Welcome to Good Night LA. I'm Susan Hirasuna.
I hope you're having a happy Halloween.
While the party is still going strong in West Hollywood,
revelers come from all over to attend
the iconic Halloween carnival, even in the rain.
Fox 11's Laura Diaz joins us now live.
Laura, how's it going?
Well, you know what, there's still about
an hour left to the formal part of this block party,
if you will. But I have to tell you, Susan,
I'm a little soggy, as you just mentioned, it's raining.
But the people watching here, it's off the hook.
As you look around, you see every kind
of costume in the world.
And it's really fun to watch people go by and hear about
what they're wearing and why they chose that costume.
Rain didn't matter at all.
I think one of the after parties are like so fun.
From Maryland's to Medusa's to Monsters,
a little bit of Halloween rain, not enough to
scare off party revelers this Saturday night.
This is the iconic West Hollywood carnival
held every year where you go big or you go
home.
The street celebration brought out people rocking
their most creative costumes like
this trio who had a definite theme going on.
The WeHo block party was closed to traffic
and extended down a one-mile stretch of Santa
Monica Boulevard between Doheny and La Cienega.
As disco music blared, people in bright,
colorful costumes got their groove on.
Some danced in the street while holding an umbrella,
like this couple who drove all the
way from Santa Clarita.
Earlier in the day...
There were cute kids dressed as unicorns
and a puppy named Chico donning a costume for Halloween.
My baby's on the Halloween.
Some bars held costume contests, but most of all,
it was all about a street party energy.
And coming back live here, if you're not sure exactly where we are,
that's the Abbey off to the left there.
And a lot of people have been gravitating there
and then walking up the street.
As you just heard those young men say off the top,
they really enjoy the after party.
But right now, this party is still going full throttle.
I'm Laura Diaz, reporting live
from West Hollywood, sending it back to you.
Susan?
Laura, thank you. Dressed as a soggy reporter.
For many Angelinos, Halloween goes hand in hand
with Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.
And in Linwood tonight, there was a festive celebration,
including mariachi music, Aztec dancers, and blessings for ancestors.
Many attendees wore costumes
and tell Fox 11 it was a joyful experience.
The people participating with their kids and the rest of the people,
and see it all together.
We're going to go there.
I'm enjoying the place and my work. I'm so happy.
The celebration also featured cultural exhibits,
altars, and trick-or-treat stops for the kids.
The event was hosted by Plaza Mexico.
Rain showers are moving through Southern California
as Halloween festivities wind
down. Wet weather slowing traffic
and creating those slick conditions along the coast in Santa
Monica. Drivers returning home tonight
are advised to use extra caution. Take it slow
on those roads. For more on the weather,
let's send it over to meteorologist Star Harvey.
Midnight LA Weather is sponsored by the law offices of Larry H. Parker.
Well we did get a soggy start to our Halloween weekend.
In fact we started off pretty dry today
and the rain did pick up during the second half of our Saturday.
We are still left behind with
I'd say some cloud cover.
We can actually see it moving about here across
our mountaintops but also
left behind with another round
of showers sticking around through at least some portions of our
overnight hours and into tomorrow as well.
Here's a bigger picture of what's happening across the
We do have mostly light
to some moderate
activity coming down.
We also have pockets picking up some of those heavier cells.
So out to the west of us, moving across areas like Ventura County,
Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and over into portions of Santa Barbara.
We'll
be
right
back.
Light to moderate to earlier throughout our afternoon today,
but as we move into our overnight hours and tomorrow morning,
we are likely to see some of that rain begin to pick up.
You can see those colors popping up on our map here.
This again is at the 1 a.m. hour tomorrow,
pushing into areas east of L.A. right across the city.
We may still see some of that scattered activity hanging around.
Pushing into tomorrow morning, rain not quite done.
In fact, we may see some of those spotty chances
for rain sticking around through the afternoon.
I can tell you that as we move into tomorrow evening,
we should begin to see things clearing up, but also drying out for us.
Here's a look at that seven-day forecast.
