Switch gears a little bit because there is a cool partnership
that is going on with Independence Blue Cross and my guys,
the fly guys. So we brought Colleen in.
Colleen is with Independence Blue Cross. Colleen, talk to us
a little bit about this partnership you guys have with the Flyers.
Greg, thanks for having me.
Yes, we have a new partnership with the Flyers.
It's called the Flyers IBX Give Back.
And there are several initiatives under
that program where we are giving back to the community.
Right now, what we just launched is a coat drive with the Flyers.
So it's in partnership with the Flyers as well as Cradles to Crayons.
And we are taking donations for gently used
or new coats as part of a winter coat drive.
There are 15 locations where people can drop off coats.
This includes the Xfinity Mobile Center.
At every entrance within the Xfinity Mobile Center,
there are drop-off bins where people
can drop off coats.
In addition, at the Flyers Practice Center over in Voorhees,
New Jersey, there's a drop-off
location.
And at Independence Blue Cross, we have Independence Live,
which is at 1919 Market Street.
People can drop off coats as part of the winter coat drive as well.
Now, let me ask you, I mean,
why was it so important for both organizations,
yours and the Philadelphia Flyers, to hold the winter drive?
So it really was important because we wanted to make sure that,
you know, every kid has the opportunity, A, to be warm.
Obviously, you know, it gets cold here
in Philadelphia during the winter.
So we want to make sure kids feel warm.
But in addition to that, that they feel safe,
secure, and that they can be confident, right?
Right.
Having everything that you need as a kid is so vitally important
and this winter coat drive gives us the opportunity as well as all
the great Flyers fans and Philadelphians to really contribute
to this and make sure that we're looking out for each other
and every kid has what they need this winter.
And you talk about looking out for each other.
I mean, how does it feel to be a part of an initiative that is really,
you know, looking out for the community?
It feels great to be a part of this initiative.
We, as Independence Blue Cross, have a long history here
in the Philadelphia region, and giving back
is a vital part of what we do.
Our mission really is to improve the health and well-being
of the people in the communities that we serve,
and this is one way that we're able to do that.
Through this IVX and Flyers Give Back initiative,
we've also done some things with CHOP.
We've done a volunteer effort with them.
With their Cabot's Wellness Center, which provides food,
healthy food for children and the community.
I've also participated
with the Ed Snyder Youth Hockey League at their field day,
which really encourages physical activity with youth and mentorship.
So all these opportunities really
to help kids here in the Philadelphia area,
as well as the general community here in Philadelphia.
And last thing, I mean, Colleen, I imagine...
There's always a need, but I feel like there's even more of a need.
And so this really comes at a pivotal
and crucial time to have a drive like this.
Absolutely. I think, you know,
everybody obviously is struggling with affordability.
So there are probably even more people
this year where it's tough to find coats.
And especially with children, you know, they grow so fast.
So the coat from last year may not work this year.
So it's important that kids have what they need.
During this time of the year,
as well as you know throughout the year, which is why this IBX
and Flyers Give Back initiative is not just this coat drive.
It is a year-round initiative to make sure that we
are helping the community in every way that we can meet
the needs of children here in the Philadelphia region.
Very good. Colleen, I always like to ask, is there anything else that
you would like to mention for our viewers to hear that I didn't ask?
One more thing that I would love to share
with everyone is that another thing that we're doing
with the Flyers is IBX Caring MVPs,
which is really shining a light on people who give back
to the community. So during one Flyers game each month during
the season, we will be recognizing
somebody who is doing outstanding work as a volunteer.
So we will be giving that person
the opportunity to be recognized at a Flyers game.
They'll get a personalized Flyers jersey.
They will also get a swag bag
and a $500 donation to the organization of their choice.
So we're excited about that initiative, too,
because there are so many people that are
doing incredible things to improve the region here
that we live in, and we want to make
sure that they get the recognition they deserve.
All right.
Colleen, thank you very much for joining us.
Truly appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
Thanks for having me.
