Today we are about to turn our social media feed into food as we try
three more viral recipes to let you know which ones are worth it
We have a cheeseburger flavor dip that's perfect for game night
and kid friendly sweet potato crackers
and even a decadent dessert that's secretly healthy.
We take the time to test so you don't have to waste yours.
That's ahead on Dinner Digs. Welcome to the kitchen.
Okay, today we are scrolling our way to some sensational snacks.
13 social media maven, Amari Craft.
And you can find her kind of on Fox Local app,
kind of Florida for real.
You're flipping all over the place.
She does her thing with a weekly roundup of viral videos.
Now, both of your previous and Amari's previous visits
were two thumbs up for every recipe that we tried.
Now, will lightning strike a third time today?
I'm not sure, but I'm very hopeful.
I think you're going to like all three of these recipes.
Hopefully, you guys at home will as well.
Okay, it's going to be good.
First up, a Facebook find, cheeseburger dip?
Yes.
So there's a ton of variations of this online.
This one is from the folks at Oklahoma Joe Smokers,
and 35,000 hungry followers have watched this recipe,
which they describe as everything you love about a bacon cheeseburger
turned into the ultimate smoked queso.
So, of course, not everyone has access to a smoker at home,
so we're getting a little bit creative and subbing in some liquid smoke
to get that flavor in a regular oven.
So before the show, we browned some of this ground beef here and cooked
and chopped some bacon that we're going to use for this recipe.
All right.
So first up, we're going to whisk together
this Rotel with some yellow mustard.
All right, so I'll get it in here.
Yep, yep, there you go.
All right.
We're going to get that yellow mustard in there.
And then we're going to get some, I never know how to say this.
Y'all let me tell me how to say this.
Worcestershire sauce?
Worcestershire?
Worcestershire.
I call it W sauce.
Exactly.
That's the easiest thing to do.
Yeah.
So we'll throw that in there.
And then you can tell between the two
because this liquid smoke smells pretty strong.
And you just need a little drop of that, right?
You just need a little drop.
Okay.
All right.
I'm going to use this.
You can whisk this up.
Looking all good.
So once you're done with that, we're going to fill the disposable foil
pan that we have sitting over here and add some cubed Velveeta cheese.
Okay.
And let's put that there.
You know what I think of when I think of pan?
I think of, like, cookout.
Like, take this to someone's house.
This is the perfect, if you're celebrating any holidays,
this is the perfect thing to bring.
bring to someone's house. It's not going to take too much time.
I'll take this from you.
And cheeseburger goes on top.
No, Velveeta. Yes, Velveeta cheese is going to
go in there. Okay. There's nothing like
Velveeta. I know. Come on.
I love, love, love cheese.
And we're going to put three cheeses in here
today. Oh boy, you're so cheesy.
So we're going to add some
shredded cheddar and some pepper jack cheese to
that mix as well. Okay. Wow.
It's so colorful. I love all the colors
in this. I like when my food is actually pretty.
Agreed. Your plate is actually
a little pretty and it doesn't look too gross
or too unappetizing right we do eat with our eyes
first right there's something about pepper jack i just love just
a tiny bit of you know a little
spice a little something something
so now we're going to finally add that ground beef into the
mix okay slide this over to you okay it's kind
of heavy yeah it is something about a good pan
again meat and cheese yes this is comfort food
this is classic comfort food this reminds me of
some mac and cheese and some collard greens on a Sunday
so now we're gonna add some chopped bacon
and then we're gonna save some we have
a little bit saved over here okay garnish so we're gonna
put the chopped bacon
in there cheeseburger exactly you know i grew up on like hamburger
helper dare i say that like who didn't you know
and this is probably a little bit better than
going to mcdonald's and getting something right
so we're gonna add some of these dill pickles to
this mix as well because of course every good
cheeseburger has some pickles to go to yes okay
let's oh yeah this is gonna
be really really good I can't wait to get some
chips and dip oh my god now once you mix all
of that together okay you have to do
leave it uncovered you're gonna put it
in the oven we've been preheating the
oven so that way it's already
a little bit hot okay I think I did a good mixy
mixy too long this is only gonna take about 10 minutes
the ovens at 350 okay
and then you're gonna take it out stir it
a little bit put it in there for
another 10 to 15 minutes and then you're done
because the meat is cooked the
bacon's really melting the cheese not really cooking
anything. All right, so we go idea one putting that I can
take it. All right, it was heavy. I'll get the door.