Went ahead and kept those rain chances
in the forecast through at least tomorrow.
We're talking about a 50 to 70 percent chance of those showers.
Otherwise, our temperatures will be warming up
also as we do push into this upcoming work week.
But got to go ahead and enjoy what's left of the weekend.
It's going to continue to be a cool one.
Back to you.
A sewage spill in Long Beach has shut down all
coastal swimming areas, including beaches,
bays and lagoons. Officials say
the spill happened near Livingston Drive and 2nd Street in the Belmont
Shores area. Approximately 29,000 gallons spilled.
It was reported last night after a pressurized
sewage force main broke. The closures will remain
in effect until water testing confirms it's safe.
An LAPD officer-involved shooting
is under investigation after police say they responded
to a robbery call at 4th
and Omar Streets in downtown L.A. Authorities say a suspect armed
with a metal bar attacked an officer.
An officer opened fire wounding the suspect before he was
taken down with a taser. Both the officer
and suspect are in stable condition at local hospitals.
A call for justice today in the San Fernando Valley.
19-year-old Kimberly Pastor was one of two people shot and killed
during a party just steps away
from Cal State Northridge earlier this month.
Today, Pastor's family held a vigil
and announced a wrongful death lawsuit
against the venue where it happened called Artist's Lounge.
The victim's mother spoke while holding Kimberly's two-year-old son.
I don't want my daughter case to be forgotten
or I would like everything I had to do to get justice
because they took my only daughter that I had
and this is this just it just hurt like I don't even
accept it. Felice Pastor and the other victim were unintended targets.
The shooter remains at large.
The countdown is on to Election Day,
and one of the closest races is the one for L.A. Mayor.
Incumbent Karen Bass and challenger Nithya Raman are spending
this weekend making their final pleas to voters.
Fox 11's Nick Garcia reports.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya
Raman each spent Saturday on the campaign trail.
Trying to win over undecided voters.
And with just days until election day,
both candidates are really honing their messages to voters.
A top issue for them
and the residents of L.A. is the city's problem with homelessness.
As voters weigh who should lead
the nation's second largest city for the next four years,
they're also concerned about public safety,
affordability and L.A.'s aging infrastructure.
Raman attending a Halloween block party in Encino.
Things have gotten worse in L.A.
30,000 streetlights are out, and streetlights take a year to repair.
Trash is on our streets. Graffiti is worse.
Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent,
and homelessness is still rising.
Mayor Bass also on the attack at a labor rally.
You say you're for affordable housing, but you didn't build any.
But you don't know Daryl Gates and Rodney King.
A poll out this week conducted online
by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and
the LA Times shows a dead heat.
Bass and Raman with 40% each, 19% of voters are still undecided.
2,197 likely voters were surveyed between October 19th and the 25th.
Both candidates
now making their final push to voters.
We are within hours and it comes down to turnout.
And I will tell you the turnout is pretty slow right now,
so everything that you are doing this weekend
to get out the vote is life and death in this campaign.
You can vote for change and improvement.
I know that City Hall can work for every single resident of this city,
but this mayor has taken us for granted.
Nick Garcia, Fox 11 News.
No winner in tonight's $760 million Powerball drawing.
Tonight's numbers are 2, 4, 18, 50, 56, and the Powerball is 20.
Monday's drawing will now be worth $793 million.
A huge Halloween win for the USC Trojans tonight.
They took down the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes at the Coliseum.
Coming up in sports,
Gerard Manchere will have a full highlight reel and reaction.
We'll be right back.
Ghosts, ghouls, and superheroes out
in full force in Toluca Lake tonight.
Trick-or-treaters filled their candy bags early to beat the rain.
Thanks to Fox 11's Phil Schumann for sending us this video.
What is he dressed as? I wonder.
Well, some people carve a pumpkin, and then there are Burbank residents
who take Halloween to an entirely different level.
You're going to want to take a look
at some of these spectacular setups.
This is my house.
This is my circus.
These are my clowns.
