From Fox 5, it's time for a good night, New York.
Does that work?
Good evening, I'm Crystal Young.
And I'm Ryan Christopher.
Welcome here to Good Night, New York.
Hopefully you had a nice day today.
We have an amazing show coming up tonight.
We're going to be talking to one of the stars of Street Fighter.
Yes!
Mel Jarnson.
She's incredible.
So watch out.
Keep those heels ready in case you get a...
Oh, no, I got moves.
Oh, I know you got moves.
I know.
I got moves.
And you got style for miles.
All the things.
I like your outfit today.
Thank you.
Someone called me, where's Waldo?
No, you look beautiful.
But Waldo's kind of cool.
But we know where Crystal is.
Like, there's no, you know, where is Crystal?
Okay, I'm not lost?
No, you're not searching for me?
No, you're not lost, but you are found.
I was thinking, like, candy cane vibes?
Oh, yes.
A little early Christmas.
You got the green.
But the shoes, though, are like, could we show up?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, this is like, you know, Wizard of Oz right here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Is this legal?
Is this an HR issue right now?
I don't know.
Okay.
It might be, okay.
Is this an HR issue?
I don't know.
No, not at all.
Let's wait.
Rosalyn?
Yeah.
No word yet.
No?
Okay, good.
We're good.
Okay, all right.
Perfect.
All good then.
Rosalyn, she's the head of HR.
Yes, just to clarify.
Why do I want to sit like this suddenly?
You know why?
Why?
Because you're a real New Yorker, Crystal.
That's why.
You know what I mean?
Yep.
I do know what you mean.
All right, that's it.
Okay, let's talk about this next story, shall we?
Let's do it.
No, I'm kidding.
So there's this video that came out.
We love to dance on Good Night, New York, as you all know.
But there's new scientific research from...
Northumbria University.
Have you ever heard of that university?
I have never heard of that university.
I haven't either.
It sounds so made up.
It sounds so fake and so does this video
because I saw this video like 10 years ago.
I don't know why it's circulating now
like it's a new thing.
Are you sure?
I'm telling you, Crystal, I've seen this video
because it's obviously...
Modeled after me, because this is how I dance.
You know what I'm saying?
So they find that women find men's dance moves the most attractive
when they feature large, varied movements of the neck and torso
combined with rhythmic, energetic use of the upper body
and faster, twisting movements of the right knee.
Come on, what are we talking about here?
Okay, this is insane.
If you dance like that, I would leave you on the dance floor
and go, I don't know, get some more shrimp cocktail,
another drink, hide in the bathroom, maybe find a new date.
No, this is, oh Lord, no.
This is so...
Oh, it's in England.
Northumbria, too.
This is so not cool.
You know what kind of dancing I like?
What?
I like, like, the Jalen Brunson.
Remember him?
Oh, yeah, where he just...
Remember him?
Where he just did, like, the little, like...
The little sum-sum.
Like, he was barely moving.
I got it going on.
Less is more, right?
That's exactly right.
I feel like any guy, like, you can't go
wrong with, like, a little two-step.
You just got to have a little rhythm.
You don't have to move a lot.
Right, right, right, right, right.
You know, move your hips, move your shoulders
a little bit, then you're good to go.
Do I look like that guy, like the stick figure right now?
Oh, you kind of do.
Like, what were those moves, by the way?
The stick figure was green.
He was like, like, you ain't getting any tonight, bro.
Like, let's be real.
Wow.
Because Ryan knows.
I'm certainly not getting any tonight.
Ryan is the king of getting some.
Oh, yeah.
I was going to say.
Maybe nine months ago, Crystal, but...
Not now?
Yeah, certainly not.
Okay, but earlier this week,
it was officially announced that Jay-Z, Hova, is going to be
the headliner for Super Bowl 61, the halftime show.
Roc Nation, his company, is the one who selects the artists.
Some people think it's a little crazy that Jay selected himself.
Others, he's one of the goats.
So, you know, he's a legend in his own right.
But there he is.
They put out this video.
