Good morning. Taking a live look at the Center City skyline.
Beautiful start to the day.
Happy Halloween, everyone. Can you believe it?
Oh, the lighting, the pumpkins.
Spooky. Drew, I cannot believe that it's Halloween, and I've
been gearing up for Halloween all week, and now I'm like, it's here,
it's about to go, and then tomorrow we get ready for the next holidays.
You're right. Christmas stuff's already out.
Oh, I know.
For real, I have pictures of this. Some people
already have their house decorated for Christmas.
I believe it. I'm not that crazy.
Crazy.
I did put on some lobster ears so I could be a little bit festive.
Where's your...
I can match that.
Okay.
There we go.
Let me put my glasses on right here.
Oh, that's better.
And a little construction hat.
Oh, cool.
Oh, my God.
Bob the Builder.
Drew the Builder.
Yeah.
We're doing some construction and weather.
You know, we have new sunrise and sunset time.
There we go.
So we're plowing out.
The old ones, putting in the new ones.
Look, you're always prepared.
I wish I wore a red dress to really go with the lobster fit,
but, you know, nothing like last time.
There we go. I like it, Drew.
I can swing with this.
You can. It's a little...
I think that's a little backwards here.
You can tell I'm not a construction worker.
Yeah, there we go.
Thank you, Morgan.
How are you feeling on this holiday?
Feeling great.
It's such a beautiful morning, and we have such great weather today.
I'm so happy, and yesterday it felt
absolutely beautiful in the afternoon.
Oh my gosh, there's 70?
Yes.
How good was that?
Now, today we're not as fortunate.
We only roll into the low 60s.
It's a chilly start.
Look at those 30s showing up in Redding and in Atlantic City,
And we see our numbers.
We'll be
right back.
Those winds had a little bit of a punch in the afternoon.
That is not the case today.
We will keep the wind nice and light for you so it looks like
that all day, which means your inflatables are good to go.
How about this yard in Gloucester County? That's pretty cool.
So all weekend long, the wind will stay light temperatures, by the way.
Yeah, a little on the cool side, but I'm going to tell you,
that's what's average for this time of the year.
So it's a typical end of October day, a typical Halloween.
As for trick-or-treating later tonight,
here's your numbers falling through the 50s after that sunset,
now in the 5 p.m. hour at 5:59, but just for one day,
because tonight we're falling back with the clocks.
As we do that, it will be chilly.
Look how we have more 30s showing up,
which means a little bit of frost to start your Sunday morning
if you're about an hour to the north or to the west of Philadelphia
and in some of the Pine Barrens of New Jersey as well.
Otherwise, we've got some 40s to get you started on a Sunday morning
with our new sunrise time coming right there at 6:29.
That's the one that hurts, the 4:58 p.m. sunset.
Let's plan ahead for your Sunday.
It's another beauty as we look at some of the fall color in Monaco.
Our numbers, exactly the same as today.
Now, there is one little difference tomorrow.
The wind is still light.
We just have some big, white,
puffy clouds in your sky as we start the morning.
But then the skies really clear out
in the afternoon, and it's nice and sunny
as we hit the low 60s yet again for your Sunday.
As for the mums outside, they are still looking great,
and you still need to water them.
As we roll into the work week for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,
that dry stretch continues, but you know what comes to an end.
We got some rain on the way at the end of the upcoming week,
so the rain rolls in Thursday afternoon, sticks around into Friday,
but guess what else is back in that seven day?
Some 70s after this chilly weekend.
Love seeing that. Let's check the forecast now.
Let's go check out the roads.
All right, a couple things going on this morning.
I want to get you started with the traffic flow.
A lot of green on the maps, but we've got
a sticky spot right here in Camden County.
Here's what's going on.
There's some construction this morning that's on 42 North.
You don't want to use 42 North
because it's closed between the New Jersey Turnpike and 295.
So you just want to scoot around that, use this road right here.
That'll take you around that issue.
If you're heading north, coming up out of Gloucester County,
moving into Camden County,
say heading toward Philadelphia and the Ben Franklin Bridge,
Oh, heads up, if you're in New Jersey and you use the Commodore Barry
Bridge, that's also slow this morning from a lane being blocked.
This is the other story of the morning.
You need some sunglasses.
Can you tell there's some sun glare as we look
this morning at 76 near City Line Avenue?
Fall color is looking so good.
We're peaking this weekend for fall color.
Here's 76 by the Roosevelt Expressway, nice and quiet there.
95 is looking good by the Blue Route.
And we'll wrap up our tour here looking at some fall color.
Look at those.
Beautiful reds on 202 by Malvern. Nice and quiet there.
