Calling all ghouls and goblins, there is one St. Pete neighborhood you
are going to want to hit up on Halloween.
The spooky season magic is meeting historic charm
in the Old Northeast neighborhood.
Fox 13 photojournalist Cody Bergquist gives us an inside look.
Moved in here in 2020 and we were told by our neighbors,
get ready for Halloween because it's a big production here.
This is Old Northeast in St. Petersburg.
Old Northeast.
In August I ordered candy in bulk
and right now I've got a little over 4,000 pieces and last year
I went through those 4,000 pieces giving two,
three pieces of candy out per person.
Really, I think it's more of being working with the kids
and letting their imaginations do things.
The creativity in their own mind
and how you're filling in, I guess,
the fantasy of what they're doing.
Our theme is basically literature and movies.
Some other themes are aliens or Harry Potter.
Certain streets have certain themes about themselves.
Some are family-oriented or some are gore.
We started off with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
and we morphed into our current theme of Lord of the Rings.
The Old Northeast Association or HONA celebrates this and they kind
of go around and also kind of give out prizes for best decorations,
new themes, old themes.
Anybody's even thinking of coming out, I mean you got
to kind of come out a little early and I would say almost
the three o'clock, four o'clock on to six is like
when the little kids can come out and then as the sun is down
that's the older group, but by nine, ten o'clock
it's pretty much done and it kind of brings the family out together
and how they celebrate either in their costumes or just a happy
spirit of a fortune and gratitude that they have.
I have.
Well, they start the fun nice and early. I love it.
Now, there are several events outside of trick
or treating tomorrow at 10 o'clock. They are having a come
as you aren't Halloween porch party along 18th Avenue.