And there's a particular number of goats in that video, Crystal.
Yes, in the commercial, there were 11 goats that appeared.
So now you know that the word goat
also is an acronym for the greatest of all time.
So maybe that is a hint that there's going
to be 11 guests that could appear.
But hypothetically, if there were to be 11 people on stage,
we assume Beyonce would be one.
Right.
That's obvious.
So we have our list of other people
that Hova could potentially bring out for the halftime show.
Crystal, you're up first.
Here's Crystal's top five of potential co-headliners.
Right.
In no particular order, Rihanna.
I mean, he kind of found her, shaped her.
And she already performed
at the Super Bowl halftime show a few years ago.
She was pregnant.
So she knows what she's doing.
Okay.
Snoop Dogg.
Who also just performed at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Kendrick.
Who just performed at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Nas.
Who has not, but he did have beef with Jay-Z
and then he squashed it, so that would be
cool.
100%.
Two hip-hop goats.
He's from Queens and he's definitely a goat.
And Eminem.
Who also just performed at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Okay.
Can we get somebody new?
Can we get Drake up there?
Let's see your list.
No, we cannot get Drake up there.
Why not?
Because he's someplace wine.
No, but no, listen, Drake and Jay-Z are beefing right now.
That's what I'm trying to say.
Okay, how about this?
Okay.
New York State of Mind, Alicia Keys.
That's a freaking loop.
That would be so cool.
Cool.
Genius.
Right?
I like it. I like it.
Okay.
Swiss Beats.
Oh!
They've collaborated.
Oh, wait. What was our friend DJ D-Nice?
Remember, he opened the show at Yankee Stadium.
And he might be one
of the guest DJs, but we didn't put him on the list.
Also, Fat Joe and Jada Kiss.
Jada had a little beef with Jay back in the day, but it's all good now.
And they have their podcast, which is hilarious.
And they're still in New York. That would be cool.
And last but certainly not least, Pharrell
Williams, who's another collaborator.
And these are all people that he did bring out
on stage, minus Swiss Beats, at...
his Yankee Stadium show.
So anything's possible.
I think that we're going to get at least nine.
I don't know where I'm coming up with that.
We got a lot of those peeps.
Nine.
I think.
All of them?
Zero.
No, no.
I think it's going to be Jay the whole set.
I think he wants to prove a point to all
the other artists out there that he's the goat.
No.
I'm telling you.
I'm putting my money to no other guests.
Maybe Beyonce, but nobody else.
Okay.
Well, you're going to lose some money.
All right, well, let's put some money on it.
Let's put those red high heels on the line,
and then we'll see how you feel.
These red high heels are hashtag priceless.
Oh, that they are.
Okay, all right, fair enough.
If Ryan is wrong, he has to wear the high heels.
Okay, well, he's going to have to chop some toes off.
I mean, what size are your feet?
Twelve.
Oh.
How about you?
Oh, okay.
Maybe toes and a part of the heel.
I'm an eight and a half, so not too tiny.
Okay.
But I don't know if you're going to fit into these jammies.
But I can get you a red pair to fit you, boo.
Please do.
Okay.
Or maybe some boots.
Maybe those red boots from Kinky Boots.
Oh, Kinky Boots.
Yeah, that's not a Broadway anymore.
I already got those platform boots.
Okay, all right.
We'll get you a nice pair of stilettos.
I'm trying to have my feet look like a 10-pound sausage
in a 5-pound casing, you know what I'm saying?
Okay, you are going down later.
If y'all don't see Ryan no more,
you'll know I choked him in the commercial break.
I thought you were saying it in other ways, because you
were saying I don't get none.
So I thought, you know, I didn't know what was going down here.
But up next, Street Fighter debuted at number one
at the box office over the past few weeks.
We have one of the actresses joining us in studio.
She is so cool.
She is cool.
Her name is Mel Johnson.
She plays Cammy.
She's going to be right here on the couch with us
when Good Night, New York returns.
Let me see those heels.
Yeah.
Okay, so based on the iconic video game Street Fighter,
opened domestically at number one in the box office, number one.
