Well, this has certainly raised concerns about safety
for women living in this neighborhood.
We spoke with two residents, including one resident
who lives in the building where police say the assault happened.
Police say it happened around 1230 Sunday morning
in the area of Bedford and Willoughby Avenues.
An unidentified person slapped the woman
on her buttocks before allegedly following her inside a building,
sexually assaulting her and then taking off.
One resident who lives inside the building says.
She noticed a heavy presence of police later
that morning as investigators gathered evidence.
So they were like in and out of the stairwell a lot.
We also spoke with a woman who's lived on this block for 30 years.
She says she's never experienced anything like
this in the neighborhood.
And as someone who has daughters of her own,
she shared this advice with other women.
You got to carry something. You got to have some kind
of whistle. You got to have something.
But you got to try.
Now the woman was transported to the hospital
and is in stable condition.
Police say no arrests have been made
and the investigation remains ongoing.