The flyers are back tomorrow at 4 p.m.,
so plan for some more traffic right there tomorrow afternoon.
That is Check the Roads.
We'll send it back to you, Morgan.
All right, sounds good. Thanks Drew.
Happening today, one Philly HBCU week continues
with two Eagles legends returning to the link.
Deshaun Jackson and the Delaware State Hornets are taking
on Michael Vick and the Norfolk State Spartans.
I remember they had this big game last year, Ellen.
So you're live in South Philly. What's it looking like today?
Well, there's a lot of hype
and excitement surrounding all the activities today
for the culmination of what's called One Philly HBCU Week.
So a big game this afternoon and then also a special competition
for marching bands from a lot of the different schools.
Now, today's matchup, as you said,
pits Delaware State against Norfolk University.
That game starts at 3 o'clock.
Some star power for the game with former Eagle Deshaun Jackson
coaching Delaware State and Michael Vick coaching Norfolk.
So it should be a really great matchup.
But before that, seven HBCU marching bands will showcase
their talent and school pride
in a special competition that starts at 11 o'clock this morning.
Mayor Cherelle Parker also put together
a special One Philly Marching Band
with 120 members from schools across the city.
Now, all this celebrates the rich history, cultural traditions,
and educational legacy of historically black colleges and universities.
Mayor Parker, who is a proud alum of Lincoln University,
Join Good Day Philadelphia this week to talk about why
Why all these events mean so much.
One Philly, a united city.
This is what it looks like in action.
So come and join us.
This is for everyone here in our city and I'm excited.
Guess what, you still can get tickets today.
They're on sale.
We got a flash sale for both games.
$25.
Yeah.
$25.
Yeah, there are still tickets available,
and you can go to Ticketmaster for that.
So, again, the Battle of the Bands starts at 11 here this morning,
and then the game starts at 3.
And then they'll also have some special activities,
some special trick-or-treating activities for the kids.
So if you're bringing them out, maybe
you want to dress them up a bit more.
And so a lot of excitement out here.
We're just seeing some people starting to trickle in.
But, of course, more people will be coming
in as the morning progresses, right?
Ellen, for sure.
It's going to be a great day out there and beautiful weather for it.
So thank you so much.
Beautiful, yes.
We'll check back in with Ellen in just a little bit.
Now turning to developing news in Burlington County.
An adult and child are injured after a crash involving two
e-scooters and a pickup truck.
This happened right on Route 130
in Bordentown around 2.30 yesterday afternoon.
Details are limited, but we do know a juvenile
was airlifted to Cooper Hospital with critical injuries.
We also know an adult riding the other scooter was hurt.
I heard screaming, so I looked out, and I see people rushing over.
I see a couple other people stopping their cars.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene.
Right now, it's still unclear if they'll actually face charges.
A Philadelphia police officer is in the hospital, but in stable
condition after being hit by a car during a traffic stop in Germantown.
It happened around five yesterday evening.
Police say two officers were trying to pull over a reportedly stolen
car that was on the 5600 block of Germantown Avenue.
And that's when the driver struck one of the officers. We know they
were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
And police say the driver as well as the passenger in the car
are both minors. Right now they're both in the hospital.
In Chester County, a mail-in ballot is now in the hands
of the FBI after an election worker flagged it
while sorting through ballots yesterday morning.
The DA says the employee called 911 after feeling a,
quote, non-liquid substance inside the envelope.
The building was shut down for about an hour and a half
before hazmat teams determined there were no hazards present.
The chairman of the Board of Elections
and the DA say election worker safety is a big priority.
It's not a job people are signing up to do quite often right now.
They've been given every reason to feel unsafe,
not specific to this incident,
but just general attention on election workers.
And we have a duty as elected officials
to make sure that they're as safe as possible.
They're truly doing a service,
not just for the voters in this county, but everyone in the state.
And voter services workers across this state
are what make this election process happen.
Officials say they will stay vigilant leading up to Election Day.
Most polling locations in Pennsylvania will open
at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
And if you haven't made any Halloween plans, nothing like last minute,
there's a ton of things to do in our area to get you feeling spooky.
Over in Camden County, the Trick or Trot run is underway right now.
People are running 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons. Wow.
And once they cross the finish line,
they get to celebrate with Halloween candy.
That's a nice treat.
And then back over on the Philly side,
the Addams Family is at the Walnut Street Theater.
I love the Addams Family.
Tickets are still available for the 1 p.m. show starting around $110.
$110.
And in the South Street District,
there's a booze and bruise bar crawl with costume contests.
There's going to be karaoke, themed drinks, live music.
Sounds like a lot of fun.
And we know 15 local businesses are participating.
So, again, if you don't have plans, lots to do in our area today.
All right.