It's going and we come back from cheese burgers to cheese
it's how a simple sweet potato can like let you go crazy in
the kitchen, creating your own simple snacks. It's all ahead
on dinner did today
is Fox 13 social
media expert Amari Crab
cheese here with us seeing if really third time
is a charm as she joins us for another taste
of those recipes that she's found viral videos okay
these are delicious now so we can just kind
of let you know whether it's worth working
in your kitchen all right here's a little recap before the
break we got ready for game night
by making oven baked smoked cheeseburger queso dip we started by
browning ground beef cooked in a little of that chopped bacon
then followed with Rotel yellow
mustard worcestershire sauce some liquid smoke kind
of like a secret ingredient so you know if
you don't have a smoker on standby
then add it to a sheet pan with cubed Velveeta some shredded cheese
some chopped dill pickles got that all
into the oven i think it's time to look see how to give
it a quick stir right now oh let's see we gotta check
on it oh it looks really good angie and it
smells good too so we're just gonna give it
a little stir gonna get some of that excess off
here put it back in something about melty cheese
and meat together oh i know yummy snackalicious
that's gonna be perfect for dipping or maybe just snacking
or just any time on their own but our
next recipe is a kid friendly cracker my niece
is gonna love this one i'm excited for this and i'm
not a kid so i know kids will be excited
this recipe uses sweet potatoes to make homemade
cheeses so it's a little bit healthier some creators pitch
these as toddler snacks but not
Denisha Brown who did this version
on her Instagram where she has over 24,000
followers. So we get to do some fun stuff here.
We're gonna make dough in our food
processor. So Angie, first up we're going
to add some flour to that food
processor. Okay. Dump that on in there.
And then we're gonna add some cornstarch.
Okay. Some cold butter. Okay. Garlic powder.
There you go. And then some smoked
paprika. Let's get all that goodness in there.
Wow. Some color. And then we're gonna
add some onion powder
and some salt okay salt yep okay now you're gonna put the
lid on there and then you're gonna pulse
it until it's crumbly okay all right
let's get it crumbly
then let's turn it on looks
good yeah so now you're going
to add some cheese
and then we'll pulse it again okay some good cheese
in here
Oh, yum.
Just cheese and pulse?
Yes, cheese and pulse.
All right, here we go.
Like a new song.
That'll go viral.
I know.
Pulsing that, we're gonna add a half cup
of cooked sweet potato.
Okay.
Make sure it's cooked.
You don't wanna add a lot of sweet potato in here.
You just bake it in the oven,
get it softened up a little bit.
So you're gonna add that,
and then you're gonna mix it in until the dough forms.
Okay.
Oh, that's yummy.
How cool.
Why not sneak some veg in there, right?
Exactly.
Kids are gonna think it's a pretty orange color.
They're not gonna know.
That's so true.
That's a little bit healthy.
And once you start pulsing that,
if it looks like it's not really combining properly,
you can add a little bit of water
to kind of get it to be a little bit more doughy.
Ooh, okay.
Just a touch.
We'll sprinkle the water, okay.
We will pulse that, make it look all pretty.
I love the color.
Love that.
Ooh, it looks crumbly, looks good.
So we have some TV magic.
Okay, of course.
We can leave that there.
We can finish that later.
We already have some that's been sitting.
So we made some pre-made dough.
Right.
Put it in the fridge.
Needs about 30 minutes to firm up.
Okay.
And now we get to do the fun part.
So I'm going to actually put on some gloves now, too.
Okay.
Let me get another one.
Because I'm going to get in there.
You're going to need parchment paper,
and you're going to put the pre-made dough in here.
Okay.
You're going to put it in between the two pieces of parchment paper.
And then you get to roll it out.
And you want it to be thin, obviously.
Fun.
Listen, adults, everyone is gonna love this.
All right, an eighth of an inch, is it?
Yes. Okay.
So you want it to be thin,
but you don't want it to be extremely thin
because then it's not gonna hold up.
Okay.
Me and Angie are gonna have a gun show after a while.
So we're gonna lift it up.
So pretty.
How cool is this?
All right, so now you're gonna use
your fluted pastry wheel to cut into one inch squares.
So kind of make it look like a cheese.
But frankly, that's fine. Exactly.
Okay.
down oh my goodness and you can kind of make it as thin
or thick as you want parchment paper
slides around a lot oh my goodness amara look
at this is this not fun this is so fun listen adult
arts and craft time has arrived okay
my dough over here is almost too doughy it's trying to
stick together once again angie makes hers gorgeous
and mine looks horrible this is why
i'm the social media guru right here let me let me see
if i can help you out the magic touch of
Angie, do you guys see this?
