Since we got here during the two o'clock hour there's
been a steady flow of foot traffic.
Thousands have showed up for trick-or-treating
but also new this year a block party.
Choose wisely. Good job young ones. Happy Halloween.
To not only win the trick-or-treatiest street in America
but also to win it in the
in the very first year is an honor for our town,
I think all of our townspeople.
Mario, Luigi, and Buzz Lightyear, you name it,
and they were lining East Dudley Avenue
to get their hands on Halloween candy
on the trick-or-treatiest street in America, coined
by the Reese's brand at the Hershey Company.
Westfield beat out 149 other contenders nationwide.
Please take a candy!
Andy!
Choose wisely, happy Halloween.
More special here than anywhere around
that I could remember or recall ever,
even dating back like to the 90s.
Have you ever come to Westfield to experience it?
This is my first Westfield Halloween,
and we had heard so much about it,
I wanted to come out here with my wife, Alexis.
I'm really blown away by the generosity of the people that are here
and the incredible Halloween spirit.
That Halloween spirit is what separated Westfield from the rest
for the Halloween Council, says Reese's brand at the Hershey Company.
They are all in. They believe in it thoroughly.
The participation, the creativity, and the community spirit.
Mayor Jeremy Berman expected around 10,000 visitors between
the Reese's block party
and trick-or-treating,
but he could see numbers exceeding his expectations.
Crowds like this led some homeowners
to run out of candy around sundown.
We thought we had enough candy to last the night,
but we made it till about 6.30 p.m.
It's 30 p.m.
5,000 pieces of candy.
Next year, we might have to get 10,000 next year.
I'm also told Hackensack was one of those 150 contenders in Westfield.
