AI GeneratedThe Shelby Township Lions are hosting a wine and food tasting event on Friday, November 6th, at the Palazzo Grande. This 10th-anniversary celebration aims to raise funds for Leader Dogs for the Blind and the I Heart Dog Rescue to support animal welfare and provide essential service animals.
This morning, we are learning all.
about a wine tasting with a mission to support local leader dogs.
Joining us this morning to
tell us all about it, we have Pete Lucido, Ray Confer,
and Sharon Christensen. Welcome, everyone.
Hi, how are you? Happy Halloween, everybody.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's always nice when you can come together with wine,
but for a great cause. Tell us about the
event. Let's talk about the fact that we're going to have wine,
food. We're going to also have
gourmet coffees. We're going to have liquor,
everything that you want, everything that
You can have a good time, but it's all for the cause, like you said.
Now, when is it, though?
You've got to tell us when and everything.
Well, okay, number one, it's the 6th of November, which is Friday.
I want you all to go ahead and mark your calendars now.
November 6th, it's at the Palazzo Grande.
You know the place.
And it's going to be an event.
This is our decade, 10 years.
We've been doing it, and we're doing it for...
All of those animals that are out there and the cause of animals.
So what's about the animals that'll be?
So I Heart Dog Rescue is a large rescue based out of Warren.
And we take in tons of animals that are homeless,
animals that come from abuse cases.
The shelter is full of animals.
And currently we have a roof that is leaking water on the dogs.
So we have to raise the money for the new roof for the haven.
Do we have a goal this year?
Well, our goal is to replace the roof.
But in the meantime, we have hundreds of animals with medical care,
animals that come in that are just off the streets, surgeries,
just animals with no place to go.
I have a chance usually to go out with rescues.
And one of the things that they tell me
is that it appears that animal cruelty is on the rise.
Would you say that that is true?
We're seeing a lot of animal cruelty.
Thank you.
We come in and we try to
We try to intercede that.
We try to take those animals in.
We also dedicate, iHeart is dedicated to abuse survivors.
We will take their animal in and house them
while they're getting their stability.
So it's a little bit different,
but anything we can do to help the animals.
The leader dogs, which we do, we've been doing for a long time.
Our club, Shelby Township Lions,
about six years ago was number one in the United States
giving to Leader Dogs.
And they're about $85,000 a dog.
You're blind, we give them to you.
So we have this event and other events.
November 6th at the Plaza Grande,
we'll have about 850 people, all food, liquor, wine,
anything you think.
You name it.
It's a fun event.
Talk about the difference these dogs make
in the lives of someone who may be blind.
If you can't see, that dog is your eyes.
Is your eyes, it takes you across the street, they're amazing.
And we have what's called compassionate dogs
that help with our victims in the office of
the prosecutor.
And without those dogs, those children-
Don't feel at ease when they're testifying in a court of law.
I see Chef Bobby in the shadows, come on in here,
Bobby, come on in here, come on in.
Hey, Chef.
Come on in.
Who doesn't love dogs?
And who doesn't like wine?
Let's have a toast to the dogs.
Cheers, cheers.
All right, don't forget everybody.
Meet us out at the Palazzo Grande on November 6th, that's Friday.
Mark your calendars.
We all look to see you and-
Most importantly, we're going to have you
as our guest for the benefit of the animals.
Here we go.
God bless everybody, and God bless our animals.
We'll see you there, everybody.
Salute.
We'll put a link to our website at foxdetroit.com.
Well, thank you so much for coming on.
Such a great cause.
Please make sure that you come and support me.
