Well, Lauren, although there is no connection between both
of these incidents, there are a lot of questions
surrounding what exactly led up to both of these shootings.
We did do some digging, and we found that the man who was shot
and killed in Dixmoor just this morning has quite the criminal history
and had ties to rapper Bloodhound Q50, who was recently gunned down.
So we will start in Dixmoor.
This was a fatal shooting involving federal agents near 145th
and Cooper Avenue.
It happened during a court authorized
law enforcement activity this morning.
The man killed has been identified
by family as 22 year old Chadwick Clark.
Court documents revealed Clark was sentenced
to three years in Illinois prison after being
convicted of failing to report an incident involving injury.
He also faces an Indiana
armed robbery charge stemming
from an October 2024 gas station incident in which investigators
alleged he threatened a customer with a firearm and stole some chains.
Clark also goes by the
rap handle Lil Wick.
Lil Wick has appeared in multiple songs and videos with Bloodhound Q50.
He's the Chicago rapper who was gunned down in a hail
of bullets at a gas station just last month.
This marks at least four Bloodhound rappers
who died violently in the past three years. Clark
did post this Instagram video of him smoking
and rapping at around 4:30 this morning.
This was about two and a half hours before he was shot
and killed by federal agents.
As we know, the feds have not revealed what exactly
that warrant being served was for.
Bloodhound Q50 has rap lyrics about committing fraud
and posted this screenshot about potential
suspicious bank activity hours before his death.
As we know, the FBI handles bank fraud conspiracy cases.
We did speak with Clark's sister just this morning.
She says Clark was shot while inside an attic.
He wasn't an angel. I'm not going to say he wasn't an angel.
He was just trying to get his life together.
He just did almost two years in jail.
So he came home trying to take care of his daughter.
If he was hiding, and he didn't have no weapons on him,
he didn't have anything on him,
so why did they shoot him?
What was the threat? What was the reason of them doing that to him?
I don't understand.
The first shooting happened just
this Monday near 18th and Union Avenue in Pilsen.
The FBI says an off-duty agent
was driving home in a bureau-issued vehicle
when they saw a man allegedly firing a gun into a homeless encampment.
The agent then opened fire, killing 27-year-old Oscar Isaias Corrales.
The FBI says he was from Venezuela and had been taken into custody
at the southern border in 2023 before being released.
Today, 25th Ward Alderman ByronSanchez Lopez
is calling on the Illinois Attorney General's
Office and the Cook County State's Attorney
to conduct an independent investigation.
He says there are still many unanswered questions
about what exactly led up to the shooting,
including how evidence was handled.
We cannot take the FBI at face value.
I have my very big concerns about
who is in charge of the FBI and the inconsistencies
in that department.
I do believe that it's important that we
do not allow this evidence to be cleared out.
The cabinet was completely cleared out the following day.
We need to protect the evidence.
We need to protect witnesses.
We need to make sure that we conduct our own investigations,
especially when there's such inconsistencies and gaps.
We did reach out
to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office on this matter.
They tell us they do not conduct their own investigations.
Instead, they review all the evidence
that has been gathered by law enforcement.
And then they decide whether to file charges at this time.
Both of those shootings are still under investigation.
Police and officials have not released any information or
details as to what exactly led up to both of these shootings, Lauren.
