39 days left in the hurricane season,
and here we are at the end of the season, or the tail end,
and we actually have some areas to watch.
First up is Tropical Storm or Subtropical Storm Josephine.
I was showing this yesterday. That was at Invest 93.
We're talking about it has that possibility
of maybe becoming a subtropical system.
All that really tells us is it's not a purely tropical system.
It has some tropical characteristics.
It also has some non-tropical,
and it's all about how it is deriving its energy.
What is forcing this system in the atmosphere?
We also have another area that is a bit further out into the Atlantic,
a 10% chance of development with that.
If anything happens, that would more than likely become
a subtropical system as well.
Another area not highlighted by the Hurricane Center yet,
but it's down into the Caribbean.
You can see that flare-up of some convection.
Many of the computer models are indicating that some
of this is going to push on to the north, up into the Atlantic.
And as we head into the weekend, we might actually see something trying
to develop, say, just to the east of the Bahamas
and then moving up to the north and the northeast.
So here we are right towards the end of the season.
We've got lots of areas to watch.
First up is subtropical storm Josephine.
11 a.m. advisory winds are at 65 miles an hour moving
to the northeast at 12 miles an hour but
look at that forecast track as we go through time it actually becomes
an extra tropical system so
basically losing any of those uh tropical characteristics
but at the same time that
forcing in the atmosphere is actually going
to help to strengthen this system so it will have
hurricane force winds it's it's not a tropical system
but it has those hurricane force winds
extra tropical system so along the coastline some very rough surf
and some pretty gusty winds it
looks like it'll be far enough offshore
that they're not going to see hurricane force winds
but we could see some tropical storm force winds along the coastline
and then eventually it moves
out over open waters as we head into the latter part of the weekend
and into next week so another
area that we're watching i mentioned down across
the caribbean uh 20 percent chance once this pushes up
into the atlantic that maybe we see some additional development
with this you look at the
various computer models and right now things are quiet
but as we go through time we're looking at
the european the ai european and the gfs
and you're seeing that general idea of some lower
pressure. So we'll wait a
all comes about and devel
several days. But with th
to develop to our east, t
to help to increase the w
some windy weather here i
head through the weekend.
on the Fox weather model,
storm Josephine that is m
your attention down to th
to see more and more of t
out of the Caribbean, moving up into the Atlantic.
So that's that area that we will continue to focus
in and watch as we head through the weekend.
But it would be moving away from us. So we're not
concerned about this moving towards us.
It would be pushing up to the north and east. But we will
continue to watch it and we will keep you updated right here
on myfoxhurricane.com.
