Yeah, Brian, good evening right here near 91st and McDowell.
As you can see, a very active situation still going on.
The mobile command unit has just arrived on scene again.
We're right in front of this La Quinta here in Phoenix.
Now, the Tolleson police say that they responded to reports
of a man waving a knife at an apartment complex near 91st Avenue
and McDowell Road Saturday around 540 this evening.
Now, police say as officers responded, additional callers reported
the man had moved to a nearby hotel where he continued waving a knife.
the knife and running toward bystanders.
Now more calls reported that the man ran across the street
into a different hotel. Officers then arrived
and saw him running into the lobby with the knife.
We're told some police say that an officer involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital.
One man had reached out to us saying that he
was inside one of these hotels. When it happened,
he wanted to remain anonymous, but he did detail us what he saw.
Go shoot some tourists, um
and a gentleman walked in but there had been a lot of people
coming in and out. So I really didn't
think too much of it till I heard him
say to the receptionist, don't make me do this.
When he did that, I looked up and I
seen a gentleman he had no shirt on and then he turned around
and looked at me and he asked me,
am I with him? I said, with who?
He goes with him and he had a big old Rambo
style knife in his hand. And he told me,
he goes, you know what, you're gonna die today.
Now, Tolleson police say that one officer was involved,
but no officers were injured.
Here you have the West Valley Incident Response Team
that is conducting this investigation,
but still a lot more questions, and we're hoping to get
those answers both online and right here on Fox 10.
I'll send it back to you.
