Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened and a bunch of businesses in St. Pete.
Well, they have a lot to smile about because the World Series
and the Rays didn't get the title they were hoping for.
But many of these businesses are celebrating a major economic win
and nowhere was business booming quite like Ferg Sports Bar
and Grill right across from the Trop downtown St. Pete.
And that's where we find our own Fox Sports Blake Divine.
Blake, I'm wondering, do you have a cot there at this point?
And how much money did they rake in?
Mark, I practically sleep here at this point,
but all jokes aside, I spoke to the owner of Ferg's tonight.
He said they made over $1.2 million over the last three days.
And while the baseball season has come to a close, he says
this World Series was a home run for his business all week long.
This place was packed with people.
Brewers fans coming from Milwaukee,
Rays fans supporting the hometown team, and it was all...
Rocking and rolling for games three,
four, and five of the Fall Classic.
The numbers staggering.
Get this, over 84,000 beers and seltzers sold.
Miller Lite and Coors Lite among the fan favorites,
thanks in large part to the visiting Milwaukee crowd.
That's not all, though,
as 45,000 chicken wings and 3,800 burgers were bought at the bar.
And after 34 years in business,
owner Mark Ferguson says he's never seen anything like this.
It was the busiest three days we ever had at Ferg Sports Bar.
We did three days of business,
we did a month and a half worth of numbers.
And we'll be on the map forever because of the World Series.
And the longtime local says Ferg's is on pace to bring
in nearly four million dollars this October alone.
That's about three months worth of business.
Four food trucks were also on site for the past three nights.
Ferguson says business was so good the food truck operators
joked about taking a month off of work after this week.
And while this place looks
a lot different tonight compared to the last three nights,
his staff is getting geared up for a busy weekend filled with football
and Halloween coming up on Saturday.
Yeah, there's no time for taking off.
We got hockey.
We got pro football.
We're still in the midst of college football.
Blake, and then there's music, I know.
That's one of the secret weapons that Mark Ferguson
and his team have with that stage.
They're bringing in all sorts of acts.
So they're probably going to be okay, I'm sure,
once the Rays do move to Tampa in 2029.
But what did he tell you?
What's next for Ferguson?
Ferg's there. Yes, well,
he assured me that this St. Pete staple is here to stay. It's not going
anywhere. However, he
and his team are exploring the possibility of adding a possible second
location in Tampa once that new ballpark is built
and has that stadium up and running in 2029. So
there could be a second Ferg's location.
We'll have to see. Mark. Well, hopefully the developers
do make some room for him because
if anybody deserves a spot with all he's
been through and all the patience he has shown over
the years, it would be Ferguson and his team.
Blake Devine, live there at Ferg's. Thanks much.
