And they were just so resilient all year because they had in April,
I believe that a six game
losing streak. And then they had a little bit later,
a four game losing streak. They lost the
game on May 4th, Craig,
that dropped into two games above 500, 18 and 16.
From May 4th on, they went 85-43, and then 11-2 in the playoffs.
I mean, in a 162-game season,
to be almost 500 by the time you get to the beginning of May,
and then rattle off those kinds of...
That's not luck. That is, that's pushing all the right buttons,
the right players, the right group of guys.
I mean, that means they finished 96 and 45 for May 4th on, Craig.
That's just bonkers how good that is.
And they had to go through what is arguably the.
I don't think there's any question that the National League
was heads and tails above the American League this year.
I don't even think it's close.
It wasn't like their schedule.
And they had to go through the likes of the Dodgers and the Braves
and everybody else that was favored.
What do you think their odds were on May 4th to win the World Series?
Yeah, they weren't even the favorite going into the playoffs.
Not even close.
Probably third or fourth best odds.
You know, what's interesting is that.
I remember thinking, I still did not think Milwaukee,
but I want to be clear about this.
I did not think the Brewers would win the World Series.
No way, shape, or form even going into the postseason.
I didn't think so.
But I remember doing the show with you,
and I remember coming back off when the Brewers played the Marlins.
And I remember sitting here with you saying, you know something,
I don't know how anyone's going to beat them with the 7, 8, and 9
that they're throwing out there with this Ashby and Uribe and McGill.
And I remember watching that, thinking to myself, like,
That's the best combination that I've seen in baseball.
I didn't realize how deadly it would end up being
at the end of the season,
but they basically didn't have a blip the entire way through.
And you can give the MVP to Contreras or Pratt, Vizarowski.
You can say that the bottom of their lineup, David Hamilton,
came through in a big way.
But the reason why the Brewers were World Series champions
was because Uribe and Ashby and McGill were untouchable
throughout the postseason.
And you can't give it to three and maybe if we went back to the 80s,
we would just say that guy's name was Goose Gossage or Dennis Eckersley
because that guy would just pitch two or three innings every night.
They don't do that anymore. So the fact
that you pitch one guy every inning takes away from any MVP votes.
But if I was to give the MVP to a group.
Easy one, Joe.
It's those three guys throughout the playoffs.
They were untouchable.
And it wasn't like they avoided the injury, but Yelich missed time.
Churrio missed time.
They didn't even have Quinn Priester.
Like, he got lost, I think, in spring training.
He was shelved.
