharing the latest on what we know
and why another stabbing is causing concern for residents.
It's marathon day in New York City,
and while thousands of runners made their way
around the route, the one runner whose absence is felt
is 28-year-old Katie Suarez.
Police sources say she was out for a jog
off the Belt Parkway in Bath Beach Friday night
around 8 p.m., training for the marathon,
and she was stabbed multiple times in her neck.
First thing I thought of is, how can this happen?
That same corner where a woman was killed by a sanitation truck
not more than a week ago, and there was a shooting over there.
While police have yet to identify a suspect,
they're asking for anyone who may have seen Suarez Friday night
to please come forward.
Officers say the 28-year-old is still in critical condition.
But state senator Stephen Chan tells News 12 she may be brain dead.
It's very concerning.
Even when I was younger, I don't remember the last time I remember
something bad happening around those areas was the Son of Sam.
Less than 48 hours after Katie Suarez was stabbed,
police say a 17-year-old boy was also stabbed here on West 4th Street
and Kings Highway, about a mile and a half away.
He was bleeding very bad, so he was actually fainting.
In video taken by witnesses of the stabbing, you can see the victim
sitting on the front steps as someone with him calls out for help.
Please comment!
A trail of his blood still left behind
from the attack that happened just before 1 a.m.
I thought at first it was possibly some kind of a Halloween stunt,
and then I realized shortly that it was the real deal.
Police say the teenager stabbed in his chest
and slashed in his head and arm is still in the hospital,
but no word yet on any suspects.