That's right.
And it's currently out in theaters right now.
And there's so many stars in the film, including our next guest.
She plays the popular role of Cammy in the live-action film.
We welcome her to Good Night, New York, the one and only Mel Johnson.
Yes!
I love the Elvira shirt, too.
Yeah, let's go.
We love Elvira.
We love Elvira.
Perfect for Halloween.
Exactly.
But, I mean, this movie's taken over the world.
Yes.
How much fun was it for you to play this role?
And this isn't your first rodeo in the world of combat movies.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
No, it was so much fun.
It was too much fun.
It really was.
Like, you couldn't put a foot in the wrong place.
Kito is, like, such a genius director where he tricks you
into thinking that his ideas
are your ideas.
Oh, God.
This is good.
Yeah.
So he boosts your confidence up.
I need to know the genius director.
Yeah, yeah.
And then you're like, yeah, that was my idea.
I decided to go there and stand there.
And also, when I was just being myself,
he would roll the cameras.
And also, you were in Mortal Kombat before this film.
Yeah, I was.
But they killed me off, so obviously I went to Street Fighter.
Bye! Hi, Street Fighter! Hi!
So, are you a big gamer?
Because I assume if you're starring in two films...
Huge gamer. Huge gamer.
I love gaming so much.
It's my favorite thing to do in my free time.
It's the one thing that if I spend...
Weeks or months doing it,
I don't look back at that time and think, I went to a totally
different world, and I flew,
and I swung around, and I fought, and duh.
And we're talking about video games still, not street fighting.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Exactly.
We were explaining the Crystal Rocket League.
Oh, dude, Robin, this is so much fun.
It's so much fun.
We should play.
It sounds weird.
You would love it.
You're playing soccer in a car.
Like in a car.
You're driving this car, and you can drive on the walls.
You can drive on the ceilings.
It's a great game.
But what does it have to do with soccer?
Well, there's a big ball that you kick around.
It's like playing soccer with a car.
Come on.
She's like, but why?
Why not?
Exactly.
Yeah, that's the whole point.
Exactly.
All right, so let's talk about Street Fighter, though.
Yes.
And some of the stunts, because you got super physical for this movie.
So what was it like preparing for this role?
And then when you were on set, how physical did it get?
I mean, for me, Cammy is, like, super, like, disciplined badass,
so it was a lot of acting.
That's interesting.
But she actually doesn't fight that much in the movie.
She's alpha, so it's killer B.
Uh, Cammy, who is, like, a weapons expert at this point.
Got it.
And later, Cammy...
Mm-hmm.
Then she evolves a little bit.
Yeah, right, right.
Right?
But, uh, at this point, she's, you know, she's wielding weapons.
She's, like, slapping people around.
She's kicking some dudes in, like, the face.
It's honestly a really great, cathartic...
Sounds like Crystal on a Saturday night.
Yeah.
Wielding weapons and slapping people around.
If anything, they were like, can you slow down?
Eric, I have, like, a scene with Eric where
I don't think this is spoiling anything.
Like, I have to...
Um, and he was like, hey.
Like, after the first...
He was like, you got really close.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So they had to kind of like reel me in, if anything.
How about also being on set like the likes of 50 Cent?
Like, what?
What?
How cool is that?
Did you smack him around?
No.
No?
Okay.
Now?
No.
Like, you can't be normal around 50.
He's so awesome.
I hear he's really nice, though.
He's so charming.
He's so funny.
He's such a sweetie.
He's also, like, such a champion.
Like, he was so supportive and, like, you know,
like, pushing you to the front for the
photo and, like, making you feel beautiful.
And he honestly is, like, such...
a king and he's like such a girl's girl i feel like he's he's so cool
I like that.
That is good to hear.
But not normal at all.
Like, it's not normal to be on set.
You know, if I could be abnormal, like gazillionaire, I would be one.
Well, you're also from Jamaica, Queens.
Yes, absolutely.
Except for there's a lot less zeros in my bank account.
