Ukraine’s military has confirmed a strike on a production facility at the Energia plant in Yelets, in Russia’s Lipetsk region, which manufactures batteries for Iskander-M ballistic missiles and other weapons used by Russian forces. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said Ukrainian Defence Forces struck a workshop producing power supply components for Russian weapons on October 25 and during the night of October 26. A fire broke out on the plant’s premises following the attack, according to the statement. The General Staff described Energia as Russia’s only manufacturer of batteries for guidance and correction modules used in aerial bombs. The facility also produces batteries for Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems and sea-launched cruise missiles. Ukraine’s military also confirmed the destruction of the main microchip production workshop at the Proton-Electrotex enterprise in Oryol, in Russia’s Oryol region, following a strike on October 23. The attack also damaged a building and servers at the facility. The General Staff said the damage would hamper Russia’s production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles used in attacks on Ukrainian cities. Meanwhile, a strike on the Togliattikauchuk industrial plant in Tolyatti, Samara region, on October 24 damaged a process pipeline and two units used to produce butyl rubber, according to the Ukrainian military. The General Staff said the damage would disrupt the production chain for solid rocket fuel used in tactical and ballistic missiles. Separately, drones struck a chemical plant in Voronezh during the night of October 26, with explosions reported in several parts of the city. Social media reports suggested that the target may have been the Voronezhsintezkauchuk petrochemical plant, although this identification has not been independently confirmed. Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev said 113 unmanned aerial vehicles had been intercepted or destroyed over the region overnight, including 70 allegedly over Voronezh itself.
