The 28th of October will go down in Milwaukee history
as the day that the Brewers finally
won their first World Series title,
and I gotta say, you know, we don't always say it.
But it feels like
the best team pretty much all year long won themselves a championship.
Not like that in every sport every year,
but I think the Brewers safely can be crowned.
You didn't get hot in a month and run the table.
They were pretty much the best,
whether we wanted to see it or not, throughout the entire season.
Well, you'll get no argument from me on that one.
I think that that's accurate.
You know, you could have said last year if the Blue Jays won
that the best team didn't win, but the hottest team won
because the Blue Jays got hot at the end of the season
and were within inches of winning the World Series.
You could say the year the Texas Rangers won the World Series
over the Arizona Diamondbacks a few years ago
that what the heck happened that season?
How did that World Series even happen
where those two teams just caught fire at the end of the season?
But, Joe, you just said it.
The Brewers, from start to finish, were baseball's best team.
And, you know, one could make the case the Rays
were baseball's second-best team, and just look how Milwaukee more
or less dismantled Tampa Bay in this series.
The only win that the Rays had was a comeback 12th-inning walk-off win.
I mean, other than that,
the Brewers dominated every game of the postseason, more or less.
I mean, yeah, there's a couple of close games in there, but...
All the credit goes to them.
Just great scouting, great development, great drafting,
great managing, great players, great bullpen.
And yeah, like, you know, the conversations every time a team
wins a championship, we always want to start that.
Oh, is this the beginning of a dynasty?
Well, of course it's not the beginning.
There are no dynasties in sports anymore.
But you would expect Milwaukee to be in a similar situation next season
where they are competing once again for 90 wins, 100 wins,
competing in the postseason.
Because they have the secret sauce that very few teams have
in the big leagues where they're able to use analytics,
but also use some of the other old school methods in order to get
the job done, such as pushing guys over from here to there.
We got a hot rookie at the end of the season, of course, Cooper Pratt.
That didn't hurt.
Chorio had a good series.
He's Contreras.
With the, yeah, Contreras, am I getting the catcher's name right here?
William Contreras, yeah.
Let's get it.
Okay, he was the MVP, and Misurawski was not the MVP,
but you knew the Brewers were going to win after he,
even though he was hurt, he came out.
Five innings, you're like, all right, that's it.
Like, he's on tonight, so.
Yeah, Joe, I mean, I don't have much more to add than you said.
You sort of summed it up.
It was the best team from beginning to end.
What are we going to make of this?
There's nothing else to make of it.
It's true.
Well, and it's funny because everything that I've read.
Their farm system is one of the tops in Major League Baseball,
so they've got a lot of young
guys on this roster as it is that are coming up.
Who knows what the salary cap may or may not be,
but for the most part, it feels like this
Brewers team has been built
and is set up no matter what happens from that.
They're going to be in the conversation next year without a doubt
and should be as defending champions.
Not like this team is going to go anywhere.
Now, we saw Toronto, to your point, a year ago,
they got hot at the right time, came just so close and fell short.
But this year, they were a disaster.
I don't see that happening with this Brewers team.
And the other thing, too, is that you always want to look at a team,
and it always starts with pitching.
And there's nothing against Trey Savage last season, but Joe sort
of came out of nowhere a little bit and dominated in the postseason.
And then, you know, his season this year was,
I mean, he was hurt, he was pitching a little bit.
But Misurawski is an ace, okay?
Misurawski is the Cy Young Award winner, and he's coming back.
So you start there, and then you can kind of fill everything else.
Because they're pitching, you know that they have a factory there.
It doesn't matter who comes up and pitches.
Is there two, three, four, or five?
The guy pitches well.
You know their bullpen is set, too.
And then they'll piece together the offense like they always do.
And they'll find young guys to come up.
I believe they have the number one prospect in all of baseball as well.
Jesus Made, M-A-D-E is his name, I think.
Actually, that's his name.
But I think I believe he's number one in all of baseball.
Number one prospect.
He's on Milwaukee in all of baseball.
So, yeah, they're in really good shape.
We didn't even see Lara, the other outfielder,
play a lot in this series.
He played a lot in the NLCS.
He didn't even play in the World Series.
Another good outfielder.
So, yeah, they're built to win,
but they do have to catch lightning in a bottle, I think,
to win a World Series like this.
They did get hot at the end of the season, like super hot at the end,
and that's going to be required if you don't have
the slug that some of the other teams do,
like Philadelphia, like Atlanta, like the Mets, like the Dodgers.
Well, the Mets, hypothetically, but Yankees,
the Red Sox, they don't have those home run hitters,
but they station to station work for them, opportune times.
Making the right calls.
Certainly, everyone feels like they got the right manager there, Joe.
I don't think it's hard to argue against that.
And so, yeah, will they be back next season?
Sure.
But to guarantee a World Series
or anything like that, I can't go that far.
But playoffs?
Absolutely.
I would predict that.