But you're more tired of being Chris, so come on.
Fitty.
Fitty.
I literally got Fitty.
Fitty got a share.
No, no.
He got Fitty's million.
I got Fitty.
Can we call Fitty?
No, I got Fitty.
He's 50, and then it's between 49 and 51.
No, no, he is.
I have $50 in my bank.
Before you go, let's talk about you in Empire City,
opposite Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell.
Yes, and Omari Hardwick.
Omari, yeah.
It was so much fun.
I just really wanted to ruin a scene,
kick someone and go, this is Sparta.
No, no, no.
You love slapping people around, don't you?
Well, because Gerard Butler is there.
No, no, no, with 300, that's so cool.
Kick somebody into a hole.
Oh, I really wanted to do that, but it wasn't meant to be.
It didn't make the final take, understandably.
Fair enough.
But it's surreal.
I grew up watching Hayley, and she is so unbelievable in real life,
genuinely ethereal.
It's not real.
and so talented and it was like actually just like
a lot of the time just like peeping
watching them working together because they're
so and Omari is a freak of nature he is and you look
into his eyes and you disappear into this oh yeah we're doing
this okay and also you don't hear
anything he's saying because he's yeah yeah yeah yeah what
are we doing right now right um but no
it was it was so much fun it was congrats
on that and of course street fighter you can check it out
Check it out right now in theaters, check out Melvin Johnson.
Doing big things right here.
And maybe for the sequel, we'll get you back on.
Yes, you know where we are.
That's right.
Because you know Kami's going to be kicking some butt.
Maybe she'll be wearing green.
Oh, teaser?
Okay.
Oh, okay.
All right, we're going to have more
Good Night, New York when we return,
including everybody from the city purchasing tons of Knicks gear.
So we're going to be celebrating with a luxury travel brand,
and he's a Queens boy.
Oh, yes, we will have a Queens boy entrepreneur.
He's a musician.
He's all the things when Good Night, New York returns.
Go New York, go New York, go!
Go New York, go New York, go!
You can never run out of time.
Enough Knicks merch, especially after winning
their first championship in 53 years.
From hats to hoodies, you might have it all.
Knicks in five.
But do you have these cool bags
from our boy Mars right here from Queens?
You do not.
You do not have it all.
We are telling you tonight you don't
have it all, but you could have it all.
So we have a man who has made custom luxury travel bags
in Knicks colors.
Here to tell us more about it is Queens native Marcellus.
Brown, Marcellus is also known as Fat Guy Mars.
Thank you.
Mars, welcome to Good Night New York.
I appreciate it.
Thank you for having me, guys.
Thank you so much for your time.
So listen, Crystal, this is one of the crazy dudes
that was up at like 5 in the morning
showing up for those Knicks watch parties
right here on Fox 5.
I love it.
And so he showed lots of love.
But then you started making these custom bags,
not just for fans, for Spike Lee.
Yeah.
Okay.
Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart.
Makes sense.
They all have them.
Makes sense.
Okay, so what was the idea behind it?
Because a lot of people have a great idea, but they don't really.
Act on it.
So, what was that idea behind, I got to do this?
So, basically, I've known
the company Tote & Carry since, like, 2017, 2018.
I was one of their, like, first models for the brand.
Okay.
And so, every time I travel ever since then,
I've always had a Tote & Carry bag.
Okay.
And I always get compliments on them whenever I'm in the airport.
So, when it was the second round of the playoffs we were about to win,
I said, you know what?
We need a Knicks bag.
We need a Knicks bag.
I reached out to the CEO,
Tony Ray. I said, yo, bro, when the Knicks
win the chip, which I had a great feeling we were,
I said, we need a Knicks bag. He had me
pull up to the office the next day and we started working
on them. Just ready
in time for when we won the championship.
I like it. And I feel like
these are conversation starters. Like, if I
saw someone with this, I would be like, okay,
I need info. Let's start. Where'd you
get it from? Like, this would start a conversation.
That happens with me everywhere I go.
You mentioned being a model for this company,
Little Birdie tells us you were in this very
studio way back in the day, Crystal.
