Well, take a look at this.
We are learning some easy tricks to turn
your everyday makeup into a Halloween masterpiece.
Makeup artist Ashley Valentina is here to show us how it's done.
Welcome.
Hello, hello.
Thanks for having me.
Absolutely.
How long have you been doing makeup?
I've been doing makeup for about 12 years.
Wow.
And how'd you get into Halloween makeup?
You know, my mom is a nurse, so I study a lot of her medical books.
Really?
And I love special effects,
and I watched her put red lipstick on every day, and I just
started loving it.
That's so interesting.
Interesting. Okay. So you're going to show us what people can maybe
do at home to have a great Halloween face, I guess.
Who are we starting with here? Okay. This is my son, Ace.
Hi, Ace. And he has a skeleton face.
So what we're going to do here, we're going to add
a little bit more teeth onto him, kind of fill in a little bit here.
So what you do is just kind of take a little bit of white paint here
and just kind of dab to make some teeth.
And he has a half face, so we can kind of blend in.
Look at that.
Make some cool strokes here.
And then that's that for him.
Okay.
And then next we have Jennifer.
Jennifer is from the movie Obsession, Nikki.
So that's a very popular one this year.
Look at that.
We're going to drizzle a little blood on her.
So.
And what do you use for, like, the raised skin there?
How do you make that look like that?
So, that is scar wax, but you actually can make scar wax at home
with some Vaseline and foundation and flour.
Mix it together, that's it.
I have all that.
I don't know.
Wow, very easy.
That's it.
So, we just drizzle a little bit here on Jennifer
and just kind of have it come down her eyes a little bit
and a little bit here.
Wow, that looks very scary and bloody.
Bloody.
Okay. And then next here is Paris. Paris is a genie.
So we added some prosthetic ears here about two weeks ago.
And how do you get them to stay on? So there is a little slit here.
I can easily pull them off. Oh my gosh.
And then you can just pop them right back on. How cool. Just like that.
And with her, we're going to spray a little glitter.
She's already done up, so...
Looking fabulous.
Use hairspray glitter.
Ah.
And just kind of spray.
Okay, I love the tricks that you're sharing here.
Like, very simple tricks, not to...
Even though it looks fabulous, like, it looks very in-depth,
but hairspray glitter?
Yep, hairspray glitter.
You really can use homemade, everything at home.
Anything, Vaseline, flour, little foundation.
Wow.
That's it.
Okay, everyone looks amazing.
How long did it take for you to do, I mean, this blue situation here?
It's pretty cool.
Honestly, we did this about, it took us two hours for everybody.
So it took me maybe 30 minutes on her.
Okay.
30 on her and maybe 30 on Ace as well.
So not too bad.
Not too bad.
And this is a busy time of year for you?
It is very busy.
I'm actually a bridal makeup artist,
so I do bridal work, and this is my creative outlet.
So you do, like, the beautiful makeup for the big day
and then the scary makeup for spooky season.
What's the biggest request people
are asking for their Halloween makeup look?
Oh, my goodness.
I am getting a lot of Joker and Harley Quinn.
Those are good ones.
Are you booked today?
I am booked today, unfortunately.
Okay, well, if y'all didn't get an appointment,
as she shows you some tips and tricks,
you can maybe try at home with the Vaseline and flour.
Flour and foundation.
And foundation.
So hopefully that'll help you out.
You guys look fabulous.
You did a great job.
Thanks for joining us.
Thank you.
We'll have more information if you want
to book her for future appointments,
maybe your bridal appointment.
That'll be on our website at fox2detroit.com.
We'll be right back.
So cool.
I love it.