This actually came from the mind of my son.
And now her kid and all of his friends run the haunt.
Right.
This year, our theme is paralysis.
As they've gotten older, the haunt's gotten
progressively more and more scary, and it's
really fun.
We have guest clowns that come back every year.
My first time checking out these haunted houses.
I like this place a lot.
You should come here.
Production value is pretty good.
It's her very first Halloween ever.
She just got here from China.
Yeah.
Get out of here.
We also have chainsaw alley,
where you'll get chased by clowns with chainsaws.
The chainsaw won't scare me the most.
Oh my gosh.
Once you go in, there's no rules. You may not come out.
I'd recommend this to my best friend.
We have John Misari, the composer from Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
I've done music all my life.
It's Killer Clowns from Outer Space that has distinguished me
and endeared me to the horror community.
Next one we're going to go to is called Holiday Fantasies Come to Life.
We got Davy Jones!
This year they surprised everybody
and they built a gigantic pirate ship in their yard
and they're doing Pirates of the Caribbean.
I'm going to be in.
Pirates no matter what, since generations,
that pirates drives a lot of people.
They have live actors every single night
with pirates that you can go and take pictures with.
It's totally kid-friendly.
Happy Halloween!
This dream started 16 years ago.
It started as a graveyard.
I used to do the spooky side. Not anymore.
And that's because little ones, you know, they will cry and run away.
And I really don't want that.
You're never too old to be a kid.
Even though when I was a little kid, I was very spoiled, a lot of toys.
And I'm still playing. I'm still having fun.
Why not make someone happy with playing with my toys?
The kids go there and their eyes light up
because it's like being at Disneyland for them.
And a lot of people can't afford to go to Disneyland.
Burbank Haunt is totally cool for kids.
This is one of the most awesome Burbank Haunts,
Beetlejuice. It's not scary, it's totally family friendly. Owner John,
he's been doing it for three years now. He does all the animatronics,
everything himself. He has the dinner scene from Beetlejuice.
He has a really cool portal that you open the door,
and it looks like you're walking through a portal.
Girl from Beetlejuice, where she's taking tickets
and the door's opening and closing.
It's one of my favorite displays in all of Burbank.
They're raising money for the John Burroughs High School
Stagecraft Tech Crew.
It's totally free, but if people want to donate,
it's an awesome cause to donate to.
Buena Vista Haunt.
Michael Myers, the Buena Vista Haunt.
I got my pumpkin patch, cemetery, and spooky spider cave.
But it's not scary.
It's totally family friendly.
I freak out when somebody's like chasing me, but he was really nice.
That's my thing.
Friendly neighborhood Michael Myers.
That's where it's at.
It's a really fun place for kids to go
who are kind of just getting into spooky stuff
because it's not super scary.
I don't like to scare the kids.
This is for children.
At first we were scared of him,
but then he invited us to take a picture, so we took a
picture and he was really nice.
This is a labor of love.
I work on this all year round.
This is the new big project I made, the Camp Crystal Lake.
You're going to see a maze, you're going to see a scare actor,
you're going to see a house
decorated, a whole bunch of things.
You're going to enter into the bride's section
that's glow-in-the-dark that begins the spider
cave.
And then you walk into the spider cave,
there's a lot of creepy crawlers in there.
I just want people to have a good time, a safe time.
A lot of scary stuff when it comes to the Trojans tonight.
I'm Gerard Moncure.
How about the bounce back for USC against number two, Ohio State?
Highlights are on the way, but first,
tonight's Pechanga Sports poll question,
which is who will take tomorrow's game
for local bragging rights in the NFL out at SoFi?
The Rams or Chargers?
Head to foxla.com slash vote and cast your vote.
Results coming up at the end of sports.

Welcome back. Weather-wise, miserable Halloween night out
at Exposition Park, rain pelting away all evening long.
But through the storm, which USC had been experiencing all week
long anyways after that debacle versus Wisconsin last week,
the Trojans found themselves ready to regroup
and revive their season despite No. 2 Ohio State meeting them
on the Coliseum grass this evening.