Yes.
Remember that?
Yes.
And what were you doing?
Look at you.
Because you were a Knicks kid?
Yes.
Back in 2008.
Oh wow.
We showed the picture.
Got him.
Yes.
08, 09 season.
That's me with the Knicks.
Right in the middle, right?
Yes, yes.
Wow.
With the sweater and the jacket on.
That's little Mars.
Yeah, that's young Mars right there.
But yeah, I danced for the Knicks City Kids, you know,
in Madison Square Garden in front of thousands of people.
At the Mecca, it was truly a blessing
to get that opportunity.
I did one season, and I did two seasons
with the New York Liberty at the time
when they were at the Garden.
So I did Lil' Torches and KCK.
Shout-outs to KCK.
Shout-outs to the whole Knicks fam and organization.
Lots of love.
Now, you've been a lifelong fan,
so how cool is it for you to now be able
to gift these to Knicks players,
legends like Spike Lee?
How does that make you feel,
and what are those interactions like?
It's the biggest blessing.
It's, like, surreal, pretty much.
Like, when you do something like this,
you automatically think about,
I want to get the bag, so like Spike Lee,
I want to get it to Jalen Brunson.
So you think about those things.
So I envisioned it, manifested it, and I made it happen.
I went viral, and this is how it happened with Spike Lee.
He reached out to me on Instagram.
He DM'd me, and then he tapped in.
He was like, yo, this is Spike.
Like, you know, because I was like, okay, he wants the bags.
Right, right, right.
He video called me on Instagram.
We spoke, and we set up a date for me to meet up with him.
And that's how it happened.
I like that.
And I thought Crystal was tight with Spike.
100%.
But Spike is genuine.
He really does love Knicks merch.
He's a New Yorker through and through.
He's a real one.
It just makes sense that he would carry one of these bags,
like, probably.
Yes, for real.
He's a real one.
And so he helped me get the bags to Jalen Brunson.
I had met with Josh Hart previously before that,
did a commercial with him, so Josh Hart
already had the bags, but...
He helped me bring the bags over to Jalen Brunson
at the Roommates podcast.
Yes, yes.
Now, which one did Jalen like?
Is there one that's more popular?
I gave them the blue, you know what I mean?
The blue, the championship travel set.
I gave him those, you know what I'm saying?
It is hot.
If our viewers want to order some of these,
where can they do so?
Online?
Do you have to get it in person?
Online, online.
TotemCarry.com.
Guys, check it out.
Towandcarry.com.
Check it out.
Towandcarry.com.
New York Knicks championship travel sets.
Let's go.
Now,
how are you going to celebrate when they win another chip this year?
Oh, yeah.
We're going to run it back.
We're going to run it back.
That's right.
Knicks in five.
Go, New York.
Go, New York.
Go New York.
Go, New York.
Go, New York.
It is time for another edition of Good Night, Good Picks
with Fox 5 sports producer Lou Alvarez
with the biggest mouth in New York City.
And also made every bad pick there is.
I was going to say, he was the biggest loser last week.
He was 0-3. Goose egg.
Good night, bad picks.
I was 0-3.
I was a bad, that was a bad pick.
No, no, you're going to redeem yourself.
Oh, I can't redeem myself.
I can't redeem myself.
All right, well, this week, there's hope this week.
We're going to try our best here.
Crystal's overall record.
Are you 500 now?
Are you 10 and 10?
I'm just, whatever sucks.
Yeah.
No, no, listen, you're 500.
No, no, she's coming in hot on you.
I know she is.
That's my thing.
I feel like I'm rooting for Crystal now.
Bad picks.
Okay, all right.
Here we go.
I'm breathing down your neck.
Oh, yeah, I can feel it.
Watch out.
All right, this week,
Very important games.
We've got some local teams playing.
You've got the Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders,
but they're playing at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The Jets are 2-5.
The Raiders, they've lost four straight games,
but there's a potential quarterback change this week.
I'm putting my money, lack thereof, on the Las Vegas Raiders.
