AI GeneratedNorth Texas is experiencing a sudden shift from extreme heat and humidity to unseasonably cool, fall-like weather. After a streak of 90-degree days, a cold front has brought dry air and strong winds, leading to a temporary drop in temperatures before a gradual warm-up returns early next week.
How about that taste of fall kicking off the weekend?
We have recorded two unseasonably cool days after a streak of eight
days in a row where temperatures topped out at at least 90 degrees.
In fact, on Tuesday, we were only two degrees off the record.
The record was 97 set back in 1910 and we hit 95.
Not only that, but the humidity was brutal throughout
the entirety of the work week until the front blew through.
You noticed it Thursday evening, Thursday
night, especially if you were up early
and out the door Friday morning. Yeah, that dry air,
those strong winds out of the north
with recorded wind gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour across
parts of North Texas.
Now, by the time the sun set, the wind still stayed fairly breezy.
And then earlier this morning,
we did see a little bit of an added wind chill thanks to
those winds still sustained out of the north between 10
and 20 miles per hour. Since then,
though I notice you those winds have started
to die down in fact by tomorrow afternoon we're going
to see a wind shift back out of the east
and southeast that'll set up a gradual warm-up
through the rest of the work week morning low temperatures yeah
a little bit of a shock to
the system all of us falling into the 40s
but with an added wind chill there were several spots that
felt like it felt like the 30s now over
the next several days our mornings do start to climb notice
Tomorrow morning, basically a repeat of what we woke up
to this morning, but without that added brutal wind chill.
And then as we head into the work week,
dry air still dominates until the end of the week.
Then humidity starts to climb, and so do our morning low temperatures.
Satellite and radar is quiet.
Dry air dominating as that front scoured out any remaining moisture
with a dew point of 40 degrees.
Pretty comfortable.
That's what gave us a beautiful fall-like feel this afternoon.
no humidity and a large temperature swing
on the way tomorrow we wake up to temperatures in the
40s and end in those low 70s winds right now light out
of the north they'll stay that way
all night long with dew points expected in the 30s
and 40s over the next 24 hours or so again
that gives us comfortable high temperatures
in the low 70s for most tomorrow across the board
several spots already dipping into the 40s
by midnight we're in the low 50s we wake up once
again in the 40s with just a few high clouds
to dodge that is it outlying areas slightly colder
especially to the north
and west where we could see some readings in the mid to upper 30s high
pressure nudging its way back into South Texas
that keeps a dry forecast on tap now by the end
of the week and into the first part of the weekend
the Gulf will start to open back up and that in
turn will allow for higher moisture
however check out the rainfall forecast not much to speak of
through the extended forecast there
are some indications maybe by the end of next weekend
and into early parts of the following week that we see our next system
but we still have a few
unseasonably warm days to get through before
that happens staying seasonably cool tomorrow back to
average on monday and then yes it's off to the races
with a streak of highs in the 80s making
the return on your seven day forecast.
Sunshine dominating. That is the story
through the next several days
as Gulf moisture increases by the end of the
weekend into the weekend.
A few clouds return and humidity makes an increase.