Quarterback Jade Maiava coming off maybe
his worst game since taking over the starting QB duties at USC.
But he opens with the bang, first possession,
hits pass to Trent Mosley, and the Super Frosh is off to the races.
Past the defense, 69 yards for the touchdown.
USC opens with a stunning play and a 7-0 lead.
Trojans now holding a commanding 20-9 lead in the third.
Maiava across to Mark Bowman.
Watch the former modern-day star go up and over
using a little Saquon Barkley action,
taking the ball all the way to the three-yard line.
USC would punch that home for a 27-9 advantage.
Ohio State scores a touchdown,
a little over two minutes left in the game.
Goes for the two-point conversion here.
But Luke Fahey's throw is to no one and out of the end zone.
This one remains a two-possession game,
and the Buckeyes cannot overcome the deficit.
Trojans shocked just about everyone
with a stunning 30-18 win over the Buckeyes.
All right.
Take care, guys.
Every game is its own season, like this is what it feels like.
.
And so you gotta try to bring it every single week.
We've put ourselves in a good position here.
This was a big one.
That's what
these games come down to when you get two really good teams.
There's two really good teams on the field.
Those two are the best teams in the country on the field right there.
And it's gonna come down to who plays
the situations best and we did it tonight.
UCLA-Nevada at the Rose Bowl earlier in the day,
and the Pack were horrible.
Out of the gate, this Luke Duncan pass,
his third interception to start the afternoon.
It's returned 26 yards by Derek Barsdale.
Bruins up 10-0 in the first.
Same score in the second tie.
Diffenbach fakes the handoff and keeps the Rock
into the end zone for a 17-0 UCLA lead into the half.
Moore in the third.
Diffenbach dumps to the middle.
And there's Wayne Knight.
He will do the rest.
They would review this, but ultimately call it a UCLA touchdown.
Bruins go up big and ultimately win this one, 27-0 UCLA.
Now 8-0 under Chesney.
And they will be in Minneapolis next
weekend taking on a very tough game.
Minnesota Golden Gopher team.
Today's victory, by the way, the first Bruins shutout since 2015.
Speaking of Minnesota, they played Indiana and had a finish.
You had to see to believe.
Tied at 13 apiece with 19 seconds left.
Minnesota's Luke Drywicky knocks down the 60-yard field goal,
giving the Golden Gophers a lead.
They can smell the upset.
But on Indiana's final drive, they hit their own 60-yarder,
Patty McAteer, with the equalizer, and we're heading to overtime.
Hoosiers' first play of overtime.
Brent Wilson to Charlie Becker, that's a touchdown.
Indiana back in control.
Gophers close in.
On their possible tying score.
But Drake Lindsey goes down on fourth down.
Hoosiers survive with a 23-16 victory.
What a finish it was in Bloomington's.
And finally, there's a new champion in the WNBA.
Golden State Valkyries win game seven
of the finals over the Atlanta Dream.
68-63, notching the club's first ever championship
in only their second year in the league.
Series MVP, Gabby Williams.
Scoring 28 of her 30 points in the second half.
And WNBA record.
And congrats to the Valkyries on a great season.
All right, on the ice.
Kings lose to the Sabres 3-2.
And finally, the results of our Pechanga
Sports poll question of the night.
67% of you believe the Rams win over the Chargers tomorrow.
That's your Saturday Night Sports.

filming on The Batman Part II was temporarily halted

The accident happened earlier this month.
The unidentified cast member was taken to the hospital

Production has since resumed,

The sequel is now expected in theaters in February of 2028.
Pop star Tate McRae is reaching new heights on the music charts.
Her latest single, Housewife,
has debuted at number one on the Billboard streaming songs chart,
pulling in nearly 23 million streams in its first week.
The track marks McRae's very first number one
on the streaming chart as a lead artist.
It's also number one, by the way, on the Billboard Global 200 as well.
All right, that is it for us tonight.
NFC West Huddle is coming up next for you.