Fernando Mendoza, he's going to come off the bench.
He's going to do big things.
All right.
I first picked the Jets.
Yeah.
And then I changed my mind.
Okay.
A little person said I couldn't do it.
I did it.
And I know it's going to happen.
I'm going to pick the Raiders, and the Jets are going to win.
And I'm going to go with the Jets.
All right.
Listen, it's got to be a certain point.
Can we get a certain point in this show?
At a certain point when the Jets fall completely out of it,
do we not have to pick them anymore?
Yes.
Do we not have to pick them anymore?
It's going to happen.
Oh, I'm saying yes, Moses is saying no.
I don't know why we have to keep bringing these losers up every time.
Okay, all right.
Well, I'm rolling with a potential loser.
I pick the Jets.
We'll see.
The Jets?
We'll see.
And you and Lou are picking the Raiders.
You and Lou are picking the Raiders.
That's what's going to happen.
She's going to catch me before they change my mind.
I know it's going to happen.
We'll have to wait and find out.
All right, also we've got the Baltimore Ravens.
They're 4-3 against the Buffalo Bills, New York's team.
They're 5-1 right now in Buffalo.
It's a home game Sunday, 1 p.m.
I'm going to go with Buffalo right here.
They've got Josh Allen under center,
Lamar Jackson, the QB for Baltimore.
He's sort of wishy-washy in terms of his comeback.
I think he's going to play,
but we're not sure how much he's going to play.
I've got to go with Buffalo.
Buffalo's defense is shaky, but I still
think they're the better team at home.
Thank you.
Lamar always scares me.
I'm a big Josh Allen guy.
How about you, Crystal?
I think I picked the Bills.
Because I went to school upstate.
That was my rationale.
There you go.
I always have the same reasons.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Totally makes sense to me.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, for the love of Lake Effect snow.
People make millions of dollars picking a mascot
and winning like a million dollars.
You're in the wrong industry.
No, no.
Because they like the mascot.
I like cute tight ends and nice uniforms and,
you know, things like that.
How about wide receivers?
Oh.
That's it. That's a whole other story. OK, let's talk about it.
Right. The Philadelphia Eagles at the Washington Commanders.
This is Sunday at 8:20. So it's a night game on Sunday. OK.
The Eagles are two and five. Washington is one, four and one.
That tie was with the Giants. Right. But I don't know.
Washington, they have a good quarterback,
but he's like 0 and 6 in his last six starts.
I'm going Washington just because we can't keep picking Philly.
It's like the arch nemesis of New York.
Philly is a disaster.
I hate that coach.
Nick Sirianni's got to be fired.
Wait, but didn't he win a Super Bowl with them?
Yes, he did.
And he could take his little trophy and go home.
Oh, shoot.
Because he's horrible.
Culture shock.
Don't hold back.
All right.
Tell us how you really feel.
So I got Washington.
Okay.
Okay.
The Eagles need to fly away.
So I'm going with the Commanders.
Yeah, we are.
Let's go to the Eagles.
Philly, go eat a cheesesteak.
We're going in with the Commanders.
I can feel it.
You know what's going to happen.
We're going to get all our rights because we all picked.
And then the Raiders, they're just going to be the Raiders.
And they're going to be beating me on a tiebreaker.
I know.
And watch, Philly's definitely going to win.
I mean, we just picked a team that's one and four.
I know.
That's all I need to know.
That's a gamble right there.
But anyways, those are gambles.
That's how we roll.
We're high rollers.
You got to know one another.
We're high rollers all the way.
That's it, baby.
We're on the bird.
Yeah, we don't play the thing.
So much fun here tonight on the show.
So little time, but we got to go, but we'll be back.
At some point.
Yeah.
Maybe.
Well, I don't know.
Check in tomorrow, but hopefully you guys have a great night.
Thanks so much for hanging out with us for now.
I'm Ryan Christopher.
And I'm Crystal Young.
Please make it up.
Good night, New York.
Let's get it, Crystal.
Okay.
Come on.