Mine looks like a toddler did make it, and hers looks gorgeous.
Stop.
All right.
But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter
because you're going to put it in the oven.
It's going to taste the same.
Now we get to make the little clothes.
We get to make the little clothes.
Oh, my goodness.
Stop it.
Oh, wow.
This is actually really fun.
This is satisfying.
It is very satisfying.
Put on some jazz music.
I was going to say Tupac or something, but you know what I'm saying?
I can get down with that, too.
A little drink.
It doesn't have to be jazz.
Right?
a little Beyonce. Oh, you had me at Beyonce. Wow.
Make that one long. Oh my goodness. The smell is
really cool. I'm going to make these little crazy ones
because that's going to be my. All right. So
now that we've poked holes,
we're going to sprinkle a little bit of salt.
Sprinkle it all over there.
Bam. Boom. Love it. Do a little salt bang.
I love this. We're going to bake these for 12 to 15
minutes at 325 degrees then we're going
to remove them separate them fully and then return them to
the oven for another 15 minutes how cool look
at that two ideas for dinner in the oven one more to
go and when we come back we'll see
how all these turn out yes ahead
on dinner divs okay ready we
are testing more viral video recipes today
with fox 13 social media expert my girl also from
florida for real host amari craft okay she's been scrolling her social
and she brings us three more
dishes and we're taste testing them to save you time in the kitchen
so so far we put together
oven baked smoked cheeseburger queso dip we
are about to dig in and taste but before the break
let me tell you what we did we made some sweet
potato Cheez-Its, you heard me, we combined flour
cornstarch cold butter garlic powder smoked paprika onion powder
and salt all in a food
processor pulsing it till it was crumbly
and adding a little of that shredded extra sharp
cheddar cheese, and then some sweet cooked potato.
Mixing it, made it in a dough, let it hang out for
a minute, maybe a little touch of water to give it
the right consistency. Then 30 minutes to chill
out in the fridge. We took it out,
rolled it between two sheets of parchment paper to about
like a 16th of an inch, or as thin
as you can get it without collapsing from exhaustion. And finally,
we used a fluted pastry wheel. Well, some of us did.
Anyway, ideally, the right way around to
Cut them into one-inch squares.
And then those cute little frilly edges.
Use a little chopstick to get the hole in the middle.
That's iconic.
Then we bake them.
And they are done.
They're done.
How do they look?
So we got them a little bit too brown.
Okay.
But that's okay.
That's okay.
We were busy babysitting the dip that we're going to try as well.
And it honestly doesn't matter that it's a little bit more brown.
So we're going to start off by putting the dip into that bowl
so we can get into it and try it.
Are you ready?
Oh, it looks so good.
Dip, baby. Very, very cheesy.
Oh, look at all that!
That dip.
All those different cheeses, that ground beef.
We're gonna add some bacon on top as a garnish.
Oh, my goodness. Look at this.
Okay. This is amazing. That looks so good.
This is a cheeseburger in a bowl right here.
It smells good. I know.
So you're adding some of that bacon as a garnish,
and then I'll come over on this side of you,
because I'm ready to get in with the dip.
Okay? All right. Let's dig in.
You ready? Okay.
not super hot i would make this for dinner i
think this is the best thing we've tried angie
that is game ready all right ready
for the verdict thumbs up or down three two one
and see that this is this is a winner oh
let me just get a little piece of bacon
this is look at that that is yummy it's
so substantial it's holding up on the cracker
the cheesy goodness this is like a cheeseburger
in a dish oh this is good oh oh man this is gonna
gonna be my favorite thing okay
that's really really good all right now it's time to taste
our toddler crackers or my toddler crackers
and andy's pretty good these are so great the fact
that we know what's in them didn't take long simple ingredients
a little pulse this is super
healthy for kids and for adults yeah i mean listen
they're still we all eating them i'm sure you can
eat way more of these than you can of you know
a chip that you get off the grocery aisle look at
this okay okay ready to dig in a little sea salt
on top they look exactly like cheeseburgers they didn't
taste like them. Okay, wait, uh, is this confusion it
is confusion, I think they're very similar, yes
they're not as crispy, maybe if we cooled them
a little bit more let them rest for a little bit
longer, obviously we're more on a time crunch
so they're a little bit more chewy than we'd like
but I do like pastries and that kind of doughy
not doughy, thick, uncooked, but I'll tell you what
What if we did a little dip, baby dip?
