Fox News anchor Shannon Bream with Fox News Sunday joining me now.
Good morning to you.
Happy Friday.
And to you, Brandon.
All right.
So the complaints and the questions regarding
the new press secretary, Katie Zachariah,
does this matter or will this just be a distraction for her?
Yeah, I wonder if six months from now she's going
to have settled into this role and we're
not going to be talking about it
or if it's going to be a very abrupt, short tenure.
I don't know, because the last thing you want
as the press secretary is for the story to
be about you.
Anytime you're having to explain things,
it's a distraction from what the President has brought
you in to do, which is to boldly go out there
and promote his agenda and to make his points.
And so she was nervous on day one, I think any of us would be.
It's hard to follow Caroline
Leavitt, who was such a natural in that position.
But now this distraction about her law license and
how she has portrayed herself, I think news cycles move so quickly.
If this one wraps quickly and we
move on to other things and she shows
more confidence in that next briefing,
Maybe it's something we quickly forget,
but right now she's having to waste a lot of time
talking about it.
Yeah.
All right, so we've seen President Trump on the campaign trail,
of course, more than once
here in Texas.
Does this move the needle or does it just give Democrats more ammo?
Well, we'll see because you know what the president is doing,
visiting all these
deep red states like Texas has
been in the last few cycles and many others.
And he's saying you've got to turn out
because turnout in midterms is critical.
He wants his base to turn out.
And I think he really enjoys campaigning.
He likes the rallies.
He likes getting out there and firing people up.
But Democrats know he also fires up their base.
And so when he says pretend I'm on the ballot,
Democrats say yes, we want him and his policies
to be on the ballot.
And in your mind when you go to vote,
it's been going on for weeks in some places, trickling
and kicking in in more states in the following days.
But really you're running out of time to make
a final argument and the president knows he's
gotta fire up his base.
He's got to tell them they need to show up
when they may be discouraged by a lot of the
polling that they're seeing.
And then their questions, are Democrats going
to be too overconfident? And maybe some of their
folks get a little bit complacent
and don't have that same urgency to show up
if they feel like it's just a blue tidal wave that's coming
and maybe their vote's not needed.
All right, let's look ahead to Sunday. Who do you have on tap?
So we're going to have a couple of pollsters with us
who have been at this for decades.
Kellyanne Conway, Celinda Lake, are there holes in the polls?
Are there things missing?
Are Republicans, do they have false hope about the quiet
or the shy GOP voter not talking to pollsters
We're going to talk to them about how hard it
is to get numbers in 2026 and what they
make of the numbers.
We've got Tim Kaine, who's one of the top Democrats
on foreign policy in the Senate,
to talk about Ukraine and Iran and the diesel deal with Putin
and all those kinds of things.
So got a legal panel too,
it's gonna tackle the investigations into Congresswoman Ilhan
Omar.
The Cornell case, Krista Pike's botched investigation,
or excuse me, botched execution attempt.
We'll try to get to all of that on Sunday.
All right, looking forward to it, Shannon.
We'll see you then.
