And Chuck, when you see a team like Indiana,
you and I know growing up, Indiana was one
of the worst programs in college football history.
You get the right guy
and you spend the right money on the right people.
You can make this thing happen.
Let me ask you this.
Do you buy the argument that if we go
to a 2014 playoff conferences are meaningless now?
No, no, no, no.
I still think that you have to, again, I think, well, you know.
Let me give you an example.
why should Ohio State share revenue
with Minnesota they shouldn't they should but then we're talking
like they look at Notre Dame
and they're like yeah i know yes exactly what we're talking about
okay so then we're talking about something like
the Premier League where you're going to take the
top 60 football programs Chuck
and you're going to put them in one league and have like it's going
to be the Premier League
and then you're going to have a smaller league with say San Diego State
some of the other programs like TCU
so if that's where you think you're going here
the television networks have a lot to do with that too
is that what they want i look i am you
look you and i neither one of us are are work for one
of the two major television networks that are
controlling this so i think we can speak freely here right um guess
who doesn't want competition
for dollars in college football media rights, ESPN and Fox, right?
You got it.
The irony is if college football television rights
were negotiated the way the NFL
negotiates television rights, first of all,
there'd be more money to the universities.
It would cost ESPN and Fox more money.
And by the way, more networks would end up getting
smaller pieces of college football, just like we see with the NFL.
ESPN and Fox want their
monopoly. And the only way they get to keep
their monopoly is that they make the conferences matter
more and let the conferences decide how this works.
They're the ones that created this Protect
Sports Business Act.