I'm down.
Listen, what's wrong with that
Let me take my shoe off and do a cheeseburger dip
That, that did it
Okay, thumbs up, down
Let's vote.
You ready?
Three, two, one.
I'm like 50-50
Of course.
Like, the dip is just...
But I think the dip is kind of carrying the cheese a little bit
But I tell you what, these are healthy.
I like the little taste.
I like the sea salt on them.
That touch of garlic adds a nice flavor
Not being overdone
Yeah
And they, yeah, they're almost crispy
I'll give it some points for being a family-friendly activity.
You can do it with the kids
Grandma and grandkid can be in the kitchen cooking together
Right.
It deserves a little bit of credit for that
I will say this is the winner for me, though.
All right.
Well, let's scoot over here and grab some more
Come on with us.
All right.
Take a little break here.
Don't go anywhere.
When we come back, how about a little dessert for dinner?
It's our final viral video
We have a sweet treat that's healthy.
Got it on the DL, too
We like that, but don't tell anyone.
but it's coming up after this quick little break
on Dinner Deal.
Tasting viral recipes today
so we can let you know which ones are worth making.
Ready today, we've made oven-baked smoked cheeseburger
queso dip, sweet potato Cheez-Its, all right?
And our verdict was, okay, two thumbs up on the dip
and one on the Cheez-Its.
You're a little iffy on the Cheez-Its.
Yeah, not bad at all.
Recipe today is a dessert.
All right, so our final viral dinner idea
comes from Arya Hamadani.
Hopefully I'm saying your name right.
He's a private chef and content creator
with 2 million followers on Instagram alone.
His motto is don't F it up.
This dessert is designed to give you
the sweet taste you're craving without all the calories.
His high-protein frozen berry yogurt bowls.
I'm excited for this.
I love fruit.
I love yogurt.
So first up, in a mixing bowl, we're going to combine this yogurt.
All right.
So we'll put this in there.
until the whole tub.
The whole tub.
All right.
We're making eight servings with this thing.
Oh, well, that's smart.
Mm-hmm.
I'm all for that.
Do it once, and I love you.
It's my dad's favorite.
Dad, come on in.
Come on into the show.
We'll save some for him.
Okay.
So then after you put that yogurt in that bowl,
you're going to put two tablespoons of maple syrup.
Okay.
And it really is kind of to taste.
There is no right or wrong thing.
I know some people use honey for this.
I would probably love honey.
Maple syrup is also good.
Yes, two tablespoons.
And then you're going to need a pinch of sea salt here.
Okay, just a little pinchy pinch.
I'll just stick that there.
Why not?
And then once you put that little pinch
in there, you don't want too much.
No.
It's healthy.
You're going to add some strawberries.
Okay.
There you go.
Some frozen strawberries.
They're nice and cold.
This is going to be very refreshing.
It is.
This is like a homemade ice cream-y something something.
And then you're going to add some of these raspberries.
Okay.
It's going to be almost having like a red,
white, and blue theme going on.
And then you're going to put some blueberries.
Okay.
All those are finished.
That's cute.
So sweet.
And I feel like you can kind of play
with the different fruits that you add in here.
Whatever is your favorite.
I love tropical flavors.
I might put a little mango in here.
It's whatever you want.
So you're going to fold it all together.
It makes it really good.
This makes a nice, big dessert.
I like that kind of on-demand, so you're not eating the wrong thing.
Protein-packed on this.
I'm sure Mr. Don't Mess It Up, or what did he say?
You know what he said.
So you're going to divide it into eight bowls.
This whole blend is only 950 calories for the entire thing.
Right the whole thing which you can keep in the fridge,
and it's kind of like a little meal prep
You can eat over it. You know over the whole week.
and that way you have a nice
Refreshing sweet treat.
I love that and it's literally this event. It's like ice cream
Mm-hmm gotta lick my fingers and I get to lick the bowl after okay
We gotta give this a try. All right
the easiest thing we made all day more strawberries
Okay, all right. All right. Here we go. Mm-hmm.
I love it. Oh, that's good. That is really
Tasty, it's yummy, it's cold, it's ice cream-like,
it's like that.
It's very refreshing.
It's like that super thick milkshake
where you're like, I'm gonna get you through that straw.
Right, in a bowl.
This is great.
All right, so we gotta give it thumbs up or thumbs down.
Ready?
Three, two, one.
This is good.
This is healthy.
I like it.
I like when you can make the strawberries
or the fruit frozen, make it a real nice treat.
This is great.
